ABSOLUTE OCEAN FRONT CONDO

Kailua Kona Townhome Rental Photos and Description

Townhome, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

OCEANFRONT Townhouse in Kailua-Kona!

From the palm tree adorned back patio of this oceanfront townhouse, you will enjoy magnificent and unobstructed views of the ocean, stunning sunsets, breaching Humpback whales in winter and playful spinner dolphins all year.

Part of the quiet and prestigious Keauhou-Kona Surf and Racquet Club, this gated community boasts a garden setting on 17 acres surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the world-class Kona Country Club Golf Course.

Included with the rental are parking, three lighted tennis courts, a large swimming pool, picnic area, gas and charcoal grills, and unlimited high speed wireles internet. Located only 4 miles from downtown Kona village, and also within walking distance of shopping, restaurants, and a multi-plex movie theater. Kahalu'u State Beach Park is only minutes away by foot, teeming with colorful tropical fish and foraging sea turtles, making for some of the best snorkeling on the Island. Within and surrounding the townhouse are numerous petroglyphs and heiaus remaining from the time when ancient Hawaiians ruled the land.

Ocean views are visible from the living room, kitchen, upstairs bathroom and upstairs bedroom. The townhouse embodies your dream home-by-the-sea. Even the furniture, which is either tropical or Hawaiian, keeps with the 'island theme' expanse, preserving the aura of a tropical get-away.

Mornings and sunsets are our favorite times, and will most likely be quite memorable for you as well. In the morning, relax in a cushioned chair, delight in a delicious cup of world-famous Kona coffee, and prepare for another day of island adventure. In the evenings, enjoy pu-pu's and a glass of wine while the sun sets over the sounds of the surf and scent of the Pacific Ocean over another perfect day in Kona.

RESORT INFORMATION - Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club Resort is a four-star resort located oceanfront near Kahalu'u in the Keauhou area of Kailua-Kona, Big Island, Hawaii - approximately four miles south of the Kailua-Kona Town Center or the Kailua-Kona Pier. There are 197 total units with one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom units located oceanfront, ocean view, fairway front, and fairway view.

The Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club Resort is located in the center of the Kona Coast. The Keauhou area is known for calm winds and warm, sunny days because it is located on the leeward side of Mauna Kea, the 13,796-foot-high (above sea level) mountain that is the highest point in all of the Hawaiian Islands. In fact, if Mauna Kea's height is measured from its base (18,000 feet below sea level), it surpasses even Mount Everest as the world's highest mountain (31,796 feet) Before modern times when the trade winds were blowing cold winter air down from the northeast, the Hawaiians would travel to the Keauhou Bay area for shelter and warmth.

We are the original owners of this beautiful condo. We have been married over 65 years and have had many wonderful vacations with our family.

The Owner purchased this townhome in 1979

Our first grandson was born in Hawaii and we wanted to be close to him. We enjoy spending time with our family and friends who love to visit. We also hope our guests will enjoy the peace and scenery of this beautiful island.

Our view and relaxing environment away from all the hustle and bustle of our busy lives is especially important and brings us much joy.

We have breakfast every morning with fresh island fruit and enjoy watching the dolphins play in front of the condo. There are outriggers and boats on their way to a delightful day of fun and sun.

We especially love the beautiful sunsets while having dinner with family and friends.

AMAZING FAMILY VACATION!

  • 5 of 5
My family and I just returned home from staying nearly 2 weeks in this ocean front condo. My husband and I vacationed with our 3 kids, 19, 13 and 5 and had plenty of room in here. The only issue we had was a discrepancy with our check out time which was quickly rectified by calling the owner Patty. Not only was Patty easy to work with, she was very helpful in giving us suggestions on what to see and do and where to dine. We would definitely recommend this VRBO property and the Big Island of Hawaii!

COMFORTABLE STAY

  • 4 of 5
We selected this property for the location and the price, and it met our needs on both accounts. The townhome is in an older complex and the complex is not anything to write home about. We didn't use the pool or tennis courts during our stay. The pool area is quite small but it is located just yards from this unit, so it's convenient if you're a pool person. The description of the unit is accurate, and the photos give a fairly good depiction, although they make it look a little roomier than it actually feels. It is comfortable, but it doesn't give you a "wow factor" when you walk in the door like some of the other VRBO experiences we've had. The bedrooms and one bathroom are upstairs, and the second bathroom is on the main level...we were there with our family of four and we all used the upstairs bathroom because it was more convenient. The carpet is definitely showing its age and the unit has a sort of "old" smell to it...nothing bad, just reminiscent of visiting grandma's house when I was little, but the paint and the fixtures have all been updated. There are no window coverings in the twin bed bedroom and it gets the morning sun, so we ended up hanging a sheet up to block out some of the light...it didn't really work. One thing that happened during our stay which was incredibly inconvenient and disenchanting for us was that our unit was being painted on the exterior. The owner did not give us any advance notice of this, so we were surprised on our first morning when there were painters banging around ladders and equipment outside our windows at 8am. One morning the painters sealed the entire unit in plastic except for the main exit door..all the windows and the door to the lanai were covered in plastic! We spent most of our time away from the townhome, but had we wanted to just "hang out" it would have been impossible. We didn't get to enjoy any of the outdoor furniture or the lanai area because of the painting. I wish that we would have had advance notice of this, if nothing more than just to mentally prepare...and assuming the property managers gave advance notice to the owner, that she would have given us some sort of discount for the inconvenience.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review Alli, I am sorry you were not advised of the painting of the unit. I would have notified you, if I had known myself, apparently they sent the notice to our old cleaning company and they did not notify me. I am sorry for the inconvenience, I wish you would have notified me when you were at the unit, I could have done something about it, but it is hard to after the fact.
I believe our description of the unit is accurate. The unit was remolded just two years ago.
My mother has been very ill and in and out of the hospital so I have not been able to get over to the condo to add new carpeting and curtains. I will definitely make this my priority when she has recuperated.
I have sent you an email to discuss this further.

NICE TOWNHOUSE

  • 5 of 5
We stayed during Ironman Week for a member of our family in the event. It was just far enough away from town to be peaceful but close enough to get to needed events. The townhouse is right on the ocean so the view and sound of the ocean is wonderful. Tennis courts and pool are right by townhouse. The townhouse had everything we could have needed or wanted. .5miles from beach good for snorkling and we made friends with a sea turtle. Grocery store very close. Swimming with dolphins is not to be missed. Manaray swimming was good and between 2 - 1/2 hours to volcano. Town has restaurants, bars, stores such as Walmart, etc. Landlord was wonderful and very helpful even though remote.

I think the listing understates how nice the location is. The property was clean and well-mainted and we will go back.

ABSOLUTE OCEANFRONT TOWNHOUSE

  • 5 of 5
We stayed here for 15 days in June 2012. The kitchen and bathroom were recently remodeled. We enjoyed sitting on the lanai for breakfast and dinner, and saw spinner dolphins. This unit is not air conditioned but has a lot of ceiling fans, and it is very close to the pool for an afternoon dip. It is directly on the ocean, and you can hear and see the waves crashing against the lava rock. It was a wonderful place to watch the sunset every evening.

This unit was ideally located for us. It is close to Kailua-Kona and the farmer's market, shopping, and the Kona Brewing Company (a wonderful restaurant). It is very close to a marina (about 5 minutes) where we took a cruise on the Fair Winds II to the Captain Cook monument. It was clearly the best snorkeling on the island. We also found fantastic snorkeling at Two Step (Honaunau Bay), just a short drive south.

On the road, we found an outstanding organic bakery with amazing chocolate chip, macadamia, banana bread. We also found the Kona potato chip factory where you can find discounted chips which just as good as the ones in the grocery stores.

We saw wild turkeys on the property and there are tidal pools which are close, where we saw sea turtles. We went to the volcano and waterfalls near Hilo where our daughters took the Eco Adventures zipline tour over a waterfall. This was the highlight of the trip for them.

There is Costco on the end of town near the airport. Gas prices here were 70 cents less per gallon than any of the other gas stations. Costco also had fresh seafood and macadamia chocolates.

Patty was great to work with, and we thoroughly enjoyed our entire visit. We also drove north to the beaches of Kohala (A Bay, Hapuna, and Mauna Kea). These were all beautiful beaches but the snorkeling was definitely not as good as Two Step and Captian Cook.

All and all we had a wonderful vacation, and we will definitely come back.

COULDN'T HAVE BEEN ANY BETTER

Couldn't have been any better
  • 5 of 5
This townhome was a perfect for us. We were traveling with our 84 yr old mother and she couldn't have been more pleased. We would go snorkeling for the am and she was so happy to sit and watch for whales and dolphins.. (yes we saw both). The location was ideal for short day trips. It was hard to get her to go home. We will be back

BEAUTIFUL AND ROMANTIC GETAWAY!

  • 5 of 5
I stayed here for a week in July of last year and wow, what a stunning place! Literally ON the OCEAN, you can hear waves crashing as you sleep. ROMANTIC and cute, this place exceeded all my expectations. Walking distance to a small beach with tide-pools, and close to any activities you could think of in town, it is a DREAM spot. It is right across the street from the pool and there was fully-stocked cupboards with spices and some basics, and the grocery store is right up the street. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a comforting and cute rental in the heart of Kailua-Kona.
