FRIDAS VILLA & COTTAGES: A LITTLE BIT OF MEXICO ON SALT SPRING ISLAND

Salt Spring Island Villa Rental Photos and Description

Villa, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4 to 6)

Fridas Villa is a very special private 2 Bedroom Suite on beautiful Salt Spring Island celebrating the Life and Paintings of Mexican Painter Frida Kahlo. The suite is a unique experience, tastefully decorated and well stocked with everything you need to rest and relax in style. We also have two 1 bedroom cottages (with pull out couches) if the Villa is booked or there are only two of you, please inquire. Our calendar on VRBO only reflects Villa bookings. Unwind on the deck with your complimentary Lime Margaritas or under the stars in the private hot tub garden. Massage therapists for each of you can be hired in to pamper you further right in the suite. Beddis Road is the best road on the island to bike on and it is very scenic as it winds down to one of the best shell beaches on the island Beddis Beach, which is a 5-10 minute walk away. We are centrally located on the island with all ferries only 15 minutes away and the famous Saturday market in downtown Ganges only 10 minutes away by car or 45 minutes by bike. The suite has a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, living room with gas fireplace and entertainment centre, pillow top Queen bedroom and private four piece bath with soaker tub. There is a second Queen bedroom which has its own private entrance to the deck and to the bathroom. Perfect for two couples sharing or families. Fridas can sleep 4 people very comfortably and up to 6 people with permission. For couples it is a very private romantic location. Pets and children are also most welcome. We are all people friendly and will do our best to make your holiday a memorable one. You can also arrange to spend time with Tracy in the clay studio making a special bowl, platter, tile or sculpture to take home. Be an artist for a day on beautiful Salt Spring Island!

Guestbook comments from the owner
We stayed for 2 wonderfully peaceful weeks which really allowed us to unwind.

I have never stayed anywhere before, hotel or rented cottage, that made us

feel so welcomed and immediately at home. The lush gardens and sea views as

well as the fully equipped suite really made this a trip we will never

forget. Then there were the feline and canine companions who also welcomed us

as well as Tracy and Carl. Our art lesson was a joy and I am so proud of the

necklace and pot stand I made with Tracy's mellow guidance. We have made some new friends and have really awesome memories of the magical time we spent

here.

Well, we don't look like Frida and Diego but this picture is pretty close to Frida and her lover Leon Trotsky. Being artists ourselves, we wanted to celebrate the life and work of an artist in our suite. Frida Kahlo was a perfect choice and with her came the Mexican theme which also makes our suite really fun to stay in. Carl has done all the beautiful cabintry work in the suite and Tracy has made and hand painted all the tiles. We experienced the magic of Salt Spring several years ago and have felt it calling us back. It gives us great pleasure to share our wonderful island life with guests. Tracy offers family clay making sessions in her studio to give you all a chance to be an artist for a day. Couples really enjoy the opportunity to make something special for their home too. We want your time on island to be as relaxed and tranquil as possible so we can also arrange massage therapists to come to the suite and treat you to a spa experience with hot rocks and aromatherapy oils. Our dog Banjo and cat Floyd will also be here to greet you and your pets.

Tracy Harrison purchased this villa in 2005

We bought our little piece of paradise on Salt Spring Island because the island way of life called to us. It is very relaxing on Salt Spring. After a few days 'Island Time' settles in and the love and joy of our small community is reflected back in the smiles you will receive from local people. Nature abounds here with mountains, ocean and forest rhythms calling us to be outdoors.

Salt Spring is abundant with nature swaying, flying and buzzing by everywhere. Eagles, humming birds, ravens and wood peckers can all be seen and heard in our area. Deer stroll across the driveway and munch away on the grass in front of Fridas Villa. At night the frogs sing from the pond and owls hoot. The stars are bright in the sky as there is little light interference. On your way down to the beach we have a community orchard we all share full of Apple, Plum, and Pear Trees. Nearby there are golf courses, kayaking outfitters, artists studios to visit and many more activities to partake in. Salt Spring has an abundance of activities to do all year round so consider extending your stay.

Island Peace

  • 5 of 5
We were recently lucky enough to spend four nights at Frida's Villa on beautiful Salt Spring Island. Though we spent a lot of time visiting family and attending a wedding, we really appreciate the peace and beauty of Frida's Villa and the opportunity it provided for a quite moment or too. The hot tub was wonderful and beach combing on Beddis Beach was a highlight. The location was relatively close to Ganges and it's terrific Saturday Market. There was plenty of room for hubby and I and three young adults. The villa itself was lovely, bright and clean, the deck was welcoming and relaxing, and the kitchen was well appointed with the tools for those who enjoy making their own meals. And if you don't we highly recommend The Tree House (with live music nightly) and Rock Salt in Fulford Harbour. We were well taken care of with lots of breakfast supplies, delicious coffee (Salt Spring roasted?) and as I couldn't have the welcoming Marguerita, something appropriate was found for me. Thanks so much Tracy and Carl. We hope to have the opportunity to return some day and throw some pottery with you!

'No Carrot Sticks Allowed' - Friends honouring 50

'No Carrot Sticks Allowed' - Friends honouring 50

Fridas Villa was the perfect retreat spot for our group. From the moment we arrived Tracy and Carl were excellent hosts and had stocked the Villa with all the supplies you could want for a getaway. The Villa is spacious, clean, has a definite Mexico flavour and is located in a quiet area where the sounds and sights of nature can be enjoyed. In honouring 50 we had to accomplish 50 activities in 5 days, some of these included: making something - Tracy has a pottery studio and is an excellent instructor, we would highly recommend this activity that stirs the creativity within and gave us a memory to bring home; Kayaking to Chocolate Beach with Island Escapades was another accomplishment and very enjoyable; touring the artists studios was a fun way to explore the island; sunsets & sunrises, beach combing, swims in the ocean, walking in Ruckle Provincial Park, sampling local cuisine, wine tasting & fresh fruit and vegetables from the local market. Our time was filled and yet relaxing and I would highly recommend a trip to Salt Spring Island and particularly a stay at the wonderful Fridas Villa.

Owner's Response: Hi Jacquie Happy 50th to you all! What fun to challenge yourselves with 50 things to do in 5 days. We were very impressed with your accomplishments. The gorgeous clay vases you all made go in the kiln today! It was great fun for me, spending studio time with such creative women! Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience with others considering a stay at Fridas villa, cottage or casita! We really appreciate you taking the time to do this.

Calm and cozy casita!

  • 5 of 5
Frida's Casita offered comfy and cozy accommodations in a loft cabin which filled with sunlight during the day. Awoke to the sunrise out the kitchen/dining room patio and clear visibility of Mt Baker. Care was taken to provide all the necessities with quality breakfast fare. Would recommend to anyone wanting peace and tranquility with close proximity to a great beach.

The rooms are neat well layed out and most important to us clean as we I had my year and a half old grandson with us. The place is quiet, the owner operators kind and considerate and a wonderful facility to entertain visiting family who also brought young chidden.

LOVED IT!

  • 5 of 5
We loved Frida's Villa! What a great little spot! We were comfortable with our 2 daughters - ages 14 and 19. LOVED the owner's dogs! We brought our dog as well and they played together. These owners think of everything! They are so attentive to your needs and to detail. We would come back here in a moment to enjoy our time again on Salt Spring and at Frida's! Loved it!
