GORGEOUS LOWCOUNTRY HOME ON DEEP WATER/ COVERED DOCK&FLOATER/ ICW

What an amazing find! My family and I stayed recently for my Son's graduation from boot camp on Parris Island. Some of our friends stayed in Beaufort and would come over to the house and visit over the course of several days. I can't tell you how many times I was asked, "How did you find this place?!"

It's georgeous. It was everything we had hoped and much more. We had a warm gathering of family and friends that was like home, but near enough to Parris Island that we could travel back and forth easily for events like family day. We loved having coffee on the dock, seeing the dolphins play near enough to reach out and touch, and walking to the nearby farm to see all the animals (even a Camel)!

You can drop the crab trap into the water and enjoy your own home grown low country boil. We stayed in February, but that didn't stop my children from enjoying the Kayaks during the day - and then building a fire in the pit at night as it got colder. We spent time gazing at the most amazing clear sky at night and seeing all the constellations that we can't see living so close to Atlanta.

We like to deal directly with owners/families. Rob and Claire were the perfect host and hostess and we can't wait to return. I'm so glad they've chosen to share their beautiful home. There is a reason that all the reviews are perfect - I can't imagine a more pleasant stay.

EVERYTHING about this rental was perfect! The house was clean & comfortably furnished. Our group of 5 adults and 2 children, 7 & 4, had plenty of space and privacy. Very nicely decorated. Just like home with family pictures and many personal touches. Our meals were all on the screened porch. Can't beat the view! The kids suite upstairs was fantastic. My granddaughter didn't want to leave the window nook and her books. Really a special touch!
Quiet, scenic, moss draped oaks with no traffic on a dead end road. The animal farm next door was a delight and a special outing for the grand kids with Grandma. He took time to show us every animal and explain about the exotic ones. They even let us bring some veggies to feed them.The nice grassy lawn is spacious with plenty of room for yard games. Fire pit a hit for s'mores and the quiet end to a perfect day. The dock, like the house, was well equipped. We spent most of our time out there. The covered area with chairs/ table plus a hammock was nice for shade. We caught blue claw crabs everyday in the trap. Several dolphins arrived daily to entertain us.
TIP - we brought our own 12' whaler. You can't find a boat to rent on St Helena or anywhere nearby. There is a nice launch area close to the house. The large floating dock was perfect for tying the boat up. Driving along the creeks & the river was absolutely beautiful. Hunting Island State Park and the light house is a must day trip. Gorgeous white sand beach. Fresh shrimp at the docks just down the road from the house. When you see the shrimp boat coming by in late afternoon head down there. Local vegetable/fruit stand was great. Nice variety. Good homemade jams and gumbo sauce. Lots of restaurants - small and casual. This house is equipped for cooking with a great kitchen.
Fishing, boating, kayaking, board games, poker table and a vast library of good books.

TIP- Be sure to get up early and have your coffee out on the dock. Watch the sun rise - just you and nature. A glass of wine in the evening isn't bad either. You can see the dolphins and the pelicans go skimming along the water looking for their dinner. Pure relaxation.

My family came here over Spring Break and we will certainly be back - I can't stop daydreaming about it! The home was beautifully equipped and decorated - we instantly felt at home and comfortable with plenty of room, nice places to read or do puzzles, gourmet kitchen, quiet neighbors, and beds made for a peaceful night's sleep.

This home has something for everybody - it's near enough to Beaufort, Savannah, and Charleston for those who want some fine dining and shopping - AND a complete nature lover's oasis for those who want to be active in the great outdoors observing the flora and fauna! We tried to do a little of each every day - relaxing, seeing the sites, kayaking to the sand bar at low tide, enjoying the delicious local cuisine, looking for shells and fossils, and chilling on the screened- in porch - watching dolphins while sipping hot coffee or a margarita (depending on the time of day). Our daughter delighted in finding hermit and stone crabs and conch while we sat on the dock watching the birds and tending the crab pots.

We loved discovering the local restaurants - The Shrimp Shack, Dockside, Gullah Grub, The Wren, and The Olde Pink House in Savannah. The fresh seafood at Gay Seafood Company across the road from the Shrimp Shack made home-cooking taste like gourmet and you can't beat giant shrimp for $5 a pound from the ladies on the corner - fresh off the boat with the heads still on...very impressive. We enjoyed crabs from the pots twice and black angus steaks from nearby Publix grilled on the top-of-the-line gas grill...perfect for a crowd looking to keep the food budget affordable or for the home cook who finally has time to craft a culinary masterpiece for the family!

We were treated one night to watch a huge thunderstorm roll in - creating a fantastic light show! And ended every day with either a fire in the fire pit or a movie from the impressive collection right there at the house. Don't miss a visit to Hunting Beach and the light house, truly a lovely day.

We have travelled often using VRBO, and have stayed in some very nice houses, but this is by far the most comfortable and one that I could truly call "home". In every other home we've visited using VRBO, I always brought extra things from home and was always glad to have them (towels, binoculars, kitchen equipment, etc) - the only thing you need to bring here is your swimsuit and toothbrush!
