Old Florida Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We left Chicago In January minutes before a blizzard hit and landed in Fort Myers with the best weather in the country. We arrived at the Beachfront Tortuga and discovered Paradise in Old Florida. The view took our breath away. This romantic location has everything: sparkling waves, walks along sugar sand beaches, gorgeous sunsets; all in the front yard.

The galley kitchen is large and fully equipped with everything useful. There is ample dining seating for eight with additional seating on the deck. Beds are comfortable with flat screen televisions in every room. The master bedroom is beachside with a panoramic view of the water. Street side there is much off street parking and the noise from Estero Blvd. is minimal. Restaurants, stores and nightlife are very close. The two inside baths are recently renovated. There is an outside bath with shower in the laundry area which is very helpful.

The front yard is nicely secluded, extremely quiet, peaceful and presents beautiful views of the Gulf of Mexico and its sunsets. The yard extends to the beach, has natural Florida landscaping and a brick bordered fire pit for those rare cool evenings.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning to paradise.

A little piece of heaven

  • 5 of 5

We just got home after spending a wonderful week at this house!! I miss it and want to go back right now!! We vacationed with our family of 4 and another family of five. Ages ranging from 10-44. The house was as described or maybe even better. I loved the close proximity to the beach but my most favorite thing was spending the evenings outside around the fire pit with my family and friends. We had a slight problem with a BBQ not working properly so we phoned the property management people and they brought a small replacement one immediately. The next day they showed up with a big brand new one. I would say that was exceptional service!! Look forward to vacationing at this house again and would recommend it anyone and everyone. In fact we did recommend it to the border patrol guard on the way home. Thanks for allowing us to experience this little piece of heaven!!

excellent beachhouse

  • 5 of 5

This was an excellent location and beautiful beach. Spent week with my family, and we all had a marvelous time. Quiet, tranquil, beautiful property. Beach house has all the ammenities. We had excellent weather so did not spend much if any time in the house. Great porch. Much time spent observing the beautiful nature scape, swimming and walking the beach..Will definately be back.

Great place, safety and security concerns

  • 2 of 5

Six of us (all 50+ adults) stayed in this beautiful cottage at a great beach location in April. The other reviews are accurate as this place is truly wonderful. Unfortunately, we experienced significant security issues while staying at this property. On our first night, there was an attempted entry through the kitchen window (accessible from the roof of the carport) and vandalism to 2 cars parked just outside the cottage. 2 days later, an intruder entered the cottage while we were sitting on the beach front side of the property in the middle of the afternoon, stole hundreds of dollars in cash from 2 purses left in our bedrooms and stole 2 gold rings. Police was called and reports were filed. Concerned for our safety, we asked to be moved to a different property. If you stay at this property, ask for the security code to the entry door to be changed to a new code, keep all lights on at night (even if they asked to turn them off due to turtle season) and ask for a safe for your valuables. Of all vacations away we have taken, this was our first experience with criminal events, not a great way to spend a well deserved holiday. Property owner was less than sympathetic to our experience.

Owner's Response: This guest had an unfortunate experience, however they take no responsibility for the event which is both sad and disturbing. For the first couple days they continued to call my local property manager to come over because they were having issues. Couldn't figure out remote control for TV, wanted to get into locked owners closet, the list goes on. Each time he showed up the door was unlocked and they claimed it was too complicated for them to figure out?? Each time the propert manager explained the keyless door system with the additional security latch. Upon being contacted by this guest, I was threatened that if I didn't make good for the "Missing Items" that they would go to the internet to warn everyone. I tried to explain that if you rent a car and leave your wallet in the unlocked car it isn't the fault of the rental car agency. Very sad how some people still can't take responsibility for their actions. On a final note, Please be aware that the turtles are Federally protected. You need to follow the rules. You can leave your interior lights on all night long as long providing the drapes are closed. You have to be careful of outside lighting rules. The rules ( which this guest wants you to ignore are posted clearly). I truly love this property and hope that every one who has the oportunity to visit has the same experience as all of my other guests. All feel free to contact me Bill

GREAT Beach Front Home

  • 5 of 5

Our family came down to Fort Myers Beach for the very first time and stayed at this home, it was WONDERFUL! I have a 6 month old and a 2 1/2 year old, and it worked perfect. The house is well maintained, clean and close to the restaurants and shops of FMB. But the walk out the sliding glass back door was spectacular! The back yard was ideal for kids, having shade at certain parts of the day and having the beach right there. My husband and I would sit out back at night and enjoy the view! I would recommend this house to any one! Thanks for the great vacation Tortuga house!

Loved this house

  • 5 of 5

I searched for months and months looking online for a Gulf house rental that had direct beach frontage, space for 9 people, and was reasonably priced. This house was perfect. Lots of other places online that have "beach front" in their description are really several buildings away from the beach. This house is directly on the soft white sand of the beach, and you can watch the ocean from the master bedroom, living room, and dining areas. It was clean, the decor is simple and lovely and the kitchen had everything we needed. The laundry room is in a room separate from the house behind the carport and has a bathroom in it, which was a really convenient as you can use the restroom there without bringing sand into the house or wash yourself or little ones off with the handheld sprayer in the shower before bringing them back inside after playing in the sand. The area is quiet, and we had the beach in front of the house all to ourselves. After walking up and down the beach I found that this house had the nicest location, close to the water and with greenery on either side of it making it feel secluded. You can walk out into the water for quite a ways before it gets over your head. The management company was very friendly and prompt, opening an accidentally locked bedroom door for us within a short time of being called. Publix grocery store was conveniently just down the street and had comparable prices to Ohio, and we also enjoyed driving to get some Love Boat ice cream. I've already recommended it to several of my friends and hope to return again some day. I have always wanted to bring my children to the beach and have been saving up for the past few years and this was the perfect place. Thank you for opening your home to others.
