Yellowstone Historic Vacation Home just three miles from Yellowstone National Park!

The Yellowstone Historic Vacation Home was used at the turn of the century as a railroad wayside home for travelers to Yellowstone National Park. Today this historic home still has the same expansive views of the magnificent Electric Peak, the surrounding mountain ranges and rolling pastures, where you'll often see buffalo and antelope grazing. This three story home has recently been renovated and features comfortable rustic furnishings with that Montana flair. It is open year round with easy access to Yellowstone Park, with its world famous geysers, bubbling paint pots, pastel painted canyon walls, which can be enjoyed at the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and its famous Artist Point, the Boiling River Hot Springs close to Gardiner, and abundant wildlife including bears, wolves, coyotes, deer, elk, pronghorns, mountain goats, big horn sheep, eagles, etc.

Yellowstone Historic Vacation Home sleeps 9 or more. It offers the following:

* Spacious kitchen

* Open living room, formal dining room

* 1 King-size bed

* 2 Queen-size beds

* 1 Day bed

* 1 Bunk bed

* 3 Bathrooms

* For additional sleeping space, there are two bedrooms in the attic.

* A spacious yard, BBQ grill and picnic table

* Board games and toys for children of all ages

* Please note: Due to buffalo (bison) migration movements during the winter and spring, an electric fence will be operational along Old Yellowstone Trail (main road) from December 1 through mid-April. There are also cattle (bison) guards located on the driveways next to the property. For the safekeeping of your children, please do not allow them to play near these areas.

* Please note: Only non-alcoholic beverages in the home (request from owners)

A wonderful place to use as a center for a beautiful experience in Yellowstone

Rentals rarely embody the ability to support what can be a beautiful total vacation experience. This property, with the architecture, features and location, provided my family with a home that we could thoroughly enjoy the experience of Yellowstone and surrounding areas. It is a place of peace, of clean comfort, and free of distraction. There is a heart to this home...one that is now part of our hearts.

It's a perfect spacious house for big family. We are total 9 people ages from 20 to 80. Our family stayed 4 days in this house. It was exactly what it was describe in listing. It was very relaxing stay after returning from site seeing of Yellowstone. Excellent cooking facilities. I don't hesitate to recommend this house as well as owner. Everything was there for all ages of people.

We had a wonderful time in this glorious old home that wasn't like an old home at all. We had all the amenities needed and the house was upgraded beautifully. We had plenty of room for all of us (15 in all) and the yard was wonderful for the kids to blow off steam after a day at Yellowstone. The kitchen was large enough for several cooks and it was within a reasonable distance to Gardiner and Yellowstone. My only dislike was the road to the property was gravel. Minor inconvenience compared to the home itself. Having the laundry was a lifesaver with 7 children in tow. Cell phone reception was terrible in the area but it was great to have the wi fi available so everyone could keep in contact if need be. We would love to come back again.

Owner's Response: A drive that might lead you to lots of grazing animals is the Old Yellowstone Trail South (the gravel road you mentioned) that takes you to the town of Gardiner. I’ve seen lots of buffalo, elk, mountain goats, antelope, deer, foxes and bears. Other vacation home owners recommend this road to their renters because some times you can see more animals here than in the Park.

lovely property, perfect base for exploring Yellowstone

This house is over 100 years old, but is extremely well maintained inside and out, with modern appliances and not a creaking floor to be found. We easily accomodated two families and 9 people without needing to use the extra room and beds in the attic. The beds are of very good and solid quality, though we would have appreciated firmer pillows (a minor quibble). Wireless internet worked flawlessly and was easy to set up on multiple devices.

It served as a perfect home base to explore Yellowstone - it's a 12 minute drive to Gardiner where you can get everything you need to manage the household. Going back and forth was no trouble at all.

The property management is straightforward and helpful, responding quickly to emails.

Highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review! When we remodeled the house (in 2006) we did buy everything new: furniture, mattresses, bedding, kitchen appliances, silverware, etc. The house was remodeled from floor to ceiling, that is why it looks like a brand new home. There are some firm pillows in the house, but I'll be happy to get some more. Gracias!
