I KNOW what you're thinking - that cottage doesn't look like much (to say the least) from the OUTSIDE. I have the same thought every time I walk by. Please take a close look at the pictures on the INSIDE - you will see the beautiful cedar logs and white stone fireplace that make this Cabin so special.

My mother and father built this Log Cabin in 1950 on the 'Quiet Side' of Door County near the the borderline of the Whitefish Dunes State Park. As you look out the windows you will see beautiful Lake Michigan along with white birch trees, an assortment of evergreen trees, the sand dunes. The beautiful Sand Beach begins at your door. The sand on the beach is so clean that it 'squeaks' when you walk on it. You will absolutely love our beach! Relax and build sand castles with your kids. The water is very clean and the drop off is very gradual - ideal for kids of any age.

Hello! My name is Fred - the owner and rental manager. Welcome to our 'Slice of Heaven'. The property has been in our family since Word War II. I will answer any questions you may have. I will also be your 'goto' person during your stay.

What we hoped for...and then some.

This vacation was exactly what we hoped for and more...We travelled with 3 teens, 2 adults and 2 dogs and each of us loved our stay in our own ways.

We loved the original log cabin setting and the beautiful view, along with the beach itself.

The location was perfect for our quiet family vacation and the other area we enjoyed visiting was Fish Creek.

The beach and water was very clean and Fred was so easy to work with and answered all my questions prior to our arrival.

Waking up to the sound of Lake Michigan, the views, a walk, run and just "being" for the week was wonderful. I enjoyed witnessing the spirit of the place spark my family, including my husband naturally get back into sketching effortlessly as he sat near the picture window.

This log cabin is situated on a private sand beach, as close to the water as you'd want to be. The water is shallow until you get pretty far out . . . perfect for wading and water games.
It seemed fairly private because of the high sand dunes between the cabin and the houses next door.
I would recommend this for a large family, as it has a lot of beds.
The beach views from the living, dining, and kitchen areas were stunning.
The Glidden Lodge restaurant is fairly close and has water views from every table.
We enjoyed every day of our stay. So lucky to have found it on the HomeAway site!
Recommended for:  Pet-friendly, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children
