Beautiful house and smartly decorated.

We had an absolutely wonderful week staying in Lucas' beautiful home which sits up above Lake Champlain with nice views of the valley including some of the Lake. The house is very nicely renovated, appointed, decorated and maintained. It seems cozy yet with plenty of spaces to be quiet. The location is provides ready access to the ferry that will take you over to the NY side of the Lake. It is close enough to Burlington to enjoy all that there is to offer in that wonderful City but far enough to feel that you've "gotten away". We would gladly stay here again.

Wonderful in every respect!

This house rental was the perfect home base for our family vacation in Shelburne. The house is spacious, thoughtfully appointed, and has plenty of comfortable room inside and out! We stayed here with our four children, who loved running around in the HUGE backyard and rolling down the hills. The neighbors were very kind to us, and Lucas was on top of all matters to ensure our comfort. Charlotte is a pretty and walkable town. We loved walking down to the corner market each morning for coffee (<5 minutes away), and a little farther down the road, the volunteer firefighters waved my kids over for an impromptu tour and told us lots of great things about the town of Charlotte. We also loved exploring the library across the street from the fire dept and, in the opposite direction from town, the winery/blueberry farm. 10 minute drive from Shelburne even during "rush hour" mornings -- Shelburne Farm and Inn, Shelburne Museum, terrific restaurants (Rustic Root), great supermarket delis for surprisingly good picnic fare, Flying Pig bookstore, coffee shop, etc. We were also very close to the ferry for a nice little half-day walk in a charmingly preserved small town in NY State. Burlington and its restaurants/shops/markets were convenient, as well. Thank you, Lucas, for your hospitality!

Everything we wanted and more!

  • 5 of 5
We can't say enough good things about our stay at this lovely home. My husband and I spent the week here with our two small children (3.5 and 1 year old) and my elderly parents, and the house was perfect for all of us. We had breakfasts looking out over Lake Champlain from the kitchen table and grilled dinners in the backyard watching the sunset. The house is well located to Shelburne Farms, Shelburne Museum, Mt. Philo, Adams Farms for blueberry picking, and Burlington for the more sophisticated night out (Hen of the Woods - a must!). We walked to the general store on the corner every morning for a capuccino and far too many delicious pastries. Greenbush Road is one of the most beautiful in the region adn Lucas was incredibly nice and very responsive. We followed almost all of his suggestions for sights and meals. We cant wait to go back!

Great place!

We rented this home for our daughters graduation from UVM.
It was the perfect spot. This home was clean, comfortable, quaint, and so charming! It was a short drive to the college as well as the food stores. We enjoyed walking down to the corner store in the morning for our coffee and breakfast sandwiches.
It has a great fully equipped kitchen with wonderful views and sunsets over mountains! Lucas was a pleasure to work with. He always returned my calls when I had questions. I would highly recommend this property. I hope to return someday soon!

Graduation Getaway

  • 5 of 5
The cottage was a wonderful place to celebrate our daughter's graduation from UVM! Charlotte is a great example of New England's finest. We loved waking up every morning to the beautiful view of Lake Champlain from our bedroom's windows; it certainly put a smile on our faces! I especially loved the kitchen and the great view that I had while I was cooking. From the moment we walked into the house, it felt like we were coming home. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is seeking a true New England getaway. Not only is the cottage well maintained and clean, it is close by to many great attractions and restaurants. In fact, the Fiddlehead Brewery and pizza place on Rt. 7 is a great place to eat. The pizza comes darn close to the famous Sally's pizza on Wooster Street, New Haven, CT! We also enjoyed our tour of Shelbourne Farm and the wine tasting at the vineyard. As I told Lucas, he will be hearing from us again!

Best rental in Champlain Valley

  • 5 of 5
Over the past four years, I have rented 8 different homes in the Champlain Valley, none more than 30 minutes from Middlebury. This Charlotte house is my favorite. It is comfy, very well-equiped with just what you need for cooking and entertaining, has CABLE TV (believe me, most of them don't) and has very nice yet simple bedrooms and bathrooms with roomy showers (another rarity) and even a tub. It is also in the most idyllic neighborhood with a great country store a half block away. Perfect for your coffee, scones and egg sandwiches each morning.

The other really great thing is that it is conveniently located to great restaurants and shopping so you needn't find yourself driving 20 minutes just to get supplies or a tasty meal. Starry Night Restaurant -- 7 minutes away. Shelburne with its many great restaurants, stores, museums and farm -- 10 minutes away. Burlington, a mere 20 minutes. And the ferry to NY, just 3 minutes. Yet, when you awake each morning and gaze out over the incredible view of the Adirondack Mountains and Lake Champlain, you will feel that you are away from it all. My secret find was All Souls Interfaith Gathering which is a community center offering yoga and meditation classes in a setting that must be seen to be believed. Just a 10 minute drive or a delightful 30 minute bike ride away.

You will enjoy this home in the fall (I can attest from my 6 weeks here) and I imagine all other seasons as well.

The owner is the best and keeps his house immaculate. He is very helpful and responsive to needs you might have. You might notice some traffic noise from the cars traveling to the ferry in the morning, but it quickly begins to sound like the lull of the tide.

And if you go, do not miss the Shelburne Museum. I think it is one of Vermont's great treasures.
