CLOUDCROFT WOODLANDS VACATION CABIN

Cloudcroft House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

This house was built on one acre of forest land in the village of Cloudcroft in the Sacramento mountains. It is designed for comfort, relaxation, fun and class, all at mid-level prices.

One enters the house to a semi-open den-dining-kitchen area with open ceilings and wood beams, a wood burning fireplace, comfortable furniture, satellite HDTV, with both DVD and VCR, and books, games and puzzles for children and adults. Add to that the view of many pine, aspen and other native trees and plants through the glass portion of the doors onto the front covered deck.

The kitchen has all the customary appliances and cooking equipment, described in detail later. The dining table seats 8. Two of the bedrooms have queen beds and the other bedroom has two twins, all of which comfortably sleep 6 with the queen couch in the den sleeping an additional 2. The master bath area has a washer and dryer in a closet.

The owners say the most fun part of the house is the covered front deck, which faces due east, making an early sunrise with a cup of coffee or tea a must.

About The Owner

My wife and I live in Fredericksburg, Texas, which is northwest of San Antonio. It gets rather warm there in the summer months. So, we decided to build a house in Cloudcroft to enjoy the average summertime temperature in the 70's that Cloudcroft offers. We also enjoy the beautiful fall colors and the awesome winter snow. There are numerous day trips we also like, such as Ruidoso and Lincoln. The Village people are friendly and and genuine and we always enjoy our stays in Cloudcroft.

The Owner purchased this house in 2007

Why The Owner chose Cloudcroft

We chose Cloudcroft over places in Colorado because the drive from our home is so much shorter and we prefer the quieter and less hectic pace of Cloudcroft.

What makes this house unique

We like hiking, sitting of the front deck reading or just watching the humming birds or even having lunch out there. The melodramas put on by the Village are a hoot, with popcorn being thrown at the villain. On cold days or evenings, sitting by the fire and watching a movie or just reading a book or magazine is also a treat.

Cloudcroft High School Reunion

  • 5 of 5
This is a superb house that will feel like your home rather than a rental. It has a very comfortable and cozy feel with special touches throughout. The kitchen has everything needed to cook just about any meal you want. The towels and bed linens are all top quality. It was extremely clean and the entire property is well cared for. There were three of us couples in our sixties in town for a High School Reunion being hosted by a classmate with a second home nearby. Because we were raving about the house so much, those staying other places wanted a tour. Everyone was impressed with how well decorated it was and it's charm. The owners were very responsive to all our questions and provided us with all the information needed for a successful trip. We could not have improved on our accommodations and strongly recommend this place. A wide variety of people will find this to be a perfect getaway for a few days or for a couple of weeks---it is that comfortable.

Love this place. Extremely comfortable and well appointed, situated in the trees with a pleasing view of the Cloudcroft sky - day, and especially, night. The elevated deck is an amazing spot for morning coffee, catching up on a new novel, an afternoon nap, and watching the moon and bright stars rising in the east. Inside, the fireplace creates a very cozy environ on those chilly Cloudcroft nights. Kitchen has all you need with a large dining table adjoining. Comfortable bedrooms, nice bathrooms, plenty of closet and drawer space. Very nice owners, too. Fun to eat out in Cloudcroft - The Lodge for chef specialties and cherries jubilee, The Front Porch for any meal done right, etc. Fun to check out the views from the mountain and from the desert floor around Cloudcroft. All in all, a nice place to reenergize.

Great place. We all agree this was a nice stay. We were here during Christmas and there was snow just before we arrived. The roads in the village were plowed and the caretakers had the driveway plowed so we made it in fine. The cabin was well decorated and the furnishings are nice. Plenty of firewood and it is roomy. We rented both levels and had plenty of room for 8. The kitchen has very good appliances, and is very functional. Table was big enough for us all to sit and eat together.

A wonderful Thanksgiving

We were more than satisfied with our stay at the Woodlands Cabin. It was our first family trip since the arrival of our six-month-old grandchild. My husband and I shared the home with our grown daughter, son and daugter-in-law and granddaughter. It was SO RELAXING. We spent a lot of time in front of the fireplace (lots of firewood provided) and on the front deck. It was a beautiful setting. The kitchen was stocked with everything we could possibly need. Everything was just perfect and I have already recommended this place to friends. The highlight of our excursions was White Sands National Monument. Do not miss this! Also, we recommend that you take all of the groceries that you need (which we did), because the closest significant grocery store is in Alamogordo, about a 30 minute drive away. We would not have changed a thing!

Fall in the New Mexico Sacramento Mountains

  • 5 of 5
A beautiful place to spend the week.Everything was exactly as described. The cabin(really a very nice home away from home) was well appointed and clean. Fall colors were stunning with the shimmering golden aspen right outside our door. Encountered many deer around the area during our week-long stay.
The weather was perfect every day with beautiful blue skies, lots of sunshine and great fresh air at our altitude of about 9,000 ft. And, the drinking water was outstanding!
We found Cloudcroft to be a very friendly little community with nice shops(but short on groceries). Also, we enjoyed visiting "The Lodge", a grand old hotel with a great restaurant, plus a 9-hole golf course.
There are many interesting sights and things to do within a days driving distance around Cloudcroft. Believe we did most of them, including Ruidoso(Hubbard Museum of Western Art) ,Lincoln,NM(Billy the Kid ),Alomogardo(White Sands National Monument) and Sunspot(a 260' solar telescope).
If you want to spend some time in a peaceful, relaxing setting then give "The Cabin" a try. You wont be disappointed!!
