This historical property has been only owned by three families. Originally built for Captain Caleb Cook in 1850, this Gothic Revival home is located with an unobtructed view of Provincetown Harbor from Wellfleet to Long Point Lighthouse. The downstairs 10' ceilings give the rooms a spacious feeling and the views only get better as you go to the second floor. In 1900, E. Ambrose Webster purchased the home from Captain Cook. Webster was one of the most important modernist painters of the 20th century and was one of the few American painters included in the historic 1915 Armory Show with Marcel Duchamp among others. Webster is the subject of a 224 page book to accompany his groundbreaking show at the Greenville Museum which opened last year to rave reviews. Many of the paintings illustrated in the book entitled Chasing the Sun were painted from the house and artists continue to paint in front of the house. Eight foot windows with a southern exposure onto Provincetown harbor has views.

This house has the best of both worlds of Provincetown. You can just come to the town enjoy the house the beaches and not even have to deal with the crowds of Provincetown. Maybe a little crowd at the Stop and Shop on the weekends. Or, you can just have the great house with the great views and still walk 10 minutes to all the fun. We both enjoy both sides of this house where you can have both quiet time and all the entertainment that Provincetown has to offer. The house is located between two significant and quiet places to stay, Aerie House and Snug Cottage. Having two B&B's next door allows the evenings to be much quieter without having any commercial businesses near for the evening crowds. All that commercialism is left a block down the hill to Commercial street. That's is what makes this place the best of both worlds of Provincetown.

Notes: 12 x 17 foot master bedroom with a view of the harbor from Long point to Wellfleet. A 40' HDTV in master bedroom with queen bed. Queen bed in second bedroom and full sized bed in third room. The house is 1300 sq. ft. with all south facing widows looking out to Provincetown harbor. On the Miller Hill, the highest hill of Provincetown the sea breeze is plentiful. There is a hedged front yard that can entertain with a patio set and grill. The vacation house can be used as a retreat away from everything or can be the center of entertainment. It is in a location where the renter can stay in and enjoy the 160 year old house and all its charm or can walk 10-15 minutes to all the bars and restaurants of Provincetown.
