We've been renting this home for a number of years, and I'm reviewing it here at the request of the owner. I don't want to review it, because I don't want anyone else to rent this house. I want to keep it for my family's summer vacations forever.
At the time of this review, I have three children under 7. We've rented this home 5 times, and have already made memories to last a lifetime. The short, picture-perfect walks to the beach. Dinners on the back deck. Sandcastles. Clamming and catching crabs in the tidal pools. Renting paddle boards and kayaks. Teaching the kids how to swim in the surf. Annual photos of the children on the bridge to the beach—a document of their growth. Movie nights at home. Trips to Candy Manor in town, and a tradition of eating the booty with the kids at the bandstand in the park around the corner. Local babysitters allowing Mom and Dad a night out at any of the wonderful restaurants in Chatham and nearby. Walks in town. Breakfasts of Chatham Bakery doughnuts on the upper porch. I could go on and on.
The house itself is a dream. Humble but luxurious, with all you need for a beach vacation. Plenty of beds, air conditioning for hot or humid days, chairs and karts to port everything to the beach. It is luxurious, but not ostentatious—which is important to me, in terms of the kids. The location is simply stunning. If I were asked what were the most serene, beautiful moments of my life, the walk over the bridge at the beginning and end of the day is the first image that would come to mind.
A friend of mine takes his family somewhere new every year, looking for the perfect place. We were lucky to find it—and committing to making memories there annually is half of that equation. Already, my kids know the books in the house, where the games are, or to use the dining room table for jigsaw puzzles. I can't recommend this home enough. Our house at home is adorned with photos from our trips, and a vase in our family room contains a few shells from each visit. Just thinking of the house, as I write this in the depths of a very snowy, cold March, is making me long for a walk to the beach with my son, getting buried there by my daughters, and an end-of-day sunset walk with my wife.
Just don't rent it on the week I want!
This is a perfect find for families that are looking for a quiet neighborhood. We are returning for our third summer! Pictures don't capture how lovely this home is. The house is very clean, beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. Air conditioning and outside shower are wonderful for hot summer days. Upstairs bedrooms are large and airy. All beds are very comfortable. The deck and grill set the scene for relaxing, seafood dinners. Lots of delicious places near by to bring home meals too! Owners are wonderfully helpful and respond to any questions you might have. They know the area well and can make your stay even better with recommendations that are spot on.
Perfect location; a short walk to a child friendly beach, close to town shops and markets. We enjoyed summer theater shows, yoga on the town beach, walks with gorgeous ocean views and summer baseball games. So much to do and yet also a great spot to just relax.
We have stayed here multiple times and plan to keep returning. The house is beautiful. Very comfortable and the owner's continually update it. Clean, bright, modern but still has traditional Cape Cod charm. We love eating out on the large deck & morning coffee on the balcony. Easy walk to the beach perfect for our kids (2 and 5 years old). They love the creek, which is shallow and warm and full of interesting sea creatures. Chatham is our favorite town on the Cape. Great restaurants, library and shops. The house is close to everything but in a peaceful, quiet neighborhood. Ridgevale beach is beautiful.
Ridgevale Beach is one of the most beautiful spots on the Cape. Our neighborhood Bucks Creek overlooks both the marsh and beach and has a private foot bridge to the beach. The Beach is wonderful for families with warm calm water on the marsh side where kids can crab, wade, play in the tidal pools and float with the tide. The long Nantucket Sound sandy beach is perfect for strolls, shelling and swimming in the gentle waves.
Chatham is a great location for day trips to the National Seashore, Provincetown, whale watching and the ferry to Nantucket.
