Wilderness 25 is unique because of our Crystal River frontage AND private Lake Michigan beach. Unlike most accommodations within The Homestead Resort, Wilderness 25 has direct shoreline on the river (right at the end of our deck.) For Lake Michigan access, the Wilderness Association actually owns a private beach on Lake Michigan ( accessible via a four minute walk through the woods.)
Wilderness 25 features a custom, third level loft. Our place is equipped for Internet access and quiet. It does not have other units above or below, so irritating footsteps aren’t an issue. Wilderness 25 even shares a private, scenic entrance. This provides a feeling of seclusion, extending from the sounds of nature, to being able to park in front of the unit. Among all other parts of The Homestead, the Wilderness area has worked to preserve the natural beauty of the area. You're likely to see more woodpeckers than wood chips; deer, fox, raccoons are nearby neighbors.
Questions and Answers
(In Case You’re Interested)
Q. Level with me. How many people is Wilderness 25 ideally suited for?
Four people are a wonderful fit for Wilderness, with two private bedrooms and two baths. The office loft is a cool place to do a little work or surf the Internet. Since there are stairs to the second bedroom and bath, you may want to take that into consideration.
Q. How far from Glen Arbor is Wilderness 25? I know where, say, the Registration Office is at The Homestead.
Wilderness 25 is actually quite a bit closer to town. It’s a little less than a mile, very walkable or bikeable, and is near the bridge and Old Mill just east of Glen Arbor.
Q. What about smoking at Wilderness 25?
Sorry, cigarettes and the like can’t be permitted anywhere in the unit, nor on its porches. Perhaps some smoked turkey or salmon would be a suitable substitute.
Q. Are pets permitted??
Unfortunately, air-breathing pets are not permitted under any circumstance.
Q. Your rates are lower than other Glen Arbor places we’ve checked. Is there something wrong with you or something wrong with Wilderness 25?
Actually neither, but your question is logical so we should explain. Wilderness 25 is a wonderful place-- it’s why we bought it-- and we’ve continuously worked to make it even better. Because we spend so much time in Glen Arbor ourselves, we’ve strategized how to make Wilderness as functional and enjoyable as possible-- and we think you’ll conclude we’ve succeeded.
But there are several reason for our lower rates. We are truly concerned about the rental arrangement being good for both you and for us. We’d rather receive less money from people for whom Wilderness 25 is a great match than more money from people just looking for a “bunk house.” We want people who will treat our place respectfully and who’ll have a great time in the process. That’s why we try to be specific about who Wilderness 25 will suit well, and those who may be better off elsewhere.
Q. Our dream would be to sit on the beach of Lake Michigan, watch the sunset, and then roast marshmallows over a campfire. Is that possible?
Good news! Because Wilderness Association has its own private beach, you can just reserve a fire pit (we’ll give you the number to call) and roast away. Firewood will even be available for you at no cost.
Q. I know the Beach Club at The Homestead is not available to the public. But is there anything nearby for children??
Yes, besides the beach and the river (where wading and fish watching is great fun), there is a playground and nature trail less than 200 yards away.
