THE BUNKALOW: HAMLIN LAKE FRONTAGE DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER!

Ludington Cottage Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Detached Unit, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 11)

The Bunkalow, as the name suggests, is a bungalow cottage combined with a detached bunkhouse. The bungalow sleeps up to 5 and the bunkhouse sleeps an additional 6 persons. The bunkhouse and bungalow must be rented as one unit. The bunkhouse includes a 1/2 bathroom and the bungalow includes one full- (with shower) and one half-bathroom. We have also added a private deck shower that I personally use every time I shower at the property! (Check our reviews - everyone seems to love the deck shower)

The bungalow has a roomy and open floor plan with one full bath and one half bath, a wood-burning fireplace, and a HUGE deck on Hamlin Lake. The bunkhouse also includes a large screen TV and killer sound system. Launch your boat 5 minutes away at Wilson Hill Park (see VRBO map)and dock at the seawall right in front of our property. Boat over to the dunes and have a blast! Free high speed wireless internet, unlimited long-distance phone, and top 100 channels of Charter cable TV with DVRs on each TV. You will not be disappointed with this cottage/lake experience. Check the user reviews on VRBO. We have not had one bad review!

Nearby attractions include:

- Ludington State Park (launch your boat from the cabin and beach on the east dunes of the Park within 5 minutes!)

Our family loves Hamlin Lake!

Andrew Murray purchased this cottage in 2009

Nothing beats vacationing on the water.

Water, water, everywhere. What's really cool about Hamlin Lake is that it borders Lake Michigan and Ludington State Park, which means you can boat to the Park and walk to the sandy white beaches on Lake Michigan. Or, you can drive 10 minutes by car and be on the beach. Also, Hamlin Lake is divided into two distinct regions, Upper and Lower, which typically means that if the water is too rough from wind on one part of the lake, you can go to the other part of the lake and it will be much calmer.

SUMMER TIME, WHEN THE LIVIN IS EASY

  • 4 of 5
If you are looking for the perfect summer getaway the Bunkalow combines a great location with very nice cottage style accommodations. There is so much to do in the Ludington area. We enjoyed fishing right off the break wall, campfires at night, and hikes up the dunes over to Lake Michigan. We enjoyed picking fresh blue berries just down the road. The whole family enjoyed staying at the bunkalow and we look forward to doing it again next year.

HAMLIN LAKE GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful stay at the Bunkalow! The house was exactly as pictured/described with lots of extras to make our stay very comfortable. We really enjoyed the huge backyard for lawn games, relaxing around the fire, and fishing from the seawall! The seawall itself was a nice depth for boating. I rented a little fishing boat from the Sauble Resort and found it very easy to maneuver in and out.
The bunkhouse was great! My family stayed in the main house and we had 2 friends staying in the bunkhouse which was an ideal accommodation for a 2 household stay. Downtown Ludington was a short 15 minute drive away when we wanted to give the grills the break.
I absolutely loved lake life living and I can't wait for next summer's trip!

GREAT STAY AT THE BUNKALOW!

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful stay at the Bunkalow this summer. The main house was well stocked and neat and clean. All of our nine guests staying at the Bunkalow were very comfortable. A big hit was the outdoor shower! We were able to secure a pontoon boat and a ski boat to the seawall which was very handy. The deck overlooking the lake was great too. The girls enjoyed tanning in the long chairs on the deck while the boys played around on the lake and fished. Overall it was a wonderful stay and we would recommend it to everyone!

FAMILY TRADITION!!

  • 5 of 5
We rented this cottage and bunkhouse for a family vacation for 4 adults and 5 grandchildren. Plenty of sleeping and dining room (inside and out). Yard is large with a beautiful view of upper Hamlin lake! Swans, ducks, geese, even bald eagles! Caught fish right off the sea wall! We brought our own boat and rented a pontoon boat from Country Haven and had plenty of dock for both boats. Great place for kids and adults!

GREAT PLACE FOR A FAMILY!

  • 4 of 5
We spent the third week of July there with our extended family. Very spacious and nice. It was HOT. We did need to go get some fans to keep the places cool at night
The yard was nice and confined so the little kids weren't wandering away. We sat in the water and the kids swam a little off the dock but the best swimming was taking the boat over to the dunes all day for fun in the sun and sand.
Wonderfully located on Hamlin Lake, we were very happy with everything there. There were also many useful items there we weren't expecting like all the different utensils and towels.
We did rent a boat from Barnharts.. not sure i would recommend that as the boat had ripped seats and all but it worked out being moored at the sea wall of the house and made it nice and easy to enjoy the lake.
Fires every night and a gentle breeze that came across made it relaxing at night.

Great Place!

Notes:
Just prior to Summer 2010, we completed our fabulous bunkhouse, which can sleep up to 6 additional persons that are part of the main party renting the main cottage (11 total on property). We also have a large grass yard between the cottage and lake, plus a great fire pit at the waters edge. The fishing is most excellent right from our lawn.
