Our vacation property in Concrete, Washington is at the entrance to the North Cascade Mountains just west of the pass to Winthrop, WA. This is a river-front property, located on the beautiful Skagit River. Concrete's name comes from its cement-making heritage, but don't let the name fool you! With magnificent Mt. Baker and Shannon Lakes as neighbors, Concrete is a wonderful destination for bicycling, hiking, camping, bird watching, fishing and boating. Concrete hosts seasonal bald eagle migration, and is home to the Bald Eagle Festival each February.
Let our local band of Elk welcome you to your retreat away from the hectiness of everyday life. This property is a perfect place for a quiet get away to revive your spirit and get back in touch with nature.
We fell in love with this property on a drive through the mountains. With the mountain and river views, we thought that this would be a great place to get away and spend time with our children out in wide open spaces.
The Owner purchased this house in 2005
Its closeness to Seattle, WA, makes this an easy get-away to relax with family and friends. In less than two hours, you are in the heart of nature. Its location at the base of the North Cascade Mountains and on the banks of the Skagit River, makes it the perfect spot for a return back to nature.
We are in the middle of the Cascade Mountains and on the Skagit River. There is a hiking trail right along the riverside, with beautiful views of the surrounding area. Every winter the eagles gather as the salmon begin to run and wildlife abounds. The Skagit River offers abundant fishing, kayaking, and boating. We are visited many evenings by the local herd of elk.
We stayed here for ten days over Easter and had a wonderful time. 3 adults and a very active 9 month old visiting from San Diego. We cooked an amazing feast in the kitchen for Easter. The house is very spacious and we loved the large game room above the garage. The Elk visited us about 5 times and they were just amazing to watch. We loved exploring around the property and bird watching. The owners were very helpful with any questions we had. We did have a problem getting the fireplace to turn on but the owners had the very friendly and helpful neighbors come get it started. This home is very peaceful I loved sitting on the front patio and relaxing. If you enjoy hiking there are many hiking spots in the area. I hear the fishing is amazing, so we will definitely try and return one day during fishing season. The home is on the river in a high end neighborhood. We hope to return and visit again soon.
Just got back from a week at the house. The house is in great condition and well appointed. The owners are very easy to work with and especially responsive. This house is one of the few rental houses close to the West entrance of North Cascades National Park. Also right down the road from Baker Lake. Copious grounds and the herd of Elk visited us for two of the days. I've rented many vacation homes in the West and I highly recommend this one.
We (my family of four, both sets of grandparents and my sister) were looking for a base from which to explore North Cascades National Park, and boy, what a find! This is a stunning home on the Skagit River - spacious and clean, and a fabulous location. We spent our days hiking and marveling at the scenery, then returned to the home to relax in the evenings. There was so much for the kids to do - basketball, ping pong, darts and foosball! - that they couldn't wait to come back every day to play in the game room. Our bird-watcher parents had a wonderful time spotting species from the patio every morning. A perfect getaway for all ages!
My family (2 adults, 2 elementary school aged kids) just returned from a week at this cabin (mid-July). We had the most amazing time. The house has everything you need for a very comfortable, relaxing, fun stay. The location is ideal if you love the outdoors. We brought our boat and were able to fish, tube, relax on Lake Shannon, Lake Baker, Lake Diablo, Grandy Lake and the Skagit River. The scenery is stunning. And it was great to catch a bunch of big, fat, trout. We hear the salmon fishing is great too -- just didn't have time to do it all. There are amazing hikes in the area too. If you are looking for a memorable get-away -- with all the comforts of home, this is definitely the place for you.
