We stayed with you at the end of March into April just recently. My father, Floyd Kalberg, was the one that coordinated the entire vacation. We also got the opportunity to meet you as you were on your way out. I’m hoping you remember us... I know he sent you family pictures... We are from Minnesota.I am not interested in renting a condo, but knew that this was the best way to contact you.I would just like to personally say thank you for letting us stay that week. I'm assuming that father told you that he had stage 3 colon cancer when we went and that was his reward for completing chemotherapy. Our trip to your condo was our last family vacation. Just before we were leaving we had gotten word that his cancer had spread to his abdomen. He was determined to go and enjoy himself. And that he did, we all did. Upon our return we spent many, many hours in the hospital and going through various appointments. The cancer did spread but they still were confident they were getting it all. He was now at stage 4. He had begun chemotherapy once a week, every week. At the end of July we went out of town leaving him home with other members of the family because he told us to go. While we were gone, they decided they were going to do surgery. That is when we got the call. There was nothing more that they could do to help him. They gave him days. We brought him home for in home hospice, and on August 11th, 2008 he completed this leg of his journey.Your condo truly gave us our last family vacation. We enjoyed every moment of our trip. We would wake up and spend breakfast on the lanai just laughing and joking. We even got to see whales jumping (and got pictures). We swam with the turtles, every moment truly was paradise. So thank you again. You gave us so many memories, that truly was the last time he was up and about, after that he was pretty much in the hospital bedridden. My husband and I stayed in this wonderful condo unit for over a month. Lucky us! Pam was a lovely person to deal with; kind, generous and friendly. The condo was outfitted extremely well with quality items and beautiful things. I would say it is the best VRBO we have ever stayed in. The highlight was the the amazing view from the lanai. We spent hours out there. We watched the absolutely gorgeous sunsets almost every night and must have taken 300 photos. We had breakfast out there every morning. From the lanai we also saw dolphins, large sea turtles and humpback whales. The beach in front is a hidden gem and is never, ever crowded.We have stayed on the Waianae Coast several times over the last 38 years and love the area because it is on the leeward side which means sunny and dry. We often drove a short distance to Pokai Beach where the water is very calm for swimming. There is an interesting heiau there to explore, too. Yokohama Beach at the end of the road is wild and beautiful and the hike to see the albatross reserve at Kaena Point is well worth it. We loved the Sat. morning market behind Long's Drugstore where fresh organic veggies among other things could be purchased. We highly recommend Kahumana Rest.on an organic farm on Lualualei Homestead Rd. We can't say enough about the wonderful time we had there. Mahalo, Pam!!
This condo is exactly what I expected and more. Pam is an amazing owner who allows strangers like me and my family (wife, 1 year old, 9 year old) to enjoy what she calls her "little piece of paradise" and that's exactly what it was.
At first I was a little hesitant only because I've never done a transaction like this but when I emailed Pam and asked to speak with her, she made this the most smoothest, easiest, comforting transaction I've done. She answered all my questions and really made me feel at ease knowing that I'm not dealing with just any regular renter. She was well organized and had all the details about proceeding with the transaction as clear as can be.
Then to top it off, when I got to her condo, the view from the lanai (patio) was breathtaking. The amenities were exactly what she stated on the website and the pictures didn't do the condo justice. It really is a home away from home because Pam's condo has the pots, pans, plates, silverware, coffee maker, beach chairs, dvd players, iPod speakers, etc. that you need to make your stay as comfortable as possible. You definitely have to experience this condo for yourself.
My family and I slept every night with the sliding door open listening to the waves crash. Then waking up in the morning with my cup of coffee, sitting on that lanai, and watching the sunrise....man, I just want to go back.
The only downside is the drive to the condo but I knew that going into this. I wanted a location where I can take the kids to the "resorty" side of Hawaii but still enjoy the "beachy" side of Hawaii. To have the beach as my own "semi-private" beach was amazing. Since not too many tourists come to the Makaha side, the only people that are at this beach are those staying at the only 2 condos on this side of town (there is another high-rise condo next door).
Overall, I would definitely recommend Pam and her lovely place to anyone and would definitely rent her place again as she is an amazing host. Thank you Pam for allowing my whole family to enjoy such a clean, well-kept, cozy condo that you have.

I can't believe I've waited this long to write our review. Especially since I've thought of our time there almost every day since. We had an amazing time. The best of our times were spent at the condo. The kids thought of the beach as their own, and that is exactly how it felt. Such a secluded and spoiled feeling. We checked out all the tourist spots (with little regret) but we just could not wait to get back to this piece of paradise. The condo had everything and I can't wait to go back! This time with my sisters!

The setting and view from this charming condo are as described - it's difficult for photos to do it justice. You can sit for an evening, enjoying the full vista of the flawless & quiet beach plus the horizon beyond.
Inside the spotless condo are all of the facilities you would expect for its size; the ceiling fans are very welcome and effective. The kitchen has all of the modern/new facilities that you need and the cooking utensils are numerous and of good quality. There's a good supermarket ('Tamura') just 5 mins drive away in Waianae.
Finally, the contact and support from Pam, the owner, is superb. She provides all of the advice, efficiency & confidence needed to make the whole experience as simple & enjoyable as is possible. I look forward to returning.
Do you have Hawaii on your check list as a place to experience paradise? Well this is the place. The condo was very clean, comfortable, safe, and well maintained with an amazing view of the ocean from the condo's lanai where you can have your wine, eat and most of all enjoy Hawaii's fabulous sunsets. It has an amazing clean, semi-private, beach where we did lots of swimming, boogie board, snorkeling all under the Hawaiian sun. The area (Makaha) is mainly sunny and rarely gets rain even if the rest of the island may has. The owner, Pam is extremely helpful in making this a vacation you will remember. You don't have the hassle of crowded Honolulu/Waikiki but it's only 20-30minute drive if you want it. Best value for your dollar spent for sure. In the guide "Oahu Revealed" it is listed as a "Gem". Great guide and absolutely true. Recommend that your rent a car for getting around although there is some bus service - we rented a Jeep and visited the whole island but always spent our relaxed time at the condo and it's beach. Wake up to the sunrise and don't miss the day. The neighbors are also very friendly and respect your privacy. If it is your first time to Hawaii and you want to spend time Oahu - recommend this place to get the best of both worlds at an affordable price. If you are seeking for good restaurants, we preferred going to doing the 15-20 minutes drive away or cook our own in the condo well-equipped kitchen or use the supplied BBQ's downstairs. There is no pool - but heck! the ocean is your pool and one of Oahu's best beaches is at this Condo.
I have rented a number of different units at the Cabanas to visit my family in the Makaha area. I have to say that the owner of this until is probably one of the nicest people I have had the privilege rent from. Her unit is beautifully decorated with modern amenities and very comfortable. I really enjoyed renting this space and from this particular owner and it made my vacation feel all the more special.

Hawaii State Excise Use and Transient Taxes for this condo are collected for the State of Hawaii and returned to the State of Hawaii in a bi-annual tax process ending every June and December of any given year. Annual taxes are reported every April for the previous year. The Tax ID number associated with this condo is W76321441-01. The local contact for this property is Ms. Momi Peters whose personal contact information is prominently displayed on the Rental Agreement generated for each guest who books a reservation. This information is also available in the Welcome Folder located on the counter inside the unit itself, and in the Final Instructions Letter generated when Final Payment is received. As the owner, I am the initial contact should any problem occur during your stay. However, Ms. Peters is available locally to see to any emergency and lives in close proximity (less that a mile) to the condo itself. Long standing relationships with local professionals (plumber and electrician) allows for immediate response if needed, where they will perform repairs and bill me directly. Should keys be lost during your stay, there is a secondary lockbox in place with spare set of keys which can be accessed (simply contact Momi or myself for the combination). The onsite Building Manager is available during business hours, should any building property issue present itself (separate from the unit itself), and there is an onsite security guard available during after hours. This is a gated community that can only be accessed with a remote gate clicker (located in the condo, to be left on the counter when you depart) or fob (magnetic swipe key which is attached to the key for the condo, located inside the lockbox). The combination to the lockbox will be given to each guest when Final Payment is processed. The tax identification number and local contact information are listed here in accordance with Hawaii State Law, and this owner is in full compliance.
A $275 Refundable Security Deposit is necessary at time of booking, which is separate from the Balance in Full. This deposit is refundable once you depart the condo and it has been cleaned and serviced. The Balance in Full for your stay is due 60 days prior to arrival date.
Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency (USD) unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.
