Our home is new and beautifully appointed, with eastern views providing beautiful morning sunrises to start your day. With 2 available bedrooms, plus 2 1/2 baths we can accommodate a cozy, romantic long weekend for two or a family and their children. The master offers a King-sized bed, and there is another bedroom available with 4 twin bunk beds easily sleeping 6 people in total. The main level offers an open, exposed-beam vaulted ceiling and a fantastic full wall of windows with views out to the mountains and valleys of Big Canoe. You will love relaxing on the screened-in deck plus have the pleasure of a large deck on the main and another on the terrace level where sun, cool mountain breezes and comfortable evenings together over meals, tea or drinks can be enjoyed by you and your guests. Our kitchen is fully modern and equipped where you will find everything you need to create meals that complement your stay.

Big Canoe has miles of beautiful walking trails, three mountain lakes, many streams and waterfalls, golf (voted one of 20 best courses in Georgia), tennis, two outdoor pools, a sandy beach, and a well-appointed fitness center with an Olympic-sized indoor pool. Notes: Big Canoe is a gated mountain community. Quiet and beautiful and impeccably maintained to respect the beauty of the unique setting of the area. There is a community center and facilities in the heart of Big Canoe, including three lakes, a community beach and rock slide, two large outdoor pools plus a fully equipped fitness center and an Olympic sized pool. Their is an additional charge for use of these facilities but as our guests these costs are relatively nominal. There is a large outdoor tennis facility and 27 holes of championship golf. These are also available and reasonably priced for homeowners of Big Canoe which we will gladly pass on to our guests. There are dozens of walking trails that traverse the 8000 acres that make up Big Canoe -- with over 30% permanently set aside as green space. There are several waterfalls all of which can easily be walked to on well marked wooded trails.

We stayed in this home for a long weekend in February with our two children and had such a wonderful time. Big Canoe is a beautiful setting and we can't wait to see it when all the trees and greenery are back in bloom! It was so quiet and relaxing and the kids really enjoyed finding each of the waterfalls that dot the area. All were within short hiking distance and one was very near the house.

The home is immaculate and tastefully but simply decorated. We weren't looking for anything fancy just a place that was near us, easy drive from Atlanta, and a place where we would get what we were promised and what we paid for. This home and the hospitality of the owner met all of these criteria perfectly.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: We love the fact that adults and children can have such a good time staying in our home in Big Canoe. In the Summer and Fall it is even more beautiful and wonderous! We enjoy greeting and meeting our guests and ensuring they have a highly satisfying stay.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us....the ride up was phenomenal...scenery spectacular...saw several deer that seem to welcome us to Big Canoe....your home had all the necessary items for us to feel right at home.....we had the TV downstairs and absolutely did not need it since we spent most of our time in front of the magnificent windows on the top floor....perfect place to read and just watch nature......our cousins who visited have had a tramatic year and this was the perfect place for them to reconnect with life.....hope to visit again real soon....so relaxed feels like I have had a month off.....

Great Family Retreat!

My family and I just spent a wonderful week at this lovely home in Big Canoe. We have used VRBO numberous times over the past few years - and this is one of the few times that the house actually EXCEEDED our expectations, and the reality was BETTER than the pictures!! With three kids ranging in age from a very active 6 year old boy to a pre-teen girl - this vacation had something for everyone - lots of hiking (several waterfalls within 15 min hike), exploring, hanging out by the pool, reading on the lovely tree-house-like deck, playing card games, doing puzzles - we all had a fabulous time. Big Canoe offered a plethora of activities, the house was beautiful and comfortable and the views were breath-taking. Make sure you carve out time to visit Amicalola Falls - stunning! The Mexican restaurant just across from the North Gate was excellent too (this coming from two Texans!)

I hope we can come again sometime SOON! Thank you, thank you for opening your lovely home to us!

Great family vacation for spring break

Our family and the family of our neighbors and friends spent a week in Big Canoe with our 3 children. We had a wonderful time, the weather was great and it was so relaxing. Plenty to do if you like the outdoors. We hiked many of the trails and tried to see all of the waterfalls which are easy hikes (our children are ages 7, 9, and 12). The house really immaculate and feels like new. Nicely furnished and tasteful and the photos are very representative. We plan to do this again. Thank you for letting us stay in your home.

Our wonderful stay at Big Canoe

A beautiful family home in the mountains. We had a wonderful and restful retreat in the clouds at Big Canoe. The house is beautifully deocrated a great venue for a romantic weekend , My husband and I are planning to go back,
(great view of the sunset ) he loved it took pictures eveyday and has not stopped talking to his friends about the place.
The children had a great time , they woke up on Thanksgiving morning to five deer wondering around the front yard at sun rise. The Owners made us feel welcome and very comfortable , we got lost getting to the house so had to call , they soon set us on the right path thank you again .
If you are looking for an escape from the crowds , with wonderful scenery and all the comforts of home this is a great spot.
