About Debbie Perron

I have fond memories growing up in Maine where we had a cottage on a lake. We had a lot of family holidays at that cottage. And then my family moved to Florida. My girlfriend's family had a cabin in Highlands, NC, so when my husband and I needed a vacation, that's where we rented, and after that we were both hooked on North Carolina. After going a few more times, we started looking for our own cabin. My husband was in the construction business and can fix just about anything. I went to Florida State University and majored in Housing & Interior Design, so we make a good team when it comes to providing a well-maintained and decorated cabin. Our first property located in Whittier, NC that we purchased was not completed by the original owners so we took on finishing it while we were working full-time in Florida. It took a couple of years with help from a lot of friends that wanted a working vacation. We call it 'Farmhouse'. We did rent it as a vacation rental but now we have decided to sell because it's too far to maintain from Robbinsville.

Debbie Perron purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Debbie Perron chose Robbinsville

We bought our second cabin that was originally called 'The Chalet' from an auction ad that my husband saw in our local newspaper. After purchasing it, we have vacationed there for over 18 years to get out of the Florida heat. We loved the beautiful weather and mountain views so much that when the Mountain Retreat became available we decided to purchase it for additional family gatherings. And then a few years later, the Ridge Haven became available. Everybody we knew or worked with wanted to rent the cabins, so that's how we got started. We love this County with it's country roads and laid back feeling. It is so peaceful and quiet here. Maybe an owl at night and sighting of hummingbirds during the day. It's a great place to visit.

What makes this cabin unique

We love taking a walk aroung Arthur's Circle and up the hiking trail with our pets. Sometimes we're lucky to find blackberries and no bears. The weather is just like being in air-conditioning in the summer and it's so brisk in the Spring and Fall. The foliage is beautiful any time of the year, even after the leaves have fallen. And the locals are so friendly, always waving as they pass by. There are so many nearby outdoor activities, weekly social benefits, arts and craft events, mountain music & heritage festivals and three pristine lakes (Fontana, Santeetlah & Cheoah) for all types of water adventures and fishing. There is lots of fun in the area and the cabin is a great place to come back to.

THIS IS THE PLACE TO RELAX...

  • 5 of 5

OMG - you name it, this place has it. All the comforts of home, & more. Serenity at its' best. The calm, beauty & peaceful woodlands were so stress-free. If you feel the need to be active and outdoors exercising, there is an abundance of that all around too. I left all city life back in Fla. and came here to unwind. I accomplished that, if even for just a small time frame of 7 days. The cabin is clean, homey & comfortable. Roy & Deb make this the place to remember & return to as soon as we can. Appreciate the pleasure.

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This cabin exceeded our expectations. We were truly able to get away from all the hustle bustle of our lives and relax in a serene, secluded retreat. Our dog especially loved running up and down the road/hills/mountains - I think she hated to get back to her flat lands. Everything was provided to make you feel at home was provided (every kitchen appliance and even a washer/dryer - satellite TV) ...as well as wood for the fireplace, a gas grill, etc. We were even able to enjoy the humming birds and the beginning of the fall colors. Roy was there shortly after we pulled in and even called on a cool night to make sure we were warm enough. Everything has been thought of to make this a special get away. I would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to get away and have all the comforts of home. You are centrally located so it's an easy drive to several beautiful areas.

Wonderful welcoming retreat

  • 5 of 5

What an exceptionally welcoming and comfortable home--so scrupulously clean and carefully furnished. Kitchen is fully provisioned. The master bed was very comfortable. Every need has been anticipated including DVD's for quiet nights--our favorite was "Mountain Talk." Debbie has filled walls, floors and unexpected niches with bears, elk, and other woodland motif.

We rented for a week but could not bear to leave so stayed several extra days.

Although set away in a woodsy valley, it is central to many activities and Great Smoky Mountain area adventures. You'll enjoy lovely mountain scenery around every curve; many hikes and lakes surround. Do not miss Chereohala Skyway and Blue Ridge Parkway. We especially enjoyed the boat tour of Lake Fontana. (We advise that you do NOT visit Cade's Cove on Saturday or Sunday.)

Have a great vacation!

Great place to get some quiet time

  • 5 of 5

This place was just what our family needed. It's out of the way, yet close enough to Robbinsville to make getting groceries fairly easy. Everyone (even our two Boston Terriers) enjoyed the natural beauty along the little "hiking trail" and our daughter caught her first trout from Yellow Creek. The only negative was when we first arrived and Arthur's Circle had just been scraped, so the gravel was loose. Our loaded-down minivan had some trouble getting up the hill. After the gravel was packed down, however, that was no longer a problem. The owners said that they plan to put concrete on the circle in the near future. That will certainly make driving (and walking) on the circle much easier. The house itself was in great shape and well-stocked. The wi-fi and cell phone booster were really appreciated and allowed us to stay in touch with the folks back home. If you want to get away from it all, this is a great place to visit.

Dear Debbie and Ray!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much for making this beautiful place available to people, we enjoyed the peace and quietness of the place as well as the beauty of those tall Trees what a great site!

We had a Family Reunion at Fontana Village but we wonted to stay longer someplace with less activity where we could travel the surrounding area and sense my Husband was born in NC, it was great to look around some of the old places brought a lot of good Memories back!

Did not have the pleasure to meat Debbie but Ray her Husband was very nice and willing to help with questions we had we also enjoyed visiting with him very much!

Thank you again and looking forward of staying there again in the future!
