We've just finished the upgrade to our 203 kitchen, and we think you'll like the results. Complimenting the Kenmore 'Elite' appliances, is a an elegant new granite countertop in 'Tropic Brown', a lustrous backsplash in imported 2' x 4' glass-mosaic tiles, and a gorgeous Blanco double sink in stainless. We've moved to Grohe for the faucet, as theirs are the most reliable and aesthetically pleasing fixtures available. Under-cabinet lighting controlled by Lutron dimmable switches allows you to set the mood with soft lighting. And now, a 25 cu. ft. counter-depth Kenmore 'Elite' refrigerator in stainless, with door-based ice and water dispenser rounds out one of the most spectacular kitchens available at Hale Kai O'Kihei.
In finishing, furnishing, and maintaining our apartments 203 and 208 (www.vrbo.com/357582), we started from a simple premise: what do we like about where we stay when we’re on holiday? This is a licensed vacation rental, so book with confidence. As well, in renting this unit, you are renting directly from the owner, not an agent or third-party representative. The owner has an Internal Revenue Service Tax Identification Number and a Hawaii Tax Identification Number (W87097056-01) for the collection and remittance of State of Hawaii Transient Accommodation Tax (TAT) and State of Hawaii General Excise Tax (GET), and dutifully makes all remittances required by law while complying with, and reserving all protections under, the North American Free Trade Agreement and the United States — Canada Income Tax Convention.
We're like many of the guests we've met at Hale Kai O’Kihei over the years -- we've got demanding jobs, and put a lot of effort into our work. So there are times when we just want to get away from the stress for a few days, and get to a place where living is just easier, the demands less. That philosophy spilled over to our renovation and redecoration of our home in Hale Kai O’Kihei. We considered our 'perfect' Maui home with great care, then worked long hours in two visits over in the summer of 2008, and in many visits since, to make the plan real. Working with good trades, and creative suppliers, we've built the kind of unit we always wanted to stay in: top-end appliances, thoughtful colours and finishings, rich linens and deep thirsty towels, locally sourced vintage Hawaiian artwork, and all the details -- from snorkels, fins, and masks right down to tropical CDs -- that make coming to our place, and leaving it, the hardest things about visiting Hale Kai O’Kihei. When we visit our home at Hale Kai O’Kihei, we feel that we're settling in to the Hawaii we always dreamed of. We hope that's your experience, too!

We'd been visiting Hale Kai O’Kihei since 1997. We knew after our first visit that, simply, the place just worked. The perfect tonic to hectic life. It was the break we needed, the sound of the surf we'd longed for, and the sight of that wonderful, gorgeous blue Pacific that we'd dreamed of. Right from our own balcony, or lanai. And when that wasn't enough, a few steps across the lawn, through the palm trees to the beach, and that Hawaiian beachfront walk that helped put life into context, and tease out the solutions to whatever challenges there were. In 2008, it seemed like to the right time to buy -- the time to find if all the things we'd said needed to happen before we bought were just excuses, or in fact, conditions. Well, they were conditions! And with them met, we were ready to buy at Hale Kai O' Kihei. It's great that shopping and other services are only a short block or two away, but for us, that's not the real draw; it's the fact that once we get in the door, and put our groceries in the refrigerator, we're set for the rest of our stay. Sure, we go out to other beaches, and there are restaurants to revisit and new ones to explore, but through the many visits we've made since we purchased and remodeled, we've come to realize that our Maui home, decorated in the style it is, and set up the way it is, offers a remarkable Hawaiian experience, all day long -- from sunup to sunset -- and truth be told, beyond, as sitting on the edge of the beach with a glass of wine, long after the sun has disappeared behind Lanai, is a star-gazer's paradise, too.
We love walking the beach first thing in the morning, before the sun peeks out over the edge of Haleakala, when ours are the first footprints in the sand.
We love the way that in the mid-morning, the water just off the shore is dead calm, and is as many shades of blue, blue-green, and turquoise you can count.
We love watching the horizon out past the shallows, where the water turns a deep, alluring blue, when the breaching Humpbacks send plumes of bright white spray into the air.
We love midday when beach walkers and sun bathers take a break from the waves and the sun, seeking shade and sustenance, and a quiet falls over Hale Kai O’Kihei.
We love the mid-afternoon awakening when the wind picks up, the waves are more playful, drawing windsurfers and kite surfers to the shore and the challenges beyond.
We love the late afternoon, when the sun accelerates its race for the far side of Lanai and the lawn is a velvety canvas of yellows and greens, set against the dark slope of West Maui to the north, and a still-clear sky speaks to the promise of stars and far-away dreams to follow.
We love when the sun finally winks out behind Lanai, and those who have assembled on the lawn and beach to watch its farewell hug, kiss, or squeeze hands, in that knowing gesture which acknowledges that this one moment, this one sunset, experienced together, was what called them to Maui, and which they will use, in the years ahead, as the touchstone to remember their trip here, and why it was so special.
And then we love when darkness falls, and the two of us head down to the beach, lie back in the sand, and take in the enormity of the clarity and depth of the wondrous night sky.
Aloha, Adam, if anyone is looking for a condo unit to stay in on Maui they should take a long hard look at this one. It is without a doubt the nicest unit my wife and I have ever stayed in. ( to date we've stayed in at the very least twenty ) Everything and I mean EVERYTHING is top of the line. Adam and Michelle have equipped it top notch everything. This is our second stay in Adam's unit it's so convenient to every thing we didn't bother with a vehicle for the first few days. Adam has hired the best maintenance crew on the island. They keep everything neat and tidy and clean. Mahalo, Adam.

Memories of our road trip to Hana blocked by a very large tree stump and a bolder yes a bolder not a rock and sunset at Haleakala will not soon be forgotten!!
Returning to this beautiful beachfront property after our adventures was so relaxing listening to the waves hit shore wiggling our toes in the soft sand and watching the palm trees sway.

We knew in advance that this was probably going to be a special family trip for us to Maui. We have been to Hawaii each of the past 5 winters, but this one was the most memorable. It was the first time that Janice and I brought our young adult sons with us, and in talking to the owner Adam prior to the trip I knew that Kihei would be a hit for everyone - with the variety of opportunities and activities so nearby.
Adam and Michelle had paid such excellent attention to making our holiday a success PRIOR to our departure, we were very confident that everything would be in order. Although even they surprised us with their thoughtful consideration and attention to detail. A wonderful welcome surprise awaited us the first night - which got us started on the right foot for sure! The condo is wonderfully appointed and very well cared for. Absolutely everything was in order - Adam even ordered new snorkel gear to accommodate our sons Alex and Ryan.
Waking up the first morning and seeing the reaction on the boy’s faces with the beach RIGHT there and a wonderful first breakfast on the lanai continued to set the tone of relaxation and fun.
While we did many things together (snorkeling, family surf lessons, hiking, golf for Alex and Ken, and beach days) there was also plenty of alone time - Alex "chilling" at the condo one day and Janice finding a great yoga studio - Kihei really had it all for us.
But, by far, the highlight of every day was sitting together enjoying dinner on the lanai as the sun set and then someone taking the initiative to propose a thoughtful toast as a reflection of the day. It was a great way of recapping the day and planning for the next day's adventures.
Thanks to Adam and Michelle for providing this great spot for our family to reconnect. We will be back!
As always, a fantastic way to enjoy Maui. Thanks for making it possible to enjoy a short stay. We were reminded how much your place allows to enjoy all the island offers, so we looked to book again for next spring, only to find you're already completely booked. We're learning now to book a long way ahead if we want the best condo unit, and the best value, in all of Kihei. Can't say enough about the kitchen remodel, too. Superb. A professional chef would be right at home. We've seen it all, and we will always choose your wonderful unit.
They say you can’t go home again but we have. We are back staying in this apartment – the place we stayed when we came five years ago – and it does feel like home, just with a way better view!
The upgrades to the kitchen are beautiful and the place looks the same (in a good way). I could go on and on about all the great dishes, towels, bedding but really I just keep looking out the window.
Often the flights we get to Hawaii arrive after dark and when you get to the apartment you know you are close to the water because you can hear the waves but the best part is the first morning when you wake up and the ocean and the beautiful view is right there. Yes, the free long distance, the fast WiFi, the snorkel gear, the beach chairs etc. are great, but really it is the location.
We are a moment from the beach, a very short walk to get supplies, a resident of a quiet street in sunny Kihei but then just a quick drive up Lipoa Street and you are on your way to Wailea, UpCountry or West Maui. To top it all off the service is great and the owner is always available but not intrusive.

Thank you both for inviting us to your home away from home in Maui. The location could not have been better to all the beaches and other island vistas. Your unit has been tastefully updated with all the amenities necessary for a worry free holiday. Although you have posted pictures taken from the lanai they do not do justice to the natural beauty of the beach and ocean views. During our evening bbqing we meet up with a number of owners and vacationers who have a long term relationship with the property. Some with over 30 years of history. Although your ownership time is fairly recent all the owners are very much aware of the time and expense you have put into your units and I trust it will encourage others to upgrade. That being said the exterior of the building and common areas are extremely well maintained. While we were there contractors were installing slate on all the walkways a very nice enhancement to the look of the property.
While it was our first time to Maui (which I can't really explain why) we will be back next year for a visit and absolutely will use you property. Although I know you thrive on detail the welcome gifts were very much appreciated and clearly set a high standard for all other property owners who are attempting to build a solid base of loyal and appreciative clients.
