DESIGNER HOME IN RURAL SETTING WALKING DISTANCE TO NEVADA CITY

Nevada City House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4). Barn available to rent for weddings

Our 2 bedroom guest house, with a rural feel, yet only a lovely stroll of less than 3/4 of a mile to the heart of downtown Nevada City, is not just a 'vacation rental'. It is a meticulously maintained 1,100 sf home -- Totally separate, private, sophisticated, quiet, one-of-a-kind, architecturally designed, light filled retreat down a long and private driveway. Honeycomb Ranch is a non-smoking property located in a 'neighborhood' of 4 ranchettes, each 5 acres apart. Our guests consistently tell us they are delighted to discover our unique, peaceful and comfortable guest house. It is the perfect retreat/get-away for a couple or a couple of friends or a small family. The master bedroom is very large with a pillowtop kingsize mattress and a sliding glass door opening onto a deck with meadow and forest views. The furniture in the living room is extremely comfortable, the kitchen is fully equipped and the views from every window are beautiful. Just bring your suitcase. Everything else is provided to make your stay relaxing and fun.

Wake up to the sound of birds and end the night on the deck gazing at millions of stars. It is easy to unwind in this special home with its zen-like feel situated on 5 pastoral acres of open meadows, pine, oak and fruit trees, organic gardens and a picturesque old barn. Wonderful, easy country walks from your door abound and hiking is minutes away. Tucked away in a hidden place with such a rural feel, you will be amazed to find what a very short and easy walk it is past beautiful Victorians to the bustling, historic, charming Gold Country downtown of Nevada City. In combination with 'Twin City' Grass Valley, 3 miles away, there is more than an abundance of great restaurants, world class live entertainment, shops, galleries and museums to keep you busy.

If you are parents or grandparents with family living here, it is the perfect spot. If you live in San Francisco and want to make a quick getaway out of the fog, it is just a 2 1/2 hour drive. Reno is only an hour and 15 minutes away and Sacramento is just an hour. Easy drives to come to a 'world away'! Now is the right time to make your reservations for summer to swim in the Yuba, hike, stroll to Farmers Markets, attend music festivals and just enjoy. Weddings abound in our area from Spring through the Fall so if you are part of the wedding party or a guest coming from out of town, make your reservations now. Staying in our guest house instead of a hotel will make the event that much more memorable.

The Yuba River and Nevada CIty's Scotts Flat Lake are each only 10 minutes away and the North Shore of Lake Tahoe is an hour. Come now and you might be lucky to get a light dusting of snow, Spring is almost here and the daffodils and quince are already blooming and the frogs are singing. In the early Summer, the spectacular Yuba River is a beautiful place to hike, or settle in on a huge boulder and watch the water go by. In July through early September when the water warms up, there is no better place to be but the Yuba and Scotts Flat Lake, which is also 10 minutes away and is great for kayaking, sailing, swimming and picnicking. Nevada County is famous for its Fall colors and you don't even have to leave our property to see a gorgeous display of brilliant colors. Reserve some time now to stay at Honeycomb Ranch in the Spring, Summer or Fall before it gets all booked up.

BTW, Winter is gorgeous also and full of old fashioned street fairs

and close to ski-ing.

If you like outdoor activities, relaxing, eating gourmet food, theater, musical events including classical music festivals that rival San Francisco and shopping in boutiques, and/or sitting quietly reading a book or meditating while watching birds soaring overhead, you will enjoy staying at Honeycomb Ranch while taking in all that Nevada County has to offer.

About Nina Snegg

Mike, my husband, and I have lived in Nevada City for over 33 years and have raised four children here. We have lived at Honeycomb Ranch for over 22 years. We both love Nevada County and have taken advantage of all the wonderful things that there are to do here including sailing and kayaking on Scotts Flat Lake, cross country skiing, biking, hiking, and attending many of the cultural events on an on-going basis. Having lived here for so long, I can send you in the right direction for anything you would be interested in doing. Both originally from Southern California, we would never want to live anywhere else but here. We travel often but always look forward to coming home. We are pictured here with our dog, Barley, who has become our official VRBO greeter.

Nina Snegg purchased this house in 2002

Why Nina Snegg chose Nevada City

We chose to build a guest house on our property in a totally private spot so our friends and grown family members would have a wonderful place to stay when they came to visit. With our children now all living in other parts of the country, we felt the time was right to make our guest home available to people who are interested in coming to our area.

What makes this house unique

The best part of staying on Honeycomb Ranch is the tranquil feeling, the beauty and rural quality of being here and the closeness to town. Our guest house is a very special place, carefully designed to put your soul at ease. It is very quiet and peaceful and the vistas are beautiful. For us, it serves as a retreat and anyone who comes here and stays in our guest house feels the same way.

Great little cottage for a serene country stay

  • 5 of 5
We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is comfortable, clean and well appointed. The best part though is the country quiet setting and close proximity to town. We can't wait to come back.

Mother's Day Celebration

Mother's Day Celebration
  • 5 of 5
Three generations (girl's only) got together and stayed at this peaceful guest house for two nights. The house was immaculate and the owners paid attention to detail. From numerous books to read, to kitchen gadgets and appliances you rarely find in a vacation rental, to interesting artwork and beautiful linens; we found everything and more that we needed. The home has a deck that spans from the kitchen to the Master Bedroom; both rooms have sliding glass doors opening onto the deck. The lush green trees, grass and relaxing atmosphere encourages you to slow down and enjoy nature at it's best. The drive from the house to Nevada City takes just a few minutes. We visited the Empire Mine, which we thoroughly enjoyed and ate lunch at Maria's in Grass Valley (exceptional food, service and margaritas)! We also strolled through downtown Grass Valley and returned to Nevada City to check out the stores on Broad St. Sampled a little wine at Szabo Vineyards tasting room on Broad Street. The tasting room is unpretentious and friendly; wines are very good. If you decide to vacation at the Honeycomb Ranch's guest house; beware - the song birds will burst into song right around sunrise! What a way to start the day!

Wonderful country retreat

  • 5 of 5
My wife and three-year old son loved our stay in Nina's Nevada City charmer. The setting is rural but very close to Nevada City. The house was bigger than our current home and has all of the amenities we needed. Our son particularly enjoyed himself as there were kids toys available to tramp around with.

We highly recommend this property and will more than likely stay here next time we visit Nevada City.

Beautiful Modern Rental Set Against Breathtaking Backdrop

  • 5 of 5
We have stayed at Honeycomb Ranch 4-5 times now, and each visit is predictably perfect. The 2-bedroom, spacious rental is impeccably clean, bright, cheery, well-maintained and tastefully decorated. It is on a beautiful meadow property that is tucked away off the beaten path and has sweeping views of the wilderness in Gold Country. The owners are always accessible and helpful, and we love the quick access to the quaint downtown of Nevada City - there are so many good eateries and cute shops to peruse (Pine Street Cafe has fantastic food and Mountain Pastimes is a must-visit toy store). Staying at this property is the highlight of our annual visit to Nevada City - and as very picky, "clean freak" VRBO renters we highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a super clean, beautifully designed home-away-from-home to serve as a base station while you explore and soak up all that the Sierra Nevada region has to offer.
