Guestbook comments from the owner
We just celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary on Sept 16th We enjoy our stay, so delighted you shared your home with us :) We fished the pond & lake. My son came over & fished with us-memories: a priceless gem

We saw a deer, a hawk with a fish in its claws, & a little bunny rabbit.

The home is nice, big & supplied all we needed.

Slept in master suite. Played ping pong & fuseball! Thank you

PEACEFUL AND RELAXING

  • 5 of 5
I would recommend this property to my friends and relatives. We had a very peaceful and relaxing time. Very large property, lots of wooded acreage that fronts on the lake. Very nice dock area. We enjoyed sitting down there by the water. I enjoyed walking the trails thru the woods. My husband has a little trouble getting around so he rented one of the golf carts that are available so he could accompany me. The owner was very nice and helpful. The view from the living area, master bedroom and back deck was nice as it overlooks the woods and pond. The living dining area is large and open, as is the master bedroom. There was foosball and pingpong available in the game room. Also there was a large screened in outdoor pool. We couldn't take advantage of it as the weather was too cool. The property was clean and has a well stocked kitchen. All in all, we were very happy staying there and would go back.

GREAT FOR TOURNAMENT ANGLERS!

  • 4 of 5
The four of us stayed here during the ABA nationals in october of 13. We had a great time fishing and staying at this rustic home. We had no trouble parking our four bassboats and trucks. Plenty of hookups for under 50ft. of drop cords. Less than 20mins from most boat ramps on that side of the lake and easy to get to on those country Georgia roads! Penny was a great host and offered any assistance needed. The boat dock is a hick through a wooded trail that is pretty neat. Penny will ask if you could release any fish in her pond if you could. We did! Would love to know the history behind this home as I'm sure you will!!

THANKSGIVING 2013

  • 4 of 5
If you are seeking a beautiful, wooded, get away from it all location-this is it. Beautiful area for walks in the woods and to the lake. Take your supplies as the "real" grocery store we found was 20 minutes away. Owner was WONDERFUL-even subscribing to satellite TV sports package so we could watch football rivalry games. She was on site, easy to reach, but totally unobtrusive. Large open kitchen and living area-great for our large crowd. Kitchen was adequately stocked and we prepared our own Thanksgiving dinner in house with only large roaster brought from home. Three bedrooms, each with their own full bath, and single level home was just we needed. I do agree with the one reviewer that the furnishings could use some updating, but beds were comfortable and plentiful and lots of seating in kitchen and den. I would warn those taking pets that there are a number of specimens of taxidermy that brought growls from one of our dogs. If the dog had entered the house first, the taxidermy may have been in danger. We would stay here again!!!

NOT A "LAKE HOME"

NOT a "Lake Home"
  • 1 of 5
First let us state this “Lake Home” is not on the lake. We were very much looking forward to enjoying a lake house, even if just to look at it out the back deck, as the listing implies. It has no lake view (despite that implied by the photo). No idea how they got that photo. It has no lake access. A lake, either a view, or access is a critical amenity for a rental described as a “Lake Home”. There is no dock (note – there is no pic of that!). We brought a kayak, but had to drive it to the Corps of Engineers parkland to use it.

We were looking forward to biking and due to the claim that bikes were available, did not bring our own. There were no bikes. There was also no exercise equipment, unless foosball and ping-pong are your idea of exercise equipment. That's certainly not the equivalent of a weight machine, stair climber or even a treadmill in our book. The muddy, less than ¾ acre pond is stocked with bluegill, perhaps.

The king bed was rock hard, and cheap so that either person moving rocked the whole bed , so we got little sleep. The sliding door in the master cannot be opened – there's a big sign – Do not use except in emergency. Master bathtub had no handles on the valves...I guess that means you can't use it for a bath, and it looks shabby, too. Deck furniture – dirty, and old, chair webbing was replaced with plywood. Other chairs look recycled from a hospital ward – straight back steel frame, vinyl upholstery.

If you loose power you will have NO WATER! We lost power twice and had no water for a day and a half. Really unhappy after coming in off the road and we couldn't clean up before going to bed, or in the morning. No water also means we couldn't flush the toilets – not nice! We can live without power for a while, but water is pretty critical – owners should have a generator, if only to ensure a water supply.

The screened in pool is looking pretty tired. Odd cobble of vinyl siding and screen with gaps in the structure, plus a big hole in the top so yes, there were bugs. Cable TV is super-basic mostly with home-shopping channels. If you like WiFi, you need to bring a WiFi rounter with you to connect to the CAT5 cable on the desk in the hall. No idea the speed -- had no router so could not use internet. All-in-all, very little to do here and nothing to see. The listing is deceptive, and inaccurate, and the property is not well maintained. We will not be going back, and we would not recommend it to friends.

Owner's Response: THIS IS A COUNTRY LAKE FRONT HOME!
All of the acreage on this property is lake front. The listing does not claim lake view from the home. The photo was taken from the covered private dock accessible to renters. The home has a view of a private pond stocked with fish including catfish, bass, bream and crappie. The covered private dock is 1600 ft (to keep it in deep water) from the house and golf carts are available to rent to get to and from covered dock. A Kayak can be launched just 400 feet from the home.

The previous renters had disabled the bicycles and they were being repaired. We recently had to remove exercise equipment because of children unsupervised use. Exercise equipment and bicycles are now available upon request only.

There are six sliding glass doors in the home and the master bedroom sliding door was under repair thus the sign. The master tub handles were on order and have been replaced. (There is a separate shower in the master bedroom).

We have had an incredible amount of rain and thunderstorms this season in Georgia. We have no control over power outages or mother nature. We provide candles, flashlights and water if renters need it. There is information in the home on how to contact owners if renters need anything! THIS IS A COUNTRY LAKE HOME.

The pool is an outdoor, inground pool with a screen enclosure to assure debris and wildlife stay out of the pool area.

Satelite TV is basic with local channels. Broadband service is in the home.

We will take under advisement about the outdoor furniture and will update soon.

We are so sorry these renters had an unhappy experience. We wish we could have known their displeasure at the time so we could have addressed some of their issues.
