This beautiful, spacious home includes four bedrooms, two and one half bathrooms, and will comfortably accommodate eight guests. Originally built in 1914, we have chosen to respect its historical charm and character while updating it with modern amenities. The house fronts on a wide street and is set away from the neighbors on either side, providing privacy while allowing an open feeling. The large rooms and yard provide great versatility: our home is equally suitable for families with young children, families with older children, or for adults without children. In all cases guests will have as much togetherness or enjoy as much privacy as they want. HOUSE DESCRIPTION - The house, while furnished with nice pieces, is also child friendly – our four children were raised on the beautiful oriental carpets. Decorations include art, antiques and collections from India, Japan, Tibet, South East Asia, Colombia, Brazil and Mexico, many of which were collected on our travels. The living and sleeping areas are set off by hardwood floors, accented by oriental rugs.
The remodeled kitchen features an open layout with granite countertops, a counter eating area which seats four, and French doors which access the outside patio and swimming pool. The brick poolside patio has a glass countertop table which seats 6, and is alongside our large swimming pool with attached spa, which is enclosed behind a child-proof fence. A café table, two swivel arm chair/rockers and ottoman provide for a pleasant place to read or have a cup of coffee in or out of the sun.
LIVING AREAS AND BACK PATIO - The large living room has two large sofas, a rocker and a wing back chair, from which to watch our 52' Samsung flat screen HDTV with digital cable recorder, DVD player and VCR, or enjoy the fireplace. Two sets of French doors access a lovely sunroom which our grandchildren use as a playroom. A large toy cabinet along one wall is filled with toys, a comfortable carpet and a small table with four child-sized chairs provides a great play area, and a rattan sofa gives adults a comfortable place from which to watch. The house is wired for Wi-Fi broadband internet. French doors at the back of the living room open to a covered patio with a large Colonial-style wood table from Colombia, which seats ten. There is also an round outside table which seats four which is shaded by an umbrella.
UPSTAIRS - The upstairs is accessed by a wide staircase with oak steps. Each of the four large bedrooms is furnished in a unique and appealing style. The Master Bedroom is furnished with a beautiful dark oak Henredon campaign-style bedroom set with King Size bed. It has a 19” Sony TV with digital cable, DVD player and VCR. It opens through French doors to a large outside terrace with potted plants and Bistro table and chairs. The attached en-suite bathroom has been recently remodeled and features a granite countertop, bright red, white and black decor, and a large step in shower with overhead and wall-mounted shower heads.
The adjoining bedroom has a Queen sized bed, desk, and an easy chair with ottoman. It also opens onto the outside deck. There are two bedrooms across the hall, each of which face onto the swimming pool. The front (pink) bedroom contains a comfortable Ethan Allen swivel rocker with ottoman,and can be set up with either a king or two twin size beds. The rear bedroom, which we call Monkey room because of a lamp with a monkey figurine base and jungle bed covers has two twin beds.
Coronado is one of America's most desirable year-round communities with the beach on one side and San Diego Bay on the other. It has its own municipal golf course, ample public tennis facilities, resort hotels, boating, kayaking, bicycling, public pools and other recreational facilities. We are only minutes away from downtown San Diego, with its Gas Lamp district, PetCo baseball park, Convention Center and Seaport Village, all of which can be accessed by automobile or public transportation over the Coronado Bridge. The Coronado Ferry provides access to and from Downtown San Diego on an hourly basis with a free Bay Cruise included! We have easy access to the San Diego Zoo, Sea World and Balboa Park with its museums and other features. The Wild Animal Park is approximately 45 minutes away by automobile. Coronado is close to many of the San Diego area's great golf courses.
