Lovely cabin with breathtaking views!
We stayed at the Fox Ridge cabin for a week this past month and it was all we hoped it would be and more! We were visiting with friends who have a mountain home in Sparta and wanted the privacy of our own place. Fox Ridge is a beautifully appointed cabin with breathtaking views. It is clean and comfy and has all the modern amenities, with a fully modern kitchen with a center island with granite countertops and stainless appliances. The rooms are ample sized and the layout of the home makes for enjoyable living and entertaining. I worried a bit that it might be larger than we needed, since only two of us were staying, but it was by no means overwhelming in size, although it could easily and comfortably accommodate several more guests. It has an open concept living space on the main level with a kitchen, dining room and living/family room. In addition, there is a good sized bedroom with a private bath with full laundry facilities. On the second level there is a sitting area, another bedroom and a second full bath. Like the bath on the first floor, there is a large, slate shower. There are two decks on the second level, one off of the bedroom and the other off of the sitting area. On the main level, there is a wrap around deck/porch, all with incredible views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and countryside. The location is good, just a short drive to town, as well as to the New River, and many other places to go hiking, shopping, tubing/canoeing/kayaking. We did a little research before we left and were able to take advantage of two great evenings of music, one being the Crouse House Porch pickers on Monday nights in Sparta and on the weekend, we attended the Alleghany County Fiddle Festival. We made day trips to Mount Airy and Greensboro, to the east and later in the week, headed west to Boone and Blowing Rock. It was a wonderful vacation that was made all the more so because of our stay at Fox Ridge! We will definitely look to come back next time we make a visit to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina!
