Perfect Home Base for Exploring MDI

My wife and I had a wonderful honeymoon at the cottage this past summer. Our late-June arrival meant beautiful, warm daytime weather, and nights cool enough to justify use of the wood-burning stove for romantic ambiance (not to mention a notable lack of those infamous blackflies we'd been warned about prior to our Maine visit). Bass Harbor was a quiet escape from the tourist-y bustle of Bar Harbor and Acadia, but close enough for daily trips into the park (as well as nearby attractions like hiking up Acadia Mountain and paddling Long Pond).
The cottage was clean, comfortable and quiet, and the view of the harbor was beautiful as advertised. The rental manager was friendly and knowledgable, and close by enough to provide assistance and recommendations when needed. The nearby town had some great restaurants, and Bar Harbor's shopping and restaurants are only a short drive away.
While staying here, be sure to stop by the seafood market on the pier across the road for fresh lobsters, crabmeat, and scallops. Don't miss a sunset from Bass Harbor Lighthouse, and definitely walk if you're able. Also, don't be afraid to pop in at the crazy-looking local bar just outside of the village - we had a fantastic night with the locals down there, enjoying games of pool, fresh raw oysters and cold mugs of beer.
We highly recommend this lovely cottage on beautiful Mount Desert Island!
