A lovely vacation property

I would give this property 5 stars, given the beauty of the pine forest surrounding the vacation rental, and the lovely charm and comfort of the house. However, there were some concerns that brought my rating down to 4 stars. Nevertheless, I have to say that overall the 4 of us were very pleased with our experience.
The main complaint is that a strong and pervasive sulphur smell permeated the house due to either the water heater or water system. We were able to use the water, and did not get ill from bathing in it or using it in its boiled form. There was plenty of heat and hot water, and the beautiful wood burning stove kept us very warm. Wood was plentiful, but we did have to get some additional fire starters so as to ignite the logs.
The only other concern we had pertained to a defective coffee maker. We had to run out to purchase a coffee maker for the weekend...an amenity which is listed as included in the house.
Otherwise the house is well-maintained and quite lovely. The outside decks were large enough for me to do morning yoga overlooking the breathtaking pine trees. The acres of land surrounding the rental are beautiful and very well kept.
We made plenty of delicious meals in the ample kitchen, and enjoyed the stereo system, eclectic CD collection, DVD/cable, and the local markets. Bath and kitchen products were plentiful.
We went for rest and relaxation and we got what we came for. Walking outside to the smell of a pine forest and burning wood from the wood burning stove, was ideal.
Thank you Patricia for a glorious weekend.....
Owner's Response: Thank you Sheri for your review. I am sorry for the strong sulphur smell you experienced. I had a most unfortunate experience with some renters in August who wrecked major damage on the house and it wasn't until a couple of weeks later after the vandalism had been cleaned up that we realized major damage had been done to the septic system. I thought it had been fixed and taken care of but it sounds as though it has not been. Although there is sulphur in the water, there never has been a "strong and pervasive smell which permeated the house." My property manager is presently looking into the problem and it will be corrected. Also, do not understand about a "defective coffee maker". I did not know there was anything wrong with it. I will take that under advisement. Sorry for the inconveniences. Patricia
