The Bunkalow, as the name suggests, is a bungalow cottage combined with a detached bunkhouse. The bungalow sleeps up to 5 and the bunkhouse sleeps an additional 6 persons. The bunkhouse and bungalow must be rented as one unit. The bunkhouse includes a 1/2 bathroom and the bungalow includes one full- (with shower) and one half-bathroom. We have also added a private deck shower that I personally use every time I shower at the property! (Check our reviews - everyone seems to love the deck shower)
The bungalow has a roomy and open floor plan with one full bath and one half bath, a wood-burning fireplace, and a HUGE deck on Hamlin Lake. The bunkhouse also includes a large screen TV and killer sound system. Launch your boat 5 minutes away at Wilson Hill Park (see VRBO map)and dock at the seawall right in front of our property. Boat over to the dunes and have a blast! Free high speed wireless internet, unlimited long-distance phone, and top 100 channels of Charter cable TV with DVRs on each TV. You will not be disappointed with this cottage/lake experience. Check the user reviews on VRBO. We have not had one bad review!

Our family loves Hamlin Lake!
Andrew Murray purchased this cottage in 2009
Nothing beats vacationing on the water.
Water, water, everywhere. What's really cool about Hamlin Lake is that it borders Lake Michigan and Ludington State Park, which means you can boat to the Park and walk to the sandy white beaches on Lake Michigan. Or, you can drive 10 minutes by car and be on the beach. Also, Hamlin Lake is divided into two distinct regions, Upper and Lower, which typically means that if the water is too rough from wind on one part of the lake, you can go to the other part of the lake and it will be much calmer.
If you are looking for a nice, quiet house on a beautiful lake, this is the place to stay. The amenities are great. Our favorite spot was the bonfire pit. The bunkhouse is very new and would be a perfect place for children. Can definitely fit a large group between the main house and bunkhouse. Hope to end up back there down the road!
My wife and I stayed 5 nights at the Bunkalow and couldn't have enjoyed it more. For starters the location is perfect with a view across the north part of the lake to the Nuremberg National Forest. Just looking out the window of the main house brings your BP down 5 points. The property has everything and is very well updated (the HD TVs and sound system are awesome). We were able to bike, kayak and explore the local area with ease. It was just the two of us this time but we plan to host a family reunion there.
We had a wonderful time and the place was great. All of our family enjoyed it and there was plenty of space. We also liked the location on Upper Hamlin. I'd recommend this place to anyone.
A beautiful setting right on the lake where our boats could be docked and ready to go. Perfect setting for grown-ups and grandchildren to play games indoors and out, fish off the dock and sit around the fire at night. Both the cottage and bunkhouse were well-stocked and plenty of room for private time when needed. Lake Michigan just a short drive away. Aside from leaving a camera behind with memories, we shared a wonderful week in a beautiful, restful place. Our grandchildren wanted to live there forever and cried when we had to leave. Thank you for sharing this place at a fair price.
We had a great time, the yellow jackets were kind of bad but that's just how it goes with nature.
If you are looking for the perfect summer getaway the Bunkalow combines a great location with very nice cottage style accommodations. There is so much to do in the Ludington area. We enjoyed fishing right off the break wall, campfires at night, and hikes up the dunes over to Lake Michigan. We enjoyed picking fresh blue berries just down the road. The whole family enjoyed staying at the bunkalow and we look forward to doing it again next year.
