For all the good people who have been wondering about the ranch, thanks for your concern and we are so happy to say that we were untouched by the floods in September 2013, thanks heavens!
Vintage... unique Trail Creek Ranch on fishing river. Built in the 1880s, this unique ranch offers solitude, beauty, and a feeling of the old west. Located in the hills of Cherokee Park at 7000 feet and is open from April 1st to October 31st.
Brown and rainbow trout cruise the mile and a half of premier catch-and-release fishing water with beaver ponds and riffles that are yours alone. Take a picnic basket lunch and enjoy the plentiful birds, wildlife, and wildflowers. Throw your sleeping bags in the front yard or on the hill, watch a million stars and be serenaded by the coyotes and the river.
Bike, hike, or ride the 400 acre ranch property or explore the miles of Game and Fish property and the Forest Service just across the road. Walk out your door and the North Fork of the Poudre and Trail Creek meet right across the front yard. Get a workout playing badminton, volleyball, croquet, cornhole and horseshoes.
The interior of the house has all the modern conveniences and has still maintained the charm of this old dude ranch with much of the original knotty pine and furnishings. The large dining and living room can easily accommodate a crowd in front of the stone fireplace. Lots of books, games, toys and outdoor games are there for your enjoyment.
Our house is half mile up the driveway and you may use our phone or hike to the hill-tops for cell service.

About The Owner
Amy's grandfather bought the ranch in 1935 because of it's large meadows of native hay. The house was leased to a man in 1940 and run as a dude ranch for several decades. In 1975 Amy & Lars moved to the house and lived there for 10 years while they built the house on the property where they live now.
What makes this farmhouse unique
' We loved living on the ranch house. The river and the creek in the front yard is so wonderful. To open the windows at night and hear the water, the night hawks and hopefully a coyote is an experience that is increasing rare for most people.
We have a big vegetable garden and chickens for meat and eggs. Sometimes driving to Fort Collins or Laramie for groceries that we don't produce ourselves but the drive is so beautiful that we look forward to it.
Our neighbors are great people and we know that we can count on each other in a pinch. They are like family to us.
When hiking around the property, there's no telling what interesting things you might see - trout spawning in the creek, startled blue heron and snipe winging their way along the willows, even mink are sometimes spotted. This year we have a bobcat that seems to live on the hill between the houses.
Paleo-indians and Utes once inhabited these hills. To wander Cherokee Park leaves one feeling reverence for the people that lived on and loved the area.
The nature experience, the history and the spirtuality are reasons we plan on staying here 'til our dying day!'
