The island is located in Bantry Bay across from Castletownbere. Despite good connections via two ferries, it has always remained very original. It is mostly inhabited by fishers and farmers. The hiking paths on the island are connected to the Beara Way. The coast is dominated by impressive cliffs. Between these cliffs you will find picturesque, small bays.
