This is a completely non-smoking unit.

This modern 1 bedroom, 1 bath is part of an 8 unit historical building that was completely remodeled in 2006. It has limestone floors, slate counter tops, Bosch appliances and a huge open kitchen. The marble bath and glass and Wedge wood vanity complete the best way to enjoy your stay in South Beach. Flat screen TV with 100s of cable channels for your entertainment as well as WiFi Internet access. Condo is right in the middle of South Beach -- walking distance to all the bars, nightclubs, beaches and restaurants, but still located on a quiet residential street. If you aren't here to play, the condo has the easiest access to the causeway to head downtown and to work or to the I-95. As long time locals we will even share with you our favorite spots!!

We bought the entire building in 2004 and remodeled it from top to bottom. It was literally rebuilt in place as it was an historic building from 1924. This makes it not your average vacation rental from the Bosch appliances to the hurricane impact windows. We furnished the listing for our personal use so we think that also sets us apart from your average South Beach Rental.

We live in Aspen, CO and come and go from our South Beach Rental. I love that I can WALK ANYWHERE -- and I do. My husband loves that he can take a taxi anywhere on the beach for around $4. Our 7 year old son loves that we can walk to the amazing kids park 1.5 blocks away.

Both my husband and I use the tennis courts that are just 1 block away. The Whole Foods -- 2 blocks away -- is super handy. I love how big the apartment feels -- even though it is a 1 bedroom it has the feeling of space and separate areas. Even though when you are in South Beach you are on the go with so much to do -- the big sectional sofa is nice to come home to and watch some TV.

I tell everyone -- one experience not to be missed is renting a beach chair at the Delano hotel -- 17th Ave and Collins. The best $20 you will ever spend !!! Also order a Nina Fresa (cocktail) as Sushi Samba on Lincoln Road at the corner with Pennsylvania. Email us for more tips or read on !!

Many of our guests have come from outside of the US (Brazil, Italy, England, Switzerland, France and Canada) and I have struck up email friendships with so many!! We love to travel and hope you will enjoy your vacation in our vacation place!!

Oliver's Bistro at 9th and West is right around the corner and I love it. not expensive good food and wine — close by. $$

Sushi Samba — Lincoln Road and pennsylvania — BEST Sushi — siting outside and people watching — cocktail — Nina Fresa $$ - $$$$

Lime — fresh mexican — super casual and awesome — skinny fish burrito is amazing — really casual at 14th and alton — super near condo $

Ocean front lunch at Ritz Carlton -- worth it $$ - $$$

Tapas y Tintos on Espanola Way — loud live Flamenco music on some nights nice outdoor quieter tables with great Spanish Tapas $$

I love Nikki beach for lunch NOT on Sundays when it is a crazy party $$ - $$$$

Prime 112 is amazing ridiculous steak but you will spend easily over $150 for 2 people $$$$$

Monty's Oyster bar on the bay — a little spring break looking but great raw bar happy hour — 3rd or 2nd and Alton $$ - $$$

Yardbird at 16th and Lenox is the new in spot -- AND IT NOT CRAZY EXPENSIVE -- it is sort of modern Southern Food and YUMMY $$ - $$$

Rosa Mexicano on Lincoln road -- amazing guacamole and Sangria !! $$$

Mr Chow's at the W hotel — crazy expensive, amazing and fun Chinese food and see and be seen $$$$$

About Elizabeth

Tomas and I have recently moved from Costa Rica to Aspen, Colorado. We lived in South Beach and Coral Gables for 4 years before departing for Costa Rica with our son for 5 years. We have an Argentinian Dogo and a Cane Corso -- big dogs -- that complete our family. Our business is Real Estate Development and we use HomeAway for pleasure (Barcelona, St Tropez, Salt Lake City) as well as a part of our business. The best thing about vacation rentals is the people we meet virtually and for real !!

Why Elizabeth chose South Beach

We fell in love with this building and began to remodel it in 2004 in the middle of Elizabeth's chemotherapy for breast cancer. In February 2014, Elizabeth will reach the 10 year mark cancer free. The building is filled with good Karma -- when we had 5 major hurricane in 18 months, the trees always fell away from the building !! We love it when we stay here. It is an amazing Art Deco 1924 building that we redid down to the bare studs and rebuilt it in place for a year and a half !!

What makes this condo unique

We are on a quiet residential street, but just a 10 minute walk to the Ocean and 8 minutes to bars and nightclubs -- or a $5 can ride if you are in heels !! We are 1.5 blocks from Flamingo Park with the pool and kids pool park, tennis courts, soccer fields and kids park. We are 2 blocks from Whole Foods and 5 blocks from the big Publix. We have a Deco bike station 1/2 a block away !! You don't need a car, but we have parking if you have one !!

What makes our property the most unique is that is was fully remodeled and furnished to be a vacation rental and one that we use ourselves. We skimped on nothing from WiFi to a fully equipped kitchen to mattresses !!

The pix looked much better than in perso. Weve rented many via VRBO & always had good luck. This one, not so much. Another guest left the day we arrived; bed linens were so wrinkled & rumpled my hubby asked whether the sheets were not changed! Floors were a bit griity; shower grout was so dark we did not shower for fear it was either dirt ot mildew. Condo was so dark it felt like a basement - but it was becase all blinds were shut tight as all windows were street-level & anyone coulk see in. View was of cars in an alley, and another bldg not 3 ft away with their windows & doors! Felt very unsafe & extra lock on the door. Leftover food was in freezer & cabinets. Furniture ALL Ikea with chips & damages. Never stayed in a place like this since college - but that was for only $75/night! Extremely disappointed.

Owner's Response: It hurts me so deeply to read this review because we care so much about our guest's experience and what you write is simply not true. This is born out by the 30 reviews we have received over 6 years with an average score of 4.9 stars.

If you look at these reviews they all talk about the cleanness of the apartment and how well it is equipped and how it is exactly as pictured. The furniture is from Ikea. It is exactly what is in the pictures although I believe we did just buy new coffee tables and so they are newer than pictured. When we spoke on the phone you said how much your architect husband enjoyed the design of the condo.

We do leave spices and sugar in the cabinets for our guest's benefit so you do not have to spend extra money.

We did have guests check out in the morning -- we have a very popular condo -- and then the apartment was thoroughly cleaned and of course the linens were changed. I am sorry they looked rumpled to you -- it is true we do not iron them.

We have never had complaints about the condo being dark. We have lovely palm trees and other landscaping planted outside the windows. It is true this condo faces the alley. This is an 8 unit Art Deco building and 2 condos face the garden and 2 face they alley on the first floor. You are the first to complain about the proximity of other buildings. We are located in the heart of the Miami Art Deco Historic district known for its small, cute, closely placed buildings.

We installed that 2nd lock on the door because we stayed there with our son when he was 2 and he was able to open the door. The 2nd lock is high up and keeps toddlers inside. I am so sorry it made you feel uncomfortable. Families have appreciated it.

While your review hurts and confuses me, I am buoyed up by all 30 of the other completely positive and happy reviews we have !!!

The place was great!

First off, Elizabeth did a great job with the place. The bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room area (with futon) were fabulous. Throw in the parking and the walking distance to beach, restaurants, etc and you couldn't ask for anything better.
I may just book now for next year since things were that good. Wifi, TV...this place had it all.
Elizabeth was also REALLY helpful in finding restaurants and emergencies that came up during the week. You cannot beat that.

Thanks again Elizabeth and apologies for getting the review done so late. I may be back there at the same time next year so maybe hold that week for me!

Wonderful experience!

This condo is just the best!! Our goal was to find a place that was not in a center of everyday Miami party. There were 4 of us: my husband and I and my parents. This property was super clean and spacious. We had plenty of space for 4 of us. It has everything you could only think of. It felt like our own home. Only minutes away from the beach and had everything we needed right around the corner. Only One block away from whole foods and Walgreens. The fact that our favorite grocery store is right around the corner felt great. Cuz we cooked at home a lot. You can get anywhere from this property in minutes or u can rent a bike ( that's what we did) cuz it was only a block away. And it was so much fun. Elizabeth ( the owner) was a wonderful host, from my first email to her to the end of our stay! She even send us a list of the places in the area where to eat at or just to check it out! That list actually helped us a lot:) such a sweet person!! Thank you Elizabeth!! Can't wait to spend my next vacation at your property !!!

Beyond expectation!!

Elizabeth was an amazing host from start to finish! She was very accommodating and made sure we had all of the information we needed to make our stay as relaxing as possible Overall, a fantastic experience, and I'll definitely put this spot on the top of my list of places to stay! Everything was exactly as described! Super clean, close to the beach, modern design that has everything you need! The door codes were amazing, no keys to worry about! Free parking! We loved the apartment, the location was perfect and having a Whole Foods so close was a massive bonus, too! Highly recommend!

Get value for a really good condo

Description of the condo was accurate. The condo was clean and was well maintained. The correspondence with Elizabeth was prompt.
The area was safe and the condo was a good place to stay while we were in South Beach for a week. The bed was comfy and the condo overall was really good value for money. The recommendations that were made for the local eateries was really helpful. Wouldn't hesitate in staying in this condo again or recommending to friends or relatives.

We are located right in the middle of South Beach -- a 15 minute stroll (or a $4 cab ride to Lincoln Road and all the shops, restaurants and movies and 10 - 12 minutes to the ocean. We are 1.5 blocks from Flamingo Park and tennis, swimming, kids and dog parks !!
