This was a very comfortable, well-appointed home with all of the amenities any traveler might be looking for. The convenient location and beautifully landscaped backyard and patio made it a perfect spot for a family gathering. We were in Carlisle to attend my daughter's commencement ceremonies at Dickinson College and the Glass Gable gave us a convenient spot to reconvene after a day of celebrating on campus.
We stayed in the Glass Gable (south) for the Thanksgiving Weekend with friends from Ohio. As we are from Long Island, NY it was a great half way point to meet. The house itself is beautiful. It is beautifully furnished, well stocked with all the necessary items we needed, and was even decorated inside and out for the holiday season. Even with seven people in the group, we had plenty of room for everyone and there is plenty of space to have privacy if needed. We had a small issue with the wifi that Diana responded to promptly and she was courteous and very welcoming allowing us to arrive early due to a snowstorm. We enjoyed the proximity to town, dining, shopping, and a local movie theater. Gettysburg was less than a half hour away and is a must see destination if your in the area. We all enjoyed our weekend very much and highly recommend Glass Gables to all.
Very well appointed and comfortable house. A great home away from home for the holidays!
I just arrived today from spending Thanksgiving with my family at this wonderful Victorian home. We cooked all our foods in the premises and not one thing was missing in the kitchen. The owner, Diana sure has this home well taking care of. We loved the place and highly recommend it for family time. This place is very cozy and immaculate clean. We will definitely go back without hesitation. Thank you Diana for letting us stay at your home (words from the kids).
Our sister's weekend was so delightful in this beautiful Victorian home. There was plenty of sleeping room. The only down side is that two of the bedrooms are on a third floor and if you have older family members this could be a problem for sleeping arrangements. It would be great for kids or teens. We loved the place and recommend it for family time in a central location of Pennsylvania.
I stayed at Glass Gable with a group of friends over a weekend and we really enjoyed our stay. The property is extremely nice and well kempt. There were a couple of very dedicated chefs in the party and the kitchen was great for making large meals and could accomodate several cooks at once. We had 8 people in our group and had sleeping room to spare! Diane was very attentive to our needs: we found a blender was not working while making drinks and she provided a replacement within minutes; we also finished off a propane tank while grilling and were able to quickly get a replacement (before the steaks could even get cold). Our only regret was that heavy rains prevented us from really being able to take advantage of the gorgeous patio. We are already making plans to return as a group next year. Highly recommended!
