Washer leaked, Hornets nest in back preventing access to lake, ceiling fan unbalanced, dust in all closets cabinets and water heater, Garage 10 feet from front door with someone there several nights, old linens, porch entry light missing, ice maker not working, bowl in fridge for leaks, poor kitchen utensils also dirty, grill rusty and broken, no garbage receptacle outside. Only answers from owners were "no one has ever complained before" or " we didn't know". Nothing was address the 8 days we were there.
The lake cottage was very cozy and we had a very enjoyable time during our stay. Our favorite room is the screened in porch where we could sit and watch the lake in the morning while we had our coffee and in the evenings. The property manager was extremely responsive for any issues, and the owners were very nice. We had a wonderful time!
The place is small and dated and the layout is a little strange. It’s in immediate proximity to multiple other independent dwellings. The house that I’m assuming houses the property manager has dogs that are sweet but bark initially only when seeing people. I found that far less grating than the dog owners repeatedly yelling at the dogs to stop barking in vain.
So what’s up with the rating? I mean, I got exactly what I expected! A nice quiet time on the lake, WiFi, a fire stick, an electric fireplace, and a screened in porch. If you’re expecting the Waldorf-Astoria on the lake, you have to pay for it. I’ve done it in the past and loved it but that was a different experience and not just a long weekend. This is a reasonable price for reasonable, comfortable accommodations.
We enjoyed the games provided as well as welcome treats. Views were awesome.
The time together was most important. The kitchen was poorly stocked of basic cooking necessities. Being able to swim right at the property or use of a boat to enjoy the lake would be great. I dont want to leave a house I am paying money for, to find a swimming hole.
