Lovely two-level house on Little Pleasant Bay in Orleans, MA with 1000 feet of river frontage- great for boating or swimming. Lovely views and peaceful porch with mature plantings in the yard. Fresh water swimming in Pilgrim Lake is a short walk from the house. House overlooks a nature preserve with hiking trails and more great views! Orleans Center is a 5 minute drive and Nauset Beach (ocean) is just 10 minutes from the house. Everything that is wonderful about Cape Cod is just outside your front door. This is our beautiful family home, upgraded for summer rentals. Comfortable new beds, flat screen TVs (with cable and wi-fi), washer and dryer, clothesline, air conditioning, outdoor rinse-off shower, new gas grill. Bright, private and beautifully furnished with original artwork and an extensive library.

This house is located in a mature neighborhood with plenty of privacy. There is easy access to boating on the salt water river and Little Pleasant Bay, as well as swimming (with lifeguard in the summer) at Pilgrim Lake, a short walk from the house. Just 3 miles from the ocean beach and close to Orleans Center. Movies, theater, hiking, bird watching. Relax and have a real vacation!

What you will need: You will need to bring your own sheets, pillowcases and bath towels and beach towels. You can also choose to rent these from our local source. If you want to park at the ocean beach, you may want to get a temporary parking permit from the Town of Orleans. Otherwise you will need to pay a modest fee each time you park there. We have three adult sized life vests for our row boat. We've tried to think of everything, but this is our first season renting the house so we look forward to suggestions from our tenants.

a great cape vacation with something for everyone

We hosted a large family -union and this proved to be a perfect locale. The interior of the house was warm and had the prefect blend of large common spaces in the great room, a screened porch where we ate all our meals and enjoyed the views of the bay (yes we saw sailboats in the canal just like the picture on the website), and well dispersed bedrooms to give everyone their free space ( including plenty of showers for everyone) - all of this while maintaining the charm of a "classic" cape cod house.
As 20 year Cape veterans (primarily Orleans and Chatham) this house opened our eyes to the beautiful lakes that are less than a mile away which was great for our young children. In general the house was amazingly private yet less than 10 minutes from ocean and bay beaches and even closer to town for shopping. The only things we missed were an enclosed outdoor shower and a bit more pure outside "hanging-out space" as the many trees and beautiful plants were abundant. However, this was all offset by the beauty of the location and the pure "live-ability" of the house.

Lovely scenery

What a lovely place overlooking the water. We really enjoyed our breakfasts in the screen porch overlooking the river, barbecuing for dinner and going for a quick ride in the row boat down the river. Beautiful scenery and relaxing atmosphere. We also loved going to the beach (short drive) and taking a walk to the lake. The place is very cozy and has lovely original art in almost every room. We just had an exceptional time in the place and in Orleans.

Just back from an extraordinary vacation experience at this cape retreat magnificently situated on one of Orleans many bays. Simply took our breaths away. Put in your kayak or bicycle from your door. An artists dream, this was way beyond anything we had imagined.
