Overview

Capitol Hill Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 2 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Located in the historic Capitol Hill neighborhood, this unit features two bedrooms and one bathroom as well as powder room and can comfortably accommodate a family of six. Once you enter the building there are flight of stairs to get to the living and dining room and than another flight of stairs to get to the bedrooms and bathroom.

The property—situated within walking distance of the U.S. Capitol and the National Mall—is near the center of the Federal City and offers amenities for a comfortable and memorable stay in one of Washington's oldest and most sought-after neighborhoods.

After Georgetown to the west, Capitol Hill is Washington's oldest neighborhood. In its earliest days, most of the residents were members of Congress who lived in boarding houses and dormitories surrounding the Capitol. As the neighborhood evolved, rowhouses replaced boarding houses and the Hill began to grow as a neighborhood filled with families, as well as Washington's who's who. As you walk around this stately neighborhood, don't be surprised if you see faces you've seen in the news. A number of senators and representatives make their home on the Hill.

In addition to the U.S. Capitol, the Hill includes other significant American landmarks such as the U.S. Supreme Court, the Library of Congress, the Folger Shakespeare Library, Union Station, the U.S. Marine Corps Barracks, the Washington Naval Yard, Congressional Cemetery, Lincoln Park, and the Eastern Market. All of these sights are within easy walking distance and most are Metro-accessible on the Orange/Blue line on the southwest side of the Hill and on the Red line through Union Station. Just down the hill from the Capitol is the National Mall with all of the monuments and memorials iconic to Washington, as well as more than 10 museums and galleries of art and artifacts.

To the east of the Capitol is the Eastern Market—one of the only remaining merchant markets left in Washington. While the market bustles during the week, it is on the weekends that it acquires its character and charm as residents from all over the city and visitors from all over the world come to the market to enjoy breakfast; purchase fresh meats, produce, and breads; stroll through the adjacent flea market; and browse the latest art and jewelry crafted by local artists and artisans.

During the spring and summer months, a visit to the U.S. Marine Corps Barracks at 8th and I Streets SE will allow you to see the Marine Corps Silent Drill Team in action. This 24-man rifle platoon performs precision maneuvers with their 10.5 lb M-1 Garand rifles with fixed bayonets.

Over at the U.S. Capitol, the newly opened visitor's center allows visitors to experience the Capitol from the ground up. The center features several state statues in Emancipation Hall and a museum that chronicles the history of the U.S. Capitol from its cornerstone laying in 1789 by George Washington to the present day. Tickets for the Senate and House galleries are available here.

The Library of Congress' Jefferson Building, just across the street from the Capitol, is the world's largest repository of books and media in the world. The building is open to the public and the Renaissance and classical art are breathtaking.

These and other sites make staying on Capitol Hill a must if you're visiting Washington on business or for pleasure.

About Property Owner

We are family owned and operated. From the left meet Kate, Jarek (sister and brother) and our mom Dana.

We have lived in Washington for over ten years and love this cosmopolitan city where people get up every morning and get to work on changing the world. The most powerful people in DC can alter the course of history and try to make the world a better place. It's a city where philosophical debate and advocacy of issues beyond one's own family or pocketbook rule the day; a city where what's going on in one's head is far more important than what one is wearing; a city where people come from all over the world to experience democracy and learn the principles of our free society.

We get visitors from all over the country and the world. Some come for one time visit with their family, others keep coming back number of times a year as we host many repeat guests related to the federal government, foreign embassies and the US State Department. We take great pride in having our unit very clean (our mom cleans it, so you know it’s spotless), conveniently located within walking distance to all shopping, restaurants and Metro.

We want you to enjoy your visit whether it is once in a lifetime trip with your family or monthly visit for work. We are looking forward to hosting you in DC and if there is something we can help with, let us know.

Very nice apartment and neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a few nights in April for our first trip to DC. We found the apartment charming and comfortable. The neighborhood is beautiful, and located close to the Eastern Market and restaurants, Union Station and the Mall. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. We would stay here again!

Perfect Capitol Hill Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We loved everything about this snug little townhome. The location was perfect - just a few blocks from the Eastern Market, which is a great destination in and of itself, or you can walk a few blocks the other direction and explore the museums and monuments around the Mall. The neighborhood was quiet, with lots of settled families and dog parks, which kept my dog-crazy daughters very pleased. Best of all, though, the townhome itself was warm, well decorated, and super clean. I've stayed in some rentals that felt like rentals. This one felt like a home, and we would absolutely stay here again.

What luck to find this charming place.

  • 5 of 5

We were so lucky to find this place. The location was about a 10-15 minute walk from union station. So nice to walk to, great neighborhood. We walked back and forth from the Capital several times during our stay. It was a nice stroll. Parks nearby. Birds chirping. Not a lot of street noise. We really got some good work done because we had a kitchen, two bedrooms, wifi, and two baths. Try and find that in a hotel room! I loved the layout of the place. All common areas in the first floor for meetings, etc. of so,some needed to retire, they went up to the second floor, closed the door and the rest of us could keep on working and chatting and visiting. I would love to come back. Stairs aren't for everyone and there are two sets. We worked with it and our luggage survived intact. Public transpo nearby.

Great location for my first visit to DC

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house when traveling with another couple and it turned out to be the perfect location for walking to all of the sights as listed in other reviews.

We appreciated all of the local information and maps available in the house. We had a couple of small issues such as internet not working and the owners were very responsive in addressing them right away.

The house had character and worked perfectly for us. Thanks so much!

Great location!

  • 4 of 5

We visited DC with our two boys (9 & 12) for 4 nights over their April school vacation. The location of the condo is perfect for doing all the tourist stuff. It was a 10 minute walk to the capitol, 15 minutes to the Mall area. We rarely took the Metro as it was easier to walk most places. The Eastern Market and the Union Station Metro stations are about a 10 min. walk each. The condo was set up well. We liked having the laundry available and we did use the air mattress for one of our sons. It was very quiet (except for sirens in the background every once in a while which is to be expected) and clean. We had some great meals at Tortilla Cafe (Eastern Market) and most notably, Founding Farmers (near Foggy Bottom) - one of the best restaurants we've been to in years. Highly recommend it. The condo is not very close to any stores or restaurants, but that was not a problem for us.
