This is a beautiful, well maintained farm house at the end of a dirt road, surrounded by 250 acres of undeveloped field and forest. A perfect retreat for writers, artists, yoga enthusiasts, or a family reunion.
Situated between the town centers of Bethlehem and Littleton, there are restaurants, book and antique shops, a Sunday flea market, Maya Papaya Coffee shop, as well as Chutter's Candy Store that boasts one of the longest candy counters in the US. Movie theatres in both towns provide nightly entertainment. Not far from Bretton Woods skiing, or Canon Mountain.
The large house with kitchen, dining room, living room, parlor, and several upstairs bedroom, a full bathroom with tub on first floor, shower on second, along with an additional half bath, will give you the space to stretch out, and enjoy a relaxing time away from the hectic daily pace of life. Though the furnishings are a bit of a hodge podge, you will love the light and comfort of this roomy home.
If getting back to nature is your goal, this is the place. The night sky sets off the stars like you never see near the city. Take a hike through the woods down to the river, swim or float on the playful rapids, and sunbath on lazy summer day on the pebbled banks of the Amanoosac River.
After a long day seeing area attractions, or hiking to the river, sit back on the porch, and enjoy the sounds and smell of nature.
We had a wonderful weekend at this home. Everything was perfect for a holiday escape from the city. Our kids loved all of the rooms, the sled-riding hill, and the nearby towns (cute diners, candy stories...) We would highly recommend this house and location!
My husband and I rented this farmhouse to host a pre-wedding dinner party for our son and family members prior to their wedding at the Mt. Washington Hotel. The farmhouse was the perfect gathering place. We were easily able to accommodate 14 people for dinner with plenty of room for all. We really loved the privacy that the farmhouse provided at the end of a quiet lane, and especially enjoyed the hiking trail down to the river. The house is well equipped and we wanted for nothing. The house has a special charm and it is everything you would expect an old farmhouse to be; no frills but very relaxing.
We rented the Farmhouse for a week-long vacation with family and close friends. We were seeking a quiet, scenic location in which to share our love of the White Mountains with the most important people in our lives. The Farmhouse proved to be the most idyllic setting for us. Full of charm, a loving spirit and all the comforts of home - it was the perfect place for us to share a meal, a walk, a movie or just talk and reconnect with one another. Our older guests enjoyed reminiscing about farm life in their early days.
Bethlehem NH is a very good jumping off point to many hiking trails of the AMC Four Thousand Footers, as well as the Cannon Tram for those who don't climb. Maya Papaya and The Cold Mountain Cafe in Bethlehem were nearly daily stops for some or all of us. A formal evening was spent out at the nearby Franconia Inn. There is much to do in the local environs, but we preferred to enjoy the comfort of the Farmhouse and its quiet surroundings, delighting each day as the fall foliage progressed before our very eyes.
Asa and Lori were extremely helpful and accommodating. We highly recommend the Farmhouse for a good old fashioned country family vacation. We made memories here, and hope to return someday to relive them and make more. :-)

The prefect rental for us! We rented this property in July 2010. We had searched and searched all the properties in the White Mts area for just the right one. We needed plenty of bedrooms as it was 3 families going. (ranging in age from two 17 year olds to grandparents) We didn’t want to be in a resort area. We wanted to be able to grill, sit outside and enjoy good company, and have more than one common area so we didn’t feel like we were on top of each other. We also didn’t want to be more than an hour away from anything on our bucket list of must sees & dos. This place fit our needs perfectly and with all the character of an older home. My son & his friend took over the loft and the TV room (yes his Xbox came too). The dinning room provided a large enough table for all of us to eat together. The bedrooms were larger than we expected for an older home. Asa & Lori were wonderful to rent from. This was our first experience with renting from a website- so I was a bit leery. However, it turned out better than I could have hoped for. Thank you both for helping to provide wonderful family vacation memories for us. Some of the activities we did while in the area- Cannon Mt Tramway, the scenic highway drive, dinner in Lincoln, Mt Washington Cog Train, Wildcat and Attitash summer activities, ziplines, hiking, canoe trips, Pollys Pancakes (it was ok but pricey & long wait), and our friend’s daughter and son-in-law climbed one of the Mountains in the area. It was a great vacation for all and offered something for everyone.
This is the place I know I can go to and as soon as my feet hit the porch I begin to relax. My family and friends enjoy this spot immensely and plan to return again and again!! The river is a spectacular hike away and their are plenty of outlying regions to explore, so plan on a long stay. The town of Bethlehem is quaint and funky, and the farm just up the way has the best fresh eggs you can imagine. The host and hostess are wonderful and informative, and the house is supremely comfortable and enchanting. I highly recommend, and I'm already jealous if you're in the White Mountains and I'm not!
This place was exactly as I needed it to be. I made late reservation to fill in for plans that fell through and the owner (Asa) was incredibly accommodating and helpful. It's a large, older (probably 1880's) farmhouse and feels just as it should -- well-finished in a yeoman-like fashion and showing its age in the right way: settled on its foundation and ever-so-slightly too many layers of paint on the trim.
For furnishings, there is a "family camp" kind of a feel, with some pieces feeling displaced -- saved, perhaps, from a remodel elsewhere. The kitchen isn't the most efficient food-prep place, but everything you need is there (though you might have to hunt a bit for pots and make do as far as implements go). The bedding is clean and comfortable and the many bedrooms have unique personalities.
The place is large enough to spread out -- could easily accommodate the whole family and then some, with enough common space to hold everyone and enough separate areas for folks to do their own thing if they wish.
The location is perfect. At the end of a dirt lane, the house is framed by fields and well-sheltered from its neighbors; a very private setting. Access to the river is a walk, but one well worth taking for the nearly private bathing it affords. ("Revenuers not welcome!")
I used it as a base for a week spent hiking in the Whites. Over about 8 days, I was able to have three people meet me for an evening or two (sister, gf, good-ol-boy) and they all felt the same: it is a place of peace.
In the summer Bethlehem is full of Hasidim, a family of which had the place just before I did. Perhaps that accounted for some of the "centeredness" I felt there. More likely, though, it was finding a clean, well-lighted place far from everything I needed to forget and close to everything I have to remember. I will look to return.
We are in the heart of the White Mountains, not far from skiing and swimming at Echo Lake at the base of Canon Mountain, where you can fish, rent canoes, or take a Canon Mountain Aerial Tramway ride up the slopes. Forest Lake is only a 15 minute drive, as is Moore Dam Reservoir, if you want to bring your boat.
The White Mounains' famed Flume Gorge in Franconia Notch State Park, is only a 30 minute drive, where you can walk the 2 mile hike up past the waterfalls and covered bridges. And for fun day trips for the kids, less than 40 minutes will bring you to North Woodstock, NH where there is a water park, miniature golf, and other amusements.
Another great trip takes you to Clark's Trading Post, in Lincoln, NH, where you can take a miniature train ride, and see dancing bears. 40 minutes from Bretton Woods for cross country skiing, or feel free to cut your own trail over our 250 private woodland acres.
Other Activities: Shopping, boating, cross country & downhill skiing, snowmobiling
Golf: Canon mountain is about 15 minutes drive, easily down 93 S.
Cross Country skiing and snowshoeing can be done over our fields.
