Overview

Long Beach Apartment Rental Photos and Description

1 bedroom with queen bed, living room queen sleeper, 3/4 bathroom with a shower

The 'pied-a-terre' (French for a 'flat') is located above the owner's Spanish Colonial house with a separate entrance off the street.

Upon entering the apartment, you're greeted with a bright open floor plan. The many windows and French doors provide breeziness throughout. Collectibles from different countries lend an air of worldliness with a touch of whimsy.

A hallway leading to the cozy bedroom offers privacy from the living room. The well-equipped kitchenette with its granite counter top is ideal for preparing a quick meal. If dining out is on the agenda, there are eateries of various cuisines and budgets just a block away. Or, on a warm sunny day, have a BBQ in the patio below.

We welcome corporate renters. Please call 310-968-0334 for details.

About Colleen or Al

Al was born in Honolulu and left for the mainland when he was a toddler. He grew up in Long Beach, attended Lakewood High and USC with a strong focus on water sports. Now, he plays bridge and tries to improve on his golfing. Colleen was born in Hong Kong and moved to NYC at age 5. She graduated from the H.S. of Fashion Industries and the Fashion Institute of Technology. Interior design is her forte. She isn't very athletic but will join Al for snow skiing when the conditions are perfect. They both do Argentine tango and ballroom dancing several times a week. Waldo, their 15 year old rescued 'schnoodle' watches over Colleen and keeps strangers at bay with his ferocious bark.

Colleen or Al purchased this apartment in 1988

Why Colleen or Al chose Long Beach

Colleen fell in love with the Spanish courtyard in this ex-fixer upper. It's now a very comfortable and elegant home after several remodels.

What makes this apartment unique

The house is located in a very walkable neighborhood with a variety of cuisines, shops and amenities on 2nd St. The proximity to Los Angeles and Orange County allows for easy access to work and recreation.

Guestbook comments from the owner

From the guest book :

Great accommodations & location. We enjoyed walking to the beach every morning to geocache & also shopping on 2nd Street. The grandkids loved to come spend the night & play in the park. Your rental was an added bonus to a great visit with our family. We especially appreciate Al climbing onto the roof & through the balcony when we "locked" ourselves out! Thank you for your hospitality!

A great place to recover!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in the pied a terre after I traveled to Los Angelos for brain surgery. I had to stay in the area for ten days post-op and needless to say I was not in the best shape. I was so happy when we got there. The place is beautiful and so relaxing. I loved it and couldn't have picked a better place to recover. It was great because there were so many places close by to shop and eat. My husband did most of that but I was able to get out and ride to the beach. Colleen and Al could not have been nicer. It was like coming home to family. I only hope to get to go back on vacation. We will definately stay with them again!!

In a word - GREAT!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in the pied a terre for four days and loved it. It is exactly as pictured and advertised. Very clean, lovely furnishings, well appointed, super great bed, excellently maintained. Only issue - no air conditioning but I understand it is to be installed. Location was great, close to all amenities but still very quiet. We did not have a vehicle but didn't prove to be a problem as everything we needed was within walking distance or a quick bus ride away. Al and Colleen are A+ hosts and I highly recommend staying at any of their properties, we certainly will.

Owner's Response: Thanks Judith for your wonderful review. It has been chilly and a bit rainy in SoCal so the A/C is still sitting in the closet but will definitely be installed before your next visit.

A Great Place & Great Location!!!

  • 5 of 5

My wife, my little one & I stayed here for a week. Place looked exactly like it is in the picture's. Great Location, and Colleen recommended Pied a Terre' because of our 7 year old daughter. She loved the park ... went there every day across the street for an hour, My nephew worked at Yogurtland on 2nd St, it was a 1 min walk away! =) We were down for my Nephew's Graduation ... parking was fine, put us central to All my family out there, and convenient to 2nd Street shops, the beach either way you walked! We loved it ... and at night just left the windows open ... sometimes cracked one of the French doors ... Nice Breeze! Perfect Place for Us & We plan on coming back soon!

Al & Colleen came by the day we checked in ... and showed us around the patio area, bbq, etc ... Very Nice Couple & even brought up extra sheets for the pullout. Truly Gracious Host & We will definately be coming back! Thanks for making our Vacation a Blast!

I would Highly recommend this place for people even just wanting to walk everywhere! Shops, Groceries, Beaches, Legends Bar, tons of places to eat at are very close!

Thanks for Having Us Al & Colleen! We will be back! =)

Great Belmont Shore Location

  • 5 of 5

This was my third spring in Belmont Shore for work, first at the Pied A Terre. The location can't be beat. Walking distances: just a minute or two from the start of the 2nd Street strip, maybe three blocks / 10 minutes from the beach, and the brew pub (Belmont Brewing Company / BBC) is less than 15 minutes away. I was expecting parking to be a nuisance, based on previous Long Beach experiences, but I was completely wrong. Never had a problem, even when I got home after midnight.

My work generally keeps me very busy, so a comfy bed and an adequate kitchen are pretty much my only requirements. Check+ on the bed, SUPER comfy. The kitchen passes, it's not a chef's kitchen, but it's well stocked, and good enough for most things. One day, when I had a rare free hour in the afternoon, I went out to the back patio to read and it was exceptionally pleasant.

Colleen and Al are charming hosts. I highly recommend staying with them at the Pied A Terre and wouldn't hesitate to go back myself.

Great apartment, great location!

  • 5 of 5

Pied a Terre was the perfect home away from home for our family of three. Al and Colleen were there to greet us when we arrived. The apartment was exactly as pictured, tastefully decorated and provided all the comforts of home. Colleen and Al were wonderful and readily available even in the middle of the night when we misplaced our key. Street parking was readily available. We most enjoyed going for a early morning walk to 2nd St and grabbing coffee and pastries and walking back to the playground for our toddler to burn some energy before we started our day. I highly recommend!

A lovely stay

  • 5 of 5

This is truly a delightful place to stay in Long Beach. It was scrupulously clean, beautifully well arranged, and has all the equipment and amenities necessary to make you comfortable. (The bed is excellent!) The owners couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. You are in easy walking distance of the 2nd St. district of shops, restaurants, and bars--very handy--and only a few blocks from the beach. We never had any trouble with parking, which can be an issue in Long Beach. We have visited our son in Long Beach several times over the past few years, and this is much the nicest place we have stayed. We highly recommend it.
