Vacation for a week

Overall the house was nice and made for a great place to vacation for the week. There were 5 in our party. We loved the fact that it was newly remodeled and so very clean. That was a bonus. However, a few things were wrong....we arrrived two hours past the checkin time to find the house hadn't been cleaned yet from previous renters. Called Sandy, and she came out to clean and said it was a error on Aimee's part. It took 2.5 hours until we were able to officially checkin. A discounted rate would have been appreciated but NONE was offered. Even $50.00 would have been nice since it was THEIR error and it was 4.5 hours(730 pm) past check in time(3pm) when we finally were able to. Front bedroom had white shears hanging on the windows that did nothing in blocking the bright street light or car lights on the street. Then the windows in kitchen, living room, and dining room had NO curtains or blinds on them. Completely open and anyone could see in at night when the lights were on. We didn't like that at all. Kitchen had sparse utensils--no lids for any pots, no tea kettle, no strainer, and the site information said, ironing board and iron, and there were neither. The lake itself was very mucky and smelly at times. Only able to catch goby, perch, catfish, sunfish. Neighbors were very nice and very accomadating for us to tie up our boat since our cottage had no where to. Overall, our vacation was great, with a few bumps along the way. Weather was fabulous for the week.
Owner's Response: There was an error on my part resulting in the cottage not being cleaned before the new arrivals checked in. However, the cottage was cleaned immediately after they brought it to our attention. The cottage now does have an iron and ironing board. As far as the window treatments go, the photos of the cottage show that the only rooms with curtians or blinds are the front bedroom and the bathroom. There is not a place to tie up a boat and our site does not say that we do. There is a boat launch a block from the cottage. As far as the fishing and lake conditions...unfortunately I have no control. Please take a moment to read the positive responses about our cottage.
