DELICIOUS RELAXING VACATION

  • 5 of 5
The views in this place are spectacular. Amazingly there were no mosquitos. The cabin has 1890s authentic charm + a dishwasher! It's quite a hike up to the parking, so be prepared, but that is all part of the glacier-cut wonder of this lake--the clearest one of the finger lakes. Wifi is practically non-existent so it's great for truly unwinding. We drive in from Chicago, but it's totally worth it.

AMAZING FAMILY REUNION

  • 5 of 5
We have rented this property several times starting in 2010. Usually it is just myself and my wife and it is a great getaway for us. The water is so clear you can see the fish swim by from the screen porch. The views are amazing and we just love the quaint feel of the cabin. It reminds me of the summer camps I went to growing up in the Catskills.

This year we rented this property and property 242881 adjacent to this for a family reunion. we had 12 total and it worked out great.

The weather was great for the entire time of our stay! We have booked again this summer and can't wait to relax, unwind and enjoy the peace and quiet.

The owners are always available to meet us but now we just have them leave a key and can arrive whenever we want.

This year we are bringing 2 of our grandchildren. They had such a great time at the reunion, we are taking them with us this year.

DETOX THE KIDS

  • 5 of 5
We are City Dwellers from Newark NJ and had not had any exposure to this type of rural vacation since we were kids. We have a young son that we wanted to get away from X -box, cable, texting and the Mall.
Let us just say , it exceeded all our expectations. The drive was about three and a half hours from the City and the drive was beautiful.
The property is just like the photos with vintage charm and views that never end. The owners were out of town so they had a Neighbor Ann check us in. She was great. She made sure we knew how everything worked, made sure we were pleased with the cleanliness of the property and gave us her number in case we had questions.
It only took a day for my son to replace texting and video games with swimming, fishing off the dock and making fires in the fire pit and cooking over an open campfire.
We splurged and rented a pontoon boat for a day and got a great view of the lake.
The weather was great for the week! We never left except to get groceries.
We know this property is not for everyone but we encourage the owners to keep the rustic charm as there are not many of these properties left to enjoy!
We look forward to visiting again!

NO THANKS

  • 1 of 5
I will say the lake is beautiful. But the cabin is less desirable. It is not maintained. The placed is filled with clutter and bugs. We slept on the futon and not in the bedroom. We left a day early. The pictures are misleading. We had plastic chairs to sit on outside, a barbecue unusable, and a bug infested screen room. There was no row boat. They should be ashamed that they allow this place to be rented. Also, the bathroom floods, which means worms and some other interesting bugs. The shower has good pressure but again not maintained. We turned a wall lap down to get some more lights and dead bugs fell out. I have stayed at other cabins but this was the worse.
They should be ashamed that they rent this place out and take peoples hard earned money.

A PLACE TO GET AWAY FROM IT ALL

  • 4 of 5
We really enjoyed our stay here. The owner, Arlene, was there to greet us after we arrived, and we were really excited to see the rustic accommodations. The original cabin was built in the 1800's, and we had everything we needed in terms of dishes, pots/pans/etc. There is no air conditioning, but we never once felt hot. We loved the sleeping cabin! So cool at night with an overhead fan. Some things you should know for sure before booking: The house is BELOW the Fire lane. You will not see it from the road. Look for the house with the blue door and #6 on the door. The cabin is directly below that house. Under no circumstances should you drive your car down the driveway to the back of the house!! Unless you have a 4-wheel drive, but even then I wouldn't do it. You will have to back out of it up a steep hill and that's nearly impossible. Regarding the steep hill - I won't lie, I am completely out of shape and nearly died every time I had to go up to the car! If you are out of shape like me and plan many outings, think twice - having said that, it's a good way to kick-start getting in shape!!! However we were in the perfect location and so relaxed, we hardly ever wanted to go anywhere. With the beautiful lake right outside the door, a paddle boat and everything we needed at the house, we were totally happy doing nothing. Out T-mobile cell service did not work, but out AT&T cell phone did. Outside the door to the porch, if a red light goes on, call the owners - it means it's time to empty the septic tank. The septic guy comes out fairly quickly and you don't need to be there for him to do his job. We had some VERY heavy rains at night, and the toilet room got a little flooded. Remember - this is not a 5-star hotel, it's a cabin on a lake. For us, a little flooding was no big deal. Also, being out in the woods, you will find millipedes on the floor. No biggie. I must say, I am a mosquito magnet and I was only bit by mosquitoes a couple of times - a near miracle, and quite frankly, enough of a reason for me to return! Everything I wrote here was not a criticism - we came home relaxed and refreshed and were very happy there! I had one of the best vacations in my life at this house, and enjoyed every minute of it. Bring your GPS - it makes life easier. And enjoy being disconnected from the world - I know we did!!! Thank you Arlene, and we hope to see you again.
