Angel Fire House Rental Photos and Description

5 bedrooms, 6 bunk niches, 5 baths, 4 fireplaces

A light-filled gem set amid the evergreens and aspens at 10,000 feet, our ski in/ski out home combines cool, contemporary design with a cozy, Alpine-retreat feeling.

Designed by architect David Webber, the house was created to be a no-fuss family home for the enjoyment of the great outdoors.

The house sits on over an acre of green space perched high above the dramatic Moreno Valley, and offers breathtaking views from walls of windows and multiple outdoor living spaces. Four bold fireplace designs by a French artist invite lounging indoors, while a soaring balcony upstairs encourages stargazing.

Our floors are wood and concrete, art hangs on the walls, and are furnishings are simple, yet beautiful. Children of all ages love our unique bunk niches hidden by sliding barn doors, and our bedrooms and baths are tastefully appointed and comfortable.

An art room is available upstairs, and a gourmet kitchen with adjacent dining spaces occupies the heart of the home.

Suitability:
  • children welcome
  • non smoking only
  • pets not allowed
  • unsuitable for elderly or infirm
  • wheelchair inaccessible

Great house for large group

  • 5 of 5
The house is larger than it looks and accommodated 15 people comfortably. We had 8 adults and each couple had their own bedroom and bathroom, and the four bunkbeds on the 3rd floor worked perfectly for the 4 older boys and the two bunkbeds on the bottom floor were perfect for the 2 younger boys. Wish there were more photos. The only tight area was of course the kitchen but with the open area to the kitchen seating and then what would be formal dining no one feel completely cut off from the group. The living room was spacious and we had room to bring in chairs and all play a family game one night. Side tables would be a welcome addition to the room.
Would totally recommend this home to a friend or family member.

Good place for a large group

  • 4 of 5
This home is listed as a ski in/ski out...the ski out part was easy...the ski in part was a little tasking. The house is on Texas flats ski run & it lives up to its name...be prepared for a short cross country ski adventure! The house itself was great & accommodated several families comfortably. You might consider bringing your own towels or be prepared to do several loads of laundry as there were enough towels to bathe but not to use the hottub as well. We literally had deer eating out of our hands the night we arrived...which thrilled the kids! The drive up & driveway were all well maintained & easy to maneuver. The heated floors & fireplaces were the only heat sources (as far as we could tell) but the house stayed pretty warm. There was zero carpet which is great to not have to worry about with so many people. Be advised that there is no wifi, one baby tv with sparse cable in the library, & one tv with VCR/DVD in a bedroom downstairs...I know that mountain vacations are not supposed to be about Internet & tv but the option of family movie night would be nice. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment & dishes & the home has lots of sitting room for eaters. Overall, the home worked well, the property manager was nice, & even with the snow trek home it was WAY better than walking to the cars, loading gear & people, & hauling them up & down the mountain!

Owner's Response: Glad to hear that our most recent guests enjoyed their stay in our mountain retreat! One note made was to consider "bringing your own towels." This would be a great way to approach our need to be extremely water conscious in New Mexico--(provided that future guests return home with the dirty towels to be washed once back home.) New Mexico is a state where water is a precious resource, and we make every attempt to conserve water. As full-time residents of Santa Fe, we read state government reminders to save water in every commercial bathroom we enter: restaurants, hotels, shops, schools, and galleries. "BYOT" is an idea we'd love to see other guests embrace.

Fantastic Mountain Stay

  • 5 of 5
Our family just returned from vacationing at the Chastenet Home in Angel Fire, NM. We really enjoyed the cooler weather and getting out of the Texas heat. The house had beautiful views of Wheeler Peak and the Moreno Valley. Our kids thoroughly enjoyed being outside on the mountain and a lot of hiking and exploring suited them just fine. We definitely will be back - maybe during ski season since the house sits right next to the ski slope.

Rick, the property manager, was informative about the house and even escorted the kids on a hike up the mountain which included all kinds of interesting sites.
