Miminegash Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Sea Watch Cottage, situated at the end of a 1 kilometer private road, is located on a large 2.5 acre property affording spectacular views of the ocean, fishing boats and stunning sunsets. The fishing village of Miminegash is seen from the front deck and yard. It is at the north end of the 'pond' a large body of water over which you can see beautiful sunrises and watch many water fowl. A staircase over the cape leads to the wide red sandy beach and the ocean with the warmest temperatures north of the Carolinas, ideal for swimming and playing in the water. The beach extends for many K. in both directions. The fire pit is situated near the top of the cape so none of the beauty is ever lost during your stay. Walking south one can see the many windmills of West Cape and following the beach to the north brings you to the village of Miminegash, the fishing harbor with boats and a fresh daily supply of seasonal catch such as lobster. Our cottage is very clean and bright. It has 2 bedrooms one with a full master bath and King size bed and the other right next to the 2nd full bathroom having 2 single beds which can be converted into a King bed. A sofa-bed in the living room allows space for 2 extra people.

About Irene Huber (Manager)

We are a young professional couple from Toronto with 2 young children who fell in love with PEI the first time we visited. We cherish our peaceful time at the cottage which is a haven from our hectic city life.

Irene Huber (Manager) purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Irene Huber (Manager) chose Miminegash

We love nature, cottage living, beach holidays, great food (especially lobster)! This property has ocean, beautiful sand, stunning sunsets, and lots of space with natural forest to explore. It's more than we dreamed of and is always our perfect family getaway.

What makes this cottage unique

A typical day at the cottage for us starts with fresh coffee in the morning while watching the sun rise over the pond and the birds wake and greet the day. Mornings are great for a long walk or play on the beach. In the afternoon, swimming, napping, and making sand castles, followed by a walk to the harbour to meet the fishermen arriving with fresh lobster (early August to early October), or scallops in May/June. These dates are set differently each year.. After cleaning up with a fresh outdoor shower, dinner is made and served at a picnic table by a campfire overlooking the cape. We wait for the final show... an incredible sunset which never disappoints. Then, a good nights sleep, and repeat the next day!

Amazing Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is perfection, do not miss the opportunity to rent it! My husband and I spent a wonderful week here. The cottage is beautifully decorated, has all modern conveniences, and is located on a very private lot with a large pond in the front and the ocean/beach in the back. We watched many birds in the pond, walked along the beach for miles and enjoyed the best sunsets we have ever seen. Additionally, we biked on the Confederation Trail, hiked and visited 2 lighthouses, enjoyed a lot of local seafood and lots of time to read and relax. The cottage is located in a quieter region of the island surrounded by fishing villages; the "tourist attractions" can be reached in about 1 1/2 hours, very accessible for day trips. We prefer staying away from crowds; we seek tranquility and enjoying all of the wonders of nature when vacationing; this is the perfect place for enjoying these things. The caretakers and manager are kind, helpful people who answered our many questions. This cottage is a rare gem, the finest rental we have ever stayed in!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the first review of this season. We are very happy that you have enjoyed the cottage and can give it such a great review. Our concern is to provide a cottage that will be, for all of our renters, what it has been for you. We hope to have you visit again in the future.

My daughter and I were lucky enough to spend 3 nights in this adorable cottage. This was our first visit to PEI and we were hoping to find peace and quiet. This cottage gave us that and more. It is beautiful, immaculate and the views are beyond description. It is decorated the way you would decorate your own cottage if you were lucky enough to have a cottage by the sea. Irene, the cottage manager, was very easy to deal with. She was gracious and welcoming when we arrived making sure we had everything that we needed (even homemade cookies). Our stay was at season end and as we expected it was cool. We loved the sound of the waves on those cool. windy days. This is one of those places where you wish you could say something bad about it so that it would be available when you want to return. But this was so perfect I can't think of one thing that should be changed!

We would love to come again for a longer stay.

Thank you for sharing this great cottage with us!

The Eagle couple.

We were at the cottage the first 2 weeks of September. The location and cottage are beautiful and the setting quite lovely. You have the "pond" which provided us many hours of bird watching : herons, cormorants, finch, etc. And on the other side of teh property, a beach and ocean that runs for miles round. The sound of surf reaching our ears in the evening was quite enchanting.

We were blessed with wonderul weather, warm and hospitable folks (Gene, Irene, Brian who brought us fresh lobster, fellow cottage neighbours) and and many other folks who made our stay wonderful and memorable.

There is a stand of trees next to that cottage, where a pair of American bald eagles and their two teenage fledglings would perch. The female would most every day and evening come and stand imperoius for hours on end. We would take our chairs and binoculars and watch her, quite a magical experience. We called her Kip and she was a part of our holiday routine during our vacation stay.

I highly reccomend the cottage, it is private and quiet and yet a short drive to reach other areas of the island. It is beautifully decorated, clean and very well equipped. A wonderful place to book your summer holiday.

Thank you for your warm reception and kindness during our stay there.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your great review. As I told you, I still chuckle to think of the 2 chairs in the middle of the yard facing the trees --- your eagle watching spot. The setting is definitely beautiful with no lack of enjoyment in a relaxing way. Another plus to being out and away from lights of any town or city is the chance to star gaze and be blown away by the sky, totally covered with stars. Thank you for being such appreciative guests.

Beautiful sunrise AND sunset

  • 5 of 5

Sea Watch Cottage was a great place to enjoy the ocean and also the tidal pools. The Cottage is located between the two which gives you a beautiful sunrise as well as a beautiful sunset. The house was very comfortable although we had some heavy rains and the road to the house was a bit muddy. This mud provided a unique look to the ocean front since the seas were rough. The ocean actually became a blood red. We were able to book this Cottage on short notice and it was delightful. The furnishings were excellent including a washer and dryer, a flat screen TV and all of the pleasures associated with having a place which is inhabited by others much of the time. We would like to caution you that the internet is limited to that service you can get by use of your cell phone. We did not have a Canadian cell phone therefore we were somewhat limited in our ability to connect with others. This would be a perfect location for anyone who wants to get away from the busyness of life and just relax. Perfect!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for submitting a review of Seawatch Cottage and for telling of your appreciation of the cottage. Our guest book has so many of the same positive comments and we are happy to provide a vacation rental that is a pleasure to be at. We are sorry that your phone plans did not include a 3 or 4 G cellular network making it difficult to connect to the internet. Unfortunately you did not communicate your concern to me (Manager), as I was at a cottage less than 1/2 K away and would have happily helped you resolve the problem. The roads are a factor of weather but are always totally passable in the rental months.

Had a wonderful time here

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was great - facilities were very comfortable and had everything we needed. The view was exceptional and the beach was great! We were looking for a place to relax and get away - this was just the right place. We have stayed on PEI before but this was the best. Lobster just a short walk down the beach and scallops from the neighbour down the road. The only thing a little annoying was the mosquitos but this was nothing the owners can do anything about - it's just nature. Thanks for a wonderful stay - we would definitely return.

Wonderful place to relax

  • 5 of 5

The property was incredible. Even though the pictures and description were attractive, the reality was even better,. We loved the beautiful and comfortable furnishings and amenities. We loved the water views from virtually every window, the screened in porch which was ideal for morning tea or and afternoon libation. Although we lucked into a week of perfect weather, it was a little cool and we really enjoyed the fireplace which looked pretty but also gave us just enough heat. We don't have a single thing to complain or feel negative about and we are definitely going to try to visit again.

Since our primary reason for visiting was to relax, we didn't stray very far other than a round of golf in St. Felix which was a beautiful course. We also enjoyed the scallops supplied by Brian and Barb.

Seawatch Cottage is located at the end of a little travelled cul de sac. It is private and quiet. The beach is easily reached at the edge of the grassy yard and down a staircase. One can play on the beach, find sea glass, walk for miles and even in about 20 minutes to the small fishing village of Miminegash. Here you can watch the fishing boats come and go and buy fresh seafood from the fishermen when in season. Our caretakers are fishermen and sometimes will bring fresh lobster or scallops right to the door at a great price. They are also a great source of information and always ready to help if there is a need. It is an easy drive to the 3 small villages in the area, the Potato Museum, 2 lighthouses and their wonderful dinning facilities. The cottage has a good supply of brochures to aide you in finding things to see and do.
