Cozy and Comfortable

My husband and I spent two wonderful weeks at this quaint, cozy farmhouse perfectly located in Rockpoort which is between Camden and Rocklund, Maine. It became our "base camp" as we explored the beauty of the Maine Mid-Coast region as well and a trip through central Maine and into New Hampshire. What I especially liked about the property was its location on a quiet street surrounded by woods on three sides. Yet, it was close to all one would want to see and do in the villages of Camden, Rockport, and Rocklund not to mention all areas on the Mid-Coast of Maine: many lighthouses, harbors, and Acadia National Park to name a few. One thing to keep in mind about the property, though, is that it is not handicap accessible.
It was very helpful that the owner lived on the property in a studio apartment. We were able to have several good conversations, and she provided us with many tips on what to see, do, and where to eat. Because she also worked during the day and at times into the evening, we did not often run into each other. However, she is most delightful so I would recommend making the time to visit with her.
It is hard to decide which restaurants we most liked. In the local area we enjoyed The Helm (Rockport), Lily Bistro (Rocklund), although a little pricey, Bricks (Rocklund) with great lunch specials, and Cappy's (Camden). We enjoyed the food at the West Street Cafe in Bar Harbor, especially their blueberry pie, the Lobster Dock in Boothbay Harbor, and the Dip Net at Port Clyde. There are so many good places to eat and others I'd like to mention, but I have forgotten their names!
Our sightseeing trips took us to many of the villages and harbors around Rockport. They are all worth exploring as are the lighthouses and museums. We especially enjoyed visiting Port Clyde, the Marshall Point Lighthouse, Acadia National Park, a drive to the top of Cadillac Mt. and wandering the streets of Bar Harbor. Two museums not to miss are the Owls Head Transportation Museum and the Farnsworth Museum. Our two day trip to North Conway NH took us to the White Mountains area. A must see for fall foliage! However, I do not recommend the Conway Scenic Railway which mainly just travelled a tight path through woods.
For us, our trip will be one we will always remember. I most heartily recommend to all my friends not only visiting Maine, but staying at this quaint, cozy farmhouse will all the necessary amenities and then some.
