A warmly decorated, comfortable, three bedroom, lakefront home designed to accommodate a large family or two smaller families. The bedrooms and dining area can accommodate up to10 people (6 adults/4 children), with play areas and quiet spaces for adults and kids alike.

Nestled among the treetops above Lake Anna, the Bird’s Nest provides a unique feeling to its residents and a special view of the lake and its natural surroundings. The main level provides ample connected space for socializing while cooking, dining, listening to music or watching movies in surround sound – all while overlooking the lake. Opening one of the three sliding glass doors on the window wall expands the living area onto the large deck, with its outdoor chairs, lounges and hot tub. The deck also includes a gas grill and dining table with chairs to expand dining options. The balance of sun and shade make the deck an inviting space for relaxation throughout the day and evening.

New shopping center with grocery, pizza and Chinese carry-out restaurants, veterinary clinic, ABC store and Redbox DVD only 2 miles away.

Easy Boating & Swimming: A walk down a staircase to the dock provides a boat slip with additional dock frontage for jet skis. You can put your boat and/or jet skis in the water at no cost at the nearby community boat ramp and keep your boat conveniently at the dock for the extent of your stay at the Birds Nest. Nearby marinas also rent boats and jet skis on a daily or weekly basis, if needed. A 10’ x 10’ area at the end of the dock provides ample space for sun bathing or relaxing between swims or floats in the lake. The dock is located in a No-Wake zone, allowing peaceful swimming, floating (in the provided tubes) and fishing. The No-Wake zone opens into a large cove that is away from the main lake and is perfect for learning to wake board, knee board, water ski or jet ski. It's also a great location for tubing with smaller children.

Indoor Activities: Movies, Books, Sports: Should weather keep you indoors, there is an extensive collection of fiction books, DVD/CD player, radio or your ipod/mp3 player. There are also puzzles, as well as family and adult-level board games. For the sports-minded, the lower level play room has a regulation, slate bed pool table with all needed accessories, and a regulation fooseball table. The play room also has its own satellite television, DVD player and music system. The private, covered balcony off of the master bedroom also provides a cozy, quiet respite away from indoor household activities on a rainy day for reading or just relaxing.

Relaxation: Hot Tub and Fire Pit: The hot tub on the rear deck is convenient to the main rooms of the house and can seat 4-6 for a relaxing dip and conversation anytime of the day or night. Additionally, the fire pit in the front yard is suitable for evening storytelling, roasting marshmallows, making s'mores or otherwise extending a relaxing day into the night.

Lake Anna is the second largest lake in located entirely in Virginia with over 200 miles of shoreline and stretching 17 miles long. Lake Anna's setting is rural and picturesque, while providing boating, jet-skiing, wake boarding, tubing, fishing and swimming, on its waters, as well as proximity to Kings Dominion Theme Park, Wineries (Lake Anna Winery and Cooper Winery), Monticello (Thomas Jefferson's Home), Montpelier (James Madison's Home), The Wilderness Battlefield, Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park and shopping in Fredericksburg, Charlottesville and Richmond.

Golf: There are a variety of public-access golf courses within a short drive that span the range of difficulty and cost. Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency (US Dollar) unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.

Notes

  • Maximum of 10 guests, including children (6 adults/4 children). The rental period is Sunday to Sunday. Check-in is 4:00 PM and Check-out is 10:00 AM. Other time arrangements can be made for weekend rental only, if no one is coming in or leaving on the same day. Non-smoking. Pets are considered on a case-by-case basis.
    Fees added for late key return or lost keys.
    Reservation may be cancelled if payment not made by the noted time.
  • To secure a rental week, you must send a check for the security deposit ($250 no pets or $350 with pets) and a signed rental agreement to the address below. The week's rental is $1,600 ($950 off peak) plus $100 cleaning fee, for a total of $1,700.00 ($1050 off peak). One half of this amount ($850.00) is due 45 days in advance and the balance is due 30 days in advance. If there is no damage to the house, the security deposit will be returned within 21 days of the rental. If you cancel the reservation less than 60 days in advance of the starting rental date or do not make the advance rental payments, the reservation will be canceled and the security deposit forfeited.
    Personal checks are accepted. When your deposit is received, the calendar will be blocked out with your reserved week.
    The walkway to the lake includes a staircase that may be difficult for individuals with limited mobility (80 steps). Call in advance of making the reservation, if this could be an issue.

Internet access requires the tenant to provide own computer and have an account with an internet access provider that has a local phone number for service. Non-local calls are blocked on the land line. Four, lightweight Adirondack chairs, two beach chairs and garden umbrella are available for use on the dock. Four large inner-tubes are available for floating on the lake. Horseshoes are available for setup and an outdoor fire pit is located in the front yard. Hot tub may be unavailable during winter months. There is no internet available at the house, Nearby coffee/ice cream shop has WI-FI. Guests provide sheets/pillow cases and towels.

Old Friends Reunion

We had family and friends stay for the week at this beautiful home, seven adults, three teenagers, one child and a dog. Everyone had an absolutely wonderful time. The home is deceiving from the outside, very spacious inside and we could all spread out. The lake was beautiful and we even rented a pontoon for the day to explore at a nearby marina. The description understates the amenities in the kitchen...we were concerned that there would not be enough utensils, cooking instruments, bowls, plates, etc. However, the cabinets and cupboards were stocked completely and we ended up not needing what we brought to cook with! We recommend this home to anyone looking for a tranquil, private and peaceful getaway for friends or family. We were very sad to leave.

Fantastic Weekend

We spent the past weekend at Bird's Nest (5 people total) and it was a WONDERFUL weekend. The house is fantastic - its secluded, cozy, comfortable and has everything you could dream of. Fully stocked with utensils, appliances, etc! We soaked in the hot tub and used the tubes to float in the lake. All in all it was a fantastic weekend and we look forward to returning.

A glorious retreat!

We spent this past weekend at the Bird's Nest....and highly recommend it! The setting is very private, the deck with the hot tub does sit at the tree tops with the birds.....the house is well stocked and well cared for and the owners were a delight to do business with....we rented a boat all day Saturday and spent Sunday floating on the lake off the dock....a very good weekend Thank you for sharing your property with us!

Fantastic Fall Weekend at the Lake

Five of us just arrived home from a weekend at Bird's Nest and are ready to bo back again!

The house is large, comfortable, and we felt right at home. The location can't be beat as it is surrounded by large oak trees and has its own lakefront. To top it off, the owners were friendly, kind, and a pleasure to work with.

Now we can't wait for our next trip!

Great Time! Beautiful Setting!

We truely had a great time. House was well equipt and very homey. Family and freinds had a great time, peaceful, relaxing and kids had alot of fun too. This was our first rental dealing straight from the owner, they were pleasant and wonderful to deal with. Thanks we will be renting again!
