Spring/Summer:
We are truly blessed to be located in the midst of two great mountain ranges in the Eastern United States: The Vermont Green Mountains and New York’s Adirondacks. The Champlain Valley is home to two beautiful lakes: Lake George and Lake Champlain. Rent a ski or fishing boat and cruise Lake George from our favorite marina Snug Harbor or visit Fort Ticonderoga by the Ti Ferry while celebrating Lake Champlain’s quadra-centennial on one of its historic ferries. Or bicycle the quiet byways and dirt roads of the Champlain Bikeway right from the cottage door. Summer thrives in the mountains that surround Bridport. The world famous Lake Placid and the Adirondacks, with its hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, and canoeing are 1.25 hours to the west, while only 30 minutes to the east the Long Trail and The Appalachian Trail line the legendary Green Mountains with its own trails and water sports.
Fall/WInter:
When most people think of Vermont the images of radiant Sugar Maples and Apples come to mind. Everyone agrees: Vermont in Fall is arguably the most beautiful in the Country and some say the world. Pick your own apples, canoe cool mornings, enjoy the spectacular foliage on a bike or car tour from our centrally located cottage. We are the perfect starting point for almost any day trip you can do in Western Vermont and the Adirondacks in Autumn. We would be than happy to help you arrange your plans. Just let us know. As the Fall turns to Winter the surrounding peaks of the valley slowly turn white and the another activity well known in Vermont begins: skiing. We are 35 minutes from the Middlebury College Snowbowl. Travel one hour east to the gorgeous Lincoln pass and ski nationally renowned Mad River Glen. A co-operative mountain owned by its season pass holders. Why not ski a different mountain everyday from your front door!
So much to do!:
History abounds in our region. Chimney Point and the The Lake Champlain Maritime Museum are minutes from the cottage. Also, just 45 minutes to the north is the nationally renowned Shelburne Museum. Shopping destinations include: Middlebury 11 miles away, the beautiful lake town of Westport, NY lies 35 minutes across the Champlain Bridge, and the gorgeous lakefront city of Burlington, VT is 45 minutes to the North. A little farther north across the border, the amazingly cosmopolitan city of Montreal is 2.5 hours away in southern Quebec, Canada (don’t forget your passport). Why not consider a trip back in time to old Vermont and visit the Champlain Islands? Antiques, handcrafts, wildlife, history, golf, hiking...we will be more than happy to help you plan your adventures based on your interests. Check out our website for links to many area destinations.
