Northport and Vicinity: Saturday Cove is exactly one mile to the south of the cottage . On a typical morning walk to the Cove it is not unusual to see deer, red foxes and pileated woodpeckers along the way; and upon arrival , to find a lobsterman setting out to check his traps. The changing tides present a new view every day. Belfast, an authentic working harbor, is about 10 minutes to the north. Lincolnville Beach and the Ferry Service to Islesboro is 10 minutes to the South. Continuing south another 5 minutes brings you to Camden, one of the most beautiful Maine harbors and home to many of Maine's windjammer fleet. Just a few miles inland one finds secluded Knight's Pond and Pitcher Pond and Lake Megunticook protected by Mount Battie, Bald and Ducktrap Mountains, with hiking trails that offer incredible views of the Penobscot Bay.
