You are welcome to bring your dog. Portuguese Beach, as well as many others in the area allow dogs on the beach as long as they are on a leash. There is also a beach at Monte Rio, on the Russian River, which is close by, where you are allowed to let your dog run free.
There are many things to do while you are in Bodega Bay. Hiking, golfing, walking on the beach, beach combing, kite flying, biking, horseback riding on the beach, fishing, kayaking, excellent dining, wine tasting, surfing and best of all, whale watching.
You can also just read a book and relax in the private yard and listen to the ocean.
In addition to all of this, there are many annual events in and around Bodega Bay that are always enjoyable. The annual Fisherman's Festival, usually in April, is complete with a parade on the bay of beautifully decorated boats, a crafts fair, wine tasting and all kinds of delicious food.
There is also the annual clam chowder fest, crab feeds, stew and polenta dinners, an art festival and many other events.
