Acadia National Park: The cottage is only a half mile from Bass Harbor Light House, and its less than 3 miles from the nearest park entrance. Walk, bike, or drive from the back door. If you prefer to travel by kayak, launch it from the harbor shore across the road.

Charming cottage that is perfectly situated away from all the tourist hot spots, but easily accessible to Bar Harbor, Acadia, etc....The owner was helpful and very accommodating. The cottage itself is well-equipped and clean & neat as a pin. I spent a wonderful week here and can't wait to return!

McKinley Cottage, just what we needed!

This cottage was a great base for my family's exploration of Acadia. We found some of our favorite adventures without getting in the car. From the cottage we biked to some our favorite trails, and the light house about three miles away was amazing at sunset. The cottage was clean and well equipt for cooking and eating in. The owner was wonderful, providing info on Acadia's attractions and schedules.

This was a spot we were hoping to find; near Acadia, on the water, but not in the middle of a lot of tourism. We got all three with McKinley. It is large enough for two or a four person family--or close friend, and easy to access other parts of Mount Desert Island. There was one problem with shower, which the owner had told of at the outset and offered to fix if we were inconvienced, but we passed. A balconey off the upstairs along with a deck downstairs were great. Some could dislike occassional bursts of traffic from Swanns Island ferry, but this is only few times a day. Great place in one of the few places on MDI that still are working harbors.
