This was the best experience I've had with a rental. There were 10 of us staying in the cabin. Al and Dechen went above and beyond making us feel welcome and helping us with ANYTHING we needed. Highly suggest staying here.
Had a great Dad's and Daughter's weekend in Crestone. The cabin is perfect and in a spectacular setting surrounded by majestic mountains and fragrant pinon pines!
I've stayed in Crestone on several occasions and this carriage house has been my favorite rental. It was clean and well furnished upon arrival. The king bed was super-comfy and the room was very quiet, which was great. After traveling on an exhaustive road trip the week prior, I was ready to have some R&R and this was the perfect place. There were people staying in the main house and I never heard them going or coming. Looking out the large windows of the main room, all you can see are beautiful mountain views. The soaking tub was great and I spent a lot of time watching movies on my (waterproof) iPhone using the wireless system or watching the weather change across the valley floor. Seems decadent, but hey, its a vacation! Al, the manager/owner, was a great help with hiking tips and just an all-around nice person. I'd definitely go back anytime.
I stayed in the carriage house and for the price, I don't know how you can do better- very comfortable king bed, fully stocked kitchen, nice bathroom with Kohler soaking tub with view. Wifi and 4G signal also come in handy. No TV service but you should be up in the mountains anyway. Al was very helpful with hiking suggestions (one of the best ever hikes) and food recommendations (there aren't that many in this tiny town. If you are a CO resident and looking for something off the beaten path, try Crestone.
We had an excellent stay at the Carriage House. Everything we needed was on-site including comfortable (and clean and attractive) amenities, books and films with esoteric orientation, and an easy walk to several of the spiritual sites. Al and Dechen are lovely folks who are welcomed us in and answered all of our questions. Both have a wonderful perspective on the area, each in their own way. We would stay there again in an instant.
My husband, 2 kids and I found Al's place to be very comfortable and quiet. The cottage over the garage is set in serene surroundings, the scenery is gorgeous. The bedroom has a king size bed with duvet for the cool evenings - even in the head of July! The kitchen has everything you need for meals, and Al let us use his grill for our burgers. The cottage is located in the Baca Grande outside of Crestone, and it was fun to venture around the roads in the area without having to worry about traffic. I recommend Al's place to anyone who likes to stay off the beaten path.
Located just a few miles to trailheads for several 14,000 ft peaks. Buddhist Temples, Hindu Temple and Japanese Shumei Center all within walking distance. Town of Crestone just 4 miles away with organic produce, sundries, dining and local art. Bike to Tibetan stupas and Ziggurat. Complementary/alternative health practitioners. Great Sands Dunes National Park is 60 miles South and therapeutic hot springs of Valley View and Joyful Journey are 30 miles North. Eclectic shopping and dining in historic downtown Salida, located 60 miles North.
