The Samuel Bates House (c. 1811) is a mixed use property located in the Village center in Cohasset, Massachusetts, an affluent coastal community 25 miles south of Boston. The building consists of units on the second and third floors and commercial space on the first floor. It was recently renovated and has a combination of the charm of yesteryear and all the modern amenities including granite countertops, central air conditioning, and a full size washer and dryer. Our vacation rental is the ideal base of operations for your Wedding, local event, or spectacular summer vacation. Cohasset Village is home to a picturesque town common, top ranked restaurants, and unique boutiques. Cohasset harbor, a working harbor with a fleet of more than 30 lobster boats as well as marina and docking facilities.

This rental is located in the heart of Cohasset village. We are a short walk from the town common, the harbor with its fleet of lobster boats and pleasure craft, and a less than a two mile drive from Sandy Beach the community beach. This location is ideal for people visiting from out of towns or involved with a wedding, as we are a short walk from all five churches and most popular reception sites (including Atlantica, the Lightkeeper's House, and the Red Lion Inn.

  • There are two full bathrooms, one on the second floor off of the living/dining area and a second one upstairs between the two bedrooms. The upstairs bathroom also contains a full size washer/dryer.

Notes: The unit was recently renovated and features a fully equipped kitchen and all of the linens, towels, beach towels, etc are provided. We have tried to anticipate all of our guests needs but if you have a specific request please do not hesitate to ask. The location is fantastic - walking distances to several top restaurants as well as a great french pastry shop for breakfast/coffee, a convenience store with all the essentials, a great wine shop/liquor store as well as several local boutiques carrying clothes, gifts, and other items. There is plenty to do in Cohasset and we can help arrange boating/fishing excursions and other local activities. The South Shore Music Circus is about a 15 minute walk ( 5 minute drive) away and has a variety of musical and comedy acts at night and children's programming weekly. The beach is a short drive away as is the commuter rail which puts you in downtown Boston in 45 minutes.

Charming & convenient, w/ all the luxuries of home

After spending a week at the Samuel Bates House for a wedding, Cohasset has become our favorite destination on the East Coast.

The House is right across from the town Common, historic community churches, museums, and bakeries, making travel with our 3 young children so much easier. We were able to walk all over downtown Cohasset, and the owners provide the apartment with a free parking pass in case we wanted to drive to the beach, which is right down the road. Our children also loved that the House was equipped with beach chairs, beach towels and baskets, and beach toys; we loved that we didn't have to pack all those extras. A variety of books, board games, and DVDs are also provided, so it gave us time to relax while the kids played. We recommend ordering in from the amazing restaurant (Bia's) just below the apartment for a delicious dinner. Even though we were there on a weekend, we did not hear noise from the restaurant, yet we appreciated its convenience.

Cohasset is a great destination for anyone who appreciates a charming coastal retreat, yet is very convenient to the Boston area by train or car. The Samuel Bates House was a true find -- beautifully decorated with all the amenities of home.

Next time we visit the East Coast, we'll be sure to return.

Perfect weekend in Cohasset

My wife, our 10 month old son, and I recently had the pleasure of staying in this beautifully renovated and well appointed condo in downtown Cohasset. The furnishings and decorating brings out the New England seacoast charm, while also offering all of the comforts needed for an ideal stay.

It's location is ideal; situated in the heart of downtown Cohasset. Cohasset itself is a gorgeous destination that has something to offer for everyone.

We would highly recommend this location to anyone looking for the perfect place to stay along the coast of the south shore. It’s both family friendly, as well as romantic and charming. We’ll be looking forward to our next stay at the Samuel Bates House.
