A stay at Mountains Mountain is all about rediscovering the quiet of the remote country as it used to be. The calmness of the nighttime will amaze you as you gaze at the stars as you sit on the north deck on a moonlit night, or slowly walk up the Forest Trail among the tall trees on a sunny day. Explore the creek up Hidden Valley and look for fossils and different rock formations and stop and think how this amazing part of nature was formed. We have several cleared trails for you to walk and explore!

Thank you from the bottom of our city girl hearts. The three of us have made memories that will last a lifetime. The solitude, scenery and peace is beyond words. You are one of the kindest most sweetest person we have ever met. We absolutely loved the golf cart. Lily had such fun being our driver and Suzy and I even took it for a spin around the pond. We all want to come back with our husbands and families and really hope we will be able to and to see you again
Thank you so much to the Mountain family for sharing your perfect retreat! The cabin lacks nothing and the scenery in unrivaled! The forest, the stream, the pond, the trails - all are wonderful and I thank you for letting me share in their beauty. I had the best time in my life in your cabin. Thank you.
My wife and I recently spent five days at the cabin. While the owners' main focus is hunting (and the cabin has a hunting decor as depicted in the pictures), it was also a great place to just get away from it all for a few days. The cabin is obviously new and very well maintained. Everything was clean, and there are lots of little extras that you are free to use (detergent, some light snacks, soaps, etc.). The owners were very nice and always responded promptly to calls or emails. They struck a good balance between offering lots of information but also giving us privacy and space. The setting was exactly what we were looking for. You are back in the woods and don't see any other houses but it is a pretty easy drive from the interstate. The woods around the cabin are beautiful and we ate many of our meals outside enjoying the sounds of the forest and the animals scurrying around. We saw a number of deer every day along with lots of birds and squirrels and even a turtle. There are trails around the property which make for nice easy hikes, and again, you don't run into any other people or even see any other houses. We would gladly recommend the property to friends and family and would stay there again ourselves if we vacation in the area again.
If the woods, nature, and privacy are what you are looking for, look no further. The family that own this private haven are nothing short of terrific. The cabin itself had EVERYTHING I needed for a full weeks stay. All I had to bring were my basic necessities and food. I used the gas grill on the deck numerous times. Tables and seating on the deck made for peaceful outdoor meals. The trails meander through a beautiful virgin timber. The creek was low in July but flowing. I had trekked a bit on a couple trails before the owner and one of his sons came and gave me a golf cart escort through all of the trails. It was an enlightening time, to hear about how the land was originally acquired and how the entire family helped develop it. You'll appreciate the founding father's workmanship through the cabin. Definitely a place built by a loving family. Quality. I enjoyed seeing the MANY deer in the area throughout my stay. And yes, the last day I was there I managed to video the albino deer for just a wee bit! Enough that my friends had to admit I saw one! I was fortunate enough to be there during the height of blackberry season. Yum, yum! And yet I left in time for the owners to pick the best ones :-). Nights were so very peaceful... I slept like a baby in the very cozy bedroom, comfy bed. Awesome bathroom equipped with jetted tub, washer and dryer. Everything was in tip-top shape! Can't say enough about the area, the accommodations and the hospitality. Worth every penny and more!
Nov.1 2008 my wife,Brenda & I stayed at Mountains Mountain & we felt it was a perfect getaway. It is located in a perfect area(Pike County,Il.)known for it's wildlife, namely deer & turkey,of which we saw several, many deer right outside the cabin door. The view from the cabin is breathtaking & the golf cart ride on the trails around the property and thru the creek is even better.I'm an outdoors person and even without the outdoors this would have been a great stay, the cabin is wonderful. The setting inside the cabin is worth the trip itself with the fireplace, the hideaway upstairs with the upstairs deck, and decor are great. The Mountains provided a gas grill for our grilling pleasure and even left us Chocolate Chip Cookies for us to fix fresh in the oven. All of this added up to a wonderful stay. But the best part about Mountains Mountain is the Mountains themselves, you won't find better people anywhere. We plan on returning ASAP.
What a restful, quiet getaway we were able to experience for our 20th anniversary. Very comfortable accommodations in this secluded cabin. Must be experienced for at least two nights in order to 'decompress' and unwind. We did not want to leave. Thanks, Wayne & Genna, for opening your cabin for us to enjoy. We will be back with our 5 children next time...
Brayden (7years old) and Mark (47) had a wonderful time at Mountains Mountain. Brayden had a lot of fun shooting his 22 Rifle, Dad even let him shoot the 12 and 20 ga shotgun. We caught many fish in deer track pond and enjoyed cooking out also. We walked many trails and seen 6 deer. On our last day Brayden woke me up and we went fishing in the creek.(5:30am) The movie selections were just what we liked. We will return often and recommend Mountains mountain to all!
