Charming small house located in the center of Broyes on the Route Touristique de Champagne. Broyes is a historic village overlooking the champagne vineyards with an impressive 16th century church located directly in front.
This rental is a fully equipped one bedroom home with a kitchen/living room, fireplace, television, bedroom with a queen size bed, bathroom with a shower and toilet, and a private patio garden with table, chairs and barbecue attached to the bedroom. Furnished with family heirlooms and antiques, this home makes for a truly authentic French experience.
This is a perfect place to visit the Champagne area. Nestled in the vineyards and close to all the famous cellars in Epernay and Reims (Veuve Cliquot, Moët...) the location makes it easy to buy all your favorite Champagne and even some lesser known local ones too.
10 minutes away is the quaint city of Sezanne where you will find wonderful boulangeries and charming restaurants and boutiques. Full of beautiful architecture and friendly people, this small city is a treasure in the Champagne region.
We've lived in the village since 1985. When the little house in front of ours went for sale, we decide to buy it; to extend our house, to receive more family and friends and to enjoy the visit of people from all over the word .
This place was EXACTLY what we wanted for our week away! The fireplace is fantastic and warms the entire place up! It was just what we wanted for a winter break! A very peaceful and quiet location and had everything we needed to be very comfortable (and very lazy) for the week! It is a good location to explore the Champagne region, which we did. We learned a tremendous amount about champagne and managed to drink a fair amount of it as well! Highly recommended. Dominique is lovely and very helpful. It was simply perfect!
I stayed at this lovely cottage in Broyes as part of a month-long wine education journey through France and Italy. The location was an excellent home base for my purpose - Epernay is about a 45 minute drive, Reims just over an hour, but dozens of other producers are within a short distance. There are even a few in producers in the little town of Broyes, just five minutes' walk from the cottage. (My favorite visit was to Champagne Jeaunaux-Robin, an independent grower-producer in Talus-Saint-Prix - a 20 minute drive from Broyes.) The grocery store in Sezanne is also a very quick and easy drive.
The cottage was exactly as described in the listing and in the photos. The living area with the fireplace was the highlight of my entire month of traveling - I spent many hours relaxing, reading, blogging and drinking Champagne on the sofa with the fire crackling! The kitchen was very well-stocked, both with utensils/pots/pans/dishes and with staples (salt, pepper, spices, oils, pasta, coffee, etc.). Wi-fi worked well - no issues at all with getting or staying connected.
Dominique was a gracious and accommodating hostess. The booking, check-in and check-out processes all went very smoothly. There were lots of books, magazines and brochures for Champagne producers in the cottage, which was how I found Jeaunaux-Robin.
I would not hesitate to recommend this property to friends or colleagues traveling to the Champagne region, and will most certainly return myself if I am ever in the region. Merci beaucoup, Dominique!
We very much enjoyed our stay in this charming home in the heart of a Champagne country! We were able to tour the region easily from our home-base, doing day-trips to Epernay, Reims, and many of the surrounding villages and towns of the region. The house was well-equipped for cooking and the lovely courtyard was a perfect setting for our breakfast and evening meals and a glass of champagne! We especially enjoyed meeting Gorge, who helped us settle in, as our hostess was away at the time of our visit. He also recommended an interesting family-run champagne maison for us to visit, one of the highlights of the trip. Thank you for an excellent stay, we really enjoyed ourselves! (Oh, and your own car is a must in this area, as there are no stores, restaurants or services in Broyes, the nearest town is Sezanne, about 8 km away).
Charming , basic accommodations in a rural village in the mist of independent wine growers. Cozy fireplace in main room ; lovely patio , surrounded by foliage for privacy . 5minute drive into nearest village of Cezanne for supplies and cafes and a good restaurant. Very comfortable for 2 persons and the very helpful and gracious owner is next door ready and available for any needs you may have.
Everything we wanted. Quiet, pretty, and charming. Highly recommended.
The listing description was accurate and the patio area was much bigger than we expected. The house is verty comfortable and equipped with everything you need (cooking ware etc.) including a bright spacious bathroom. Dominique was not able to greet us but her neighbor Jorge met us at the house. Jorge was a fantastic host and went out of his way to actually drive us to his friend's champagne house. Jorge is an amazing person with many stories and a big heart. Everything you could possibly want is in driving distance and when you are done, you come back to the beautiful tranquil environment of Broyes and Dominique's house. I would highly recommend Dominique's house and the surrounding area.
