What a wonderful experience… from beginning to end.
Lisa
Lisa, the owner/manager of the rental agency was wonderful. We contacted Lisa via HomeAway. She explained everything and took the time to discuss out particular needs and concerns. I found Lisa very open and honest. Our only surprises were pleasant ones. Lisa met us a mile or two from the house and escorted us in. She had flowers and a few snacks on hand when we entered the house. She toured the house with us and made us feel incredibly welcome.
The House
Wow! I cannot say enough about this house. The house is beautiful, but in no way pretentious. There are lots of windows. The two original bedrooms are upstairs. One is a master bedroom with an on-suite. The other, is a smaller room (with trundle day bed and bunk beds) with an on-suite of its own. Other than that, the upstairs landing houses a laundry area (enclosed washer and dryer). Downstairs is a well stocked kitchen, dinette and living area. The garage has been converted to a great room of sorts that is huge. The room has a large wrap around sofa (with recliners) that pulls out to a bed. The windows in this room are spectacular. There is one ½ bath downstairs (so all showers/baths are upstairs and they are both on-suite to bedrooms). With the seven of us (all adults, including 3 senior citizens) we were all very comfortable. Lots of room… to sleep, sit, talk, and relax. The house has wireless internet, TV, DVD’s and a game station (sorry can’t remember the type), and a few books. Lisa had stocked the house well with all the incidentals we needed.
The dock / Lake Austin
In front of the house is a lane/private drive to access the house and the few other houses on the same lane/drive. Other than that… you are on Lake Austin. Out the door and across the lane and you are on a wooden dock that stretches out onto the lake. A beautiful shade tree arches up and over and gives quite a bit of shade throughout the day. We spent a lot of time on that dock. It was so peaceful and quiet. We loved it. Once and a while a fish would jump or a bird would pass by. The lake traffic was very modest (on Sunday and during the work week) and not noisy at all. We needed a place to relax and be together and the dock was the ultimate.
The back yard
Beautiful…. The grass is soft and thick. We went walking around barefoot it was so nice. The oak tree in the back is incredible. It almost dwarfs the house.
