We stayed at Adele's place for several weeks while I was working in Atlanta. My husband and three children and I found it to be very comfortable and we enjoyed the beautiful yard tremendously. I wouldn't call the yard kid-friendly in a traditional way (can't really kick a ball around) but it's more like a nature preserve and my children talked and thought about it long after we left. My daughter still misses the swing, her favorite reading spot. Virginia Highlands is a great neighborhood, convenient to Midtown, Buckhead, Piedmont Park, excellent restaurants and grocery stores (to supply the well-equipped kitchen). Adele is extremely knowledgeable about the area and was deeply involved in keeping the interstate at bay back in the 70s - good stories.
Right next to Piedmont park and the Botanical Gardens, Adele's place is in the center of a lot of action. Sometimes it is hard to park, but she gave us a good head's up for a very large concert that we did not know about during our stay so we were able to plan accordingly. While one might expect such a central location to be noisy, it was surprisingly very quiet and peaceful being a basement level unit facing the back yard. Lots of space for a young family, and furnished accordingly - not overly fancy, but done nicely and not lacking in any way. Considering our other option was one room in a hotel in Buckhead, we were more than happy with this alternative. Also a nice kid's park just down the road within walking distance.
We stayed in the garden apartment with our three 14 month old boys and loved it. Adele was gracious enough to find us a changing table. The apartment is very peaceful and quaint. It is centrally located-a short walk to the park and several restaurants. We are looking forward to staying there again. Our boys really enjoyed the garden.
