Afton Log Cabin is nestled on 12 secluded acres in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Afton, Nelson County, Virginia, just 10 miles from Interstate-64 between Charlottesville and Waynesboro. The surrounding countryside is laced with places of interest including the Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive, George Washington National Park, Appalachian Trail, Luray Caverns, Crabtree Falls, Museum of American Frontier Culture, Sherando Lake, Wintergreen Resort, University of Virginia (UVA), Scott Stadium, the John Paul Jones Arena, the Rotunda, and Monticello.

Afton Log Cabin offers a cozy family room with fully equipped bathroom and kitchenette on the first floor. The second floor Loft and Blue Ridge Room offer three bedrooms with double, twin, and queen beds. The balcony and spacious covered porches extend the enjoyment of the cabin to the great outdoors where picnic tables, lawn chairs, hammock, swing, and basketball await.

Top-off Your Skyline Drive Experience

We stayed here for 2 nights in September 2009 and were absolutely delighted with the log cabin. Not only was it well-appointed, cozy and clean, it was in a central location not far away from Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway, Charlottesville and easy to get to. When sitting on the back porch, you can take in a spectacular view of Afton Mountain. It was a true "get away from it all" rustic experience for us and possessed all the authenticity of a true log cabin. I would recommend this log cabin to anyone who is interested in a rustic mountain get-away and for those seeking accomodation along the Drive and Parkway. We plan to revisit the log cabin another time in the Fall to experience the Fall foliage in the region.
Recommended for:  Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
