Needs attention

The location is great and close to Okemo mtn. Unfortunately, the house was not ready for us or for renting in general in my opinion. There were mouse droppings all over the house, furniture, in kitchen appliances, and in the beds. Also, a bonus dead mouse in the kitchen.The floors were not vacuumed, bathrooms marginal, and there were crumbs on the counter.The stove and oven were dirty. We ended up cleaning/disinfecting the house(after going out to store and purchasing supplies) and beddings ourselves and sticking it out since we had already purchased our ski tickets. The owner was very apologetic and did give us a free extra night for our troubles but it was difficult to sleep the first few nights and not something we would do again. The twin bed mattresses in one bedroom are in poor condition and need to be replaced. The lighting throughout the house is poor and the house is generally pretty dark inside in the evening.
Owner's Response: Dear Prospective Renters;
Living in Maryland and renting a home in Vermont can be a challenge at times. The home in this instance had been unoccupied for months. To add to the problem my cleaning girls were not at the top of their game and neglected to deep clean.
My dad built our home on Lake Rescue 35 years ago. This spot has been heaven on earth to my family and friend. We want it to be that way for those we rent out to. I am committed to renting out our home and to make it a wonderful stay for all those who rent. I have new cleaning people who I hope will take my home's best interest to heart.
Sincerely,
Nancy O'Brien
