I lived in the Charlotte area for over 6 years and consider it my second home now as I still visit there frequently from my current residence in Houston TX. I purchased this home as a Vacation Home on Lake Norman and found its combination of mountain log with main channel lake view appeal unique and like nothing else I had found in over a year of searching for the ideal retreat. Unlike most vacation rentals on the lake this home was built specifically to be a Vacation Home and this is immediately obvious as your walk through the doors. Enjoy your stay. I want you to return!!
Martin Lee purchased this house in 2006
I consider myself fortunate to have lived in the Lake Norman area for a number of years and I always look forward to return visits there. As one of the largest lakes in the south east Lake Norman is truly a wonderful place to vacation and as some of my previous guests have discovered a compelling place to consider returning to again and again! In fact I have a couple guests who have now retired to the area as a result of their experience staying in my Log Home and soaking up the atmosphere of Lake Norman and the surrounding areas.
- The intemate Master Suite. You have to discover for yourself!
- Breakfast on the upper level balcony.
- Sunset drinks on the elevated boat deck.
- The warmth of natural Log surroundings and the cozy fireplaces.
- Evening walks in the surrounding neighborhood which is private and full of interesting homes.
- Looking forward to the next visit!
I have just completed a $3,000 installation of a top of the line water softener and integrated filtration system. This will eliminate any variability in quality of the well water at this home as otherwise varies based on recent weather patterns. The system works great and the water looks fantastic.
the house is great for our family and is on a beautiful location. However i must clarify for future renters that there is no room with 2 double beds. These are very much twin size and would be impossible to share. There are really only 2 bedrooms for couples, my husband and I ended up in seperate beds for our vacation.
What a beautiful log home! This rental offers all the amenities of home- including a 12 cup coffee pot plus Keurig since last review, so don't bring one. The kitchen was fully stocked with every pot, pan, and utensil needed for a Thanksgiving dinner. We loved the open floor plan with the kitchen, dining area, and living room all in proximity. It seemed larger than the pictures showed. The bar type counter is also very large for extra working/eating/playing space. Bedrooms and beds were very comfortable. Grocery and restaurants are within 3 miles. Only advice- if want pizza delivery order before 10 pm! Waking up to a morning sunrise with coffee from inside or back decks makes for perfect relaxation. Owner responded to questions in timely manner. Highly recommend this property!
Stayed at the Log Home for a Friendsgiving (early Thanksgiving with friends who are like family) weekend. It was perfect! Log home is cozy & fit the 7 of us very well. Sunrise is perfect from the dock with a cup of coffee (bring coffee maker if you don't like Kureg coffee) Overall loved the home!
Marty the owner was awesome to work with. Loved the feel of the log home. Decorated well. Views from deck awesome. Lighting in house was quite dim. Could not get cable to work in basement. I would suggest having a notebook on how things operated. I am sure the area would be better to visit in summer months, but it was very peaceful. It was much better than staying in a hotel. Would totally recommend this property to everyone!
The Log Home was perfect for us to get together after the Christmas holiday. The house is rustic which fit nicely for us. The morning sun rises are spectacular, there was plenty of space to play games in the evenings, and we even caught a couple of bass. The beds were very comfortable and the large kitchen let more than one help with the meals. Marty was very responsive with our questions even though he was traveling at the time of our stay. Lots of shopping and nearby restaurants.
My family spent five days over Thanksgiving weekend & enjoyed the house very much. The sunrise over the lake was beautiful. My grandson fished off of the dock & caught & released a large bass. I fell in love with the rustic style furniture...there's a book with pictures & information on it. The kitchen & dining area is roomy & we were able to seat everyone together. The downstairs bar with ice-maker was really nice. Unfortunately, we were unable to get the fireplace to work.
My only criticism is the carpet.....fortunately, there's mostly hardwood & slate floors...., was stained & a couple of cooking appliances previous renters had been negligent in cleaning. I addressed these issues with the owner & he was going to correct them.
Overall, it's a wonderful house & the location is great. Plenty of parking & close to lots of stores....including my personal favorite; The Fresh Market.
The house offers lots of good things & very few negatives. It would be helpful to have a notebook of how fireplaces, wifi, TV's, etc, work.
